GENERAL DESCRIPTION
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
The GfS Day Alarm is a cost-eective and simple solution to secure emer-
gency exits. The opening status of the emergency exit door is monitored by
a radio or cable reed contact.
When walking through the door an accoustic alarm (95dB) and flash-light
is triggered. Authorized persons may deactivate the GfS Day Alarm by the
integrated key switch.
If somebody forgets to close the door after an authorised walk-through, an
acoustic intervalic alarm is triggered 15 sec. after the emergency exit door
has been opened. The green LED flashes.
As soon as the door is closed, the red LED illuminates again, the interval
tone expires and the device is activated again.
By using the key switch, it is possible to deactivate the GfS Day Alarm for
a long period.
The actual status of the GfS Day Alarm is indicated by a green and red LED.
The battery-operated GfS Day Alarm LC, however, does not integrate a
flash light. The GfS Day Alarm LC which integrates battery monitoring just
operates in combination with cable reed contacts.
All versions incorporate an automatic alarm switch-o, a floating-contact
for alarm transmissions and an interface to connect external access control
systems.
Open GfS Day Alarm unit. Remove red plastic cap and pull out the panel
with the LEDs and profile cylinder. Mount the GfS Day Alarm unit with the
screws.
The two upper screws have to be screwed in first and the unit be hung in.
To secure the unit the two lower screws have to be screwed in. Install the
reed contact at the door (installation depends on the version that was or-
dered).
Start-up after first installation
Before connecting the power supply please make sure that the door and
thus the reed-contact is closed.
Delivery state
When installed for the first time the GfS Day Alarm is deactivated.

Please insert the battery first.

Now turn the key anticlockwise and remove it. Open the door briefly and
close it again. The red LED shines, the unit is armed.
Unauthorized use
If the door is opened, the reed contact will send a signal which is received
by the GfS Day Alarm. The red LED flashes and a visual and an accoustic
alarm is triggered. The GfS Day Alarm LC has no flash-light.
Reset GfS Day Alarm
Insert the key into the integrated cylinder and turn it clockwise as far as it
will go. Turn key anticlockwise and remove it. The alarm expires and the
LED shines green. Close the door or if it is closed already wait for 15 sec-
onds. The LED shines red and the GfS Day Alarm unit is activated again.
Authorized passage
Insert the key and turn it to the right.
The green LED lights up. Turn the key to the middle position and remove it.
Open the door and walk through. Close the door again. The red LED shines
and the the GfS Day Alarm is activated again. In case that nobody walks

to red. The GfS Day Alarm is activated again.
The LED of the battery operated versions of the GfS Day Alarm (GfS Art.No.
710.000 and 741.000) expires after 10 sec. and the GfS Day Alarm is acti-
vated again.
The door is open
If the door is not closed properly after authorized use, an accoustic signal
is audible after 15 seconds of opening time and the green LED flashes. As
soon as the door is closed, the red LED shines, the accoustic alarm stops
and the units alarm function is activated.
Permanent opening
Insert the key and turn clockwise as far as it will go. The green LED is

After the power failure, the GfS Day Alarm unit switches on and an alarm
sound is emitted. This is to draw the attention of the provider of the system
to the fact that the supervision of the door was interupted and the door
might still be open!
To switch o the alarm, turn key clockwise as far as it will go. The LED is
green and the alarm switches o. Now turn key anticlockwise and remove.

Battery operation
Basic functions of the GfS Day Alarm with battery operation are similar to
those of mains operation.
Dierences
Relay operates in the opposite way (it is permanently deactivated, in case
of an alarm it will be activated). While the GfS Day Alarm is activated the
red LED is switched on for approx. 15 sec. Then the LED expires and the
GfS Day Alarm operates in a stand by mode (while waiting for external
signals). During the permanent opening mode the green LED flashes every
60 sec.
Batterie Control
only active when battery operated. Voltage is being measured after the red
LED is switched-o and then every 12 hours. The green LED is triggered
briefly (100ms) in order to put some load on the battery. In case that the
battery supply is less than 7,5V the buzzer sounds briefly. Now the meas-
urement takes place every 60 sec. and triggers a brief alarm.
Operation in parallel
With mains supply it is also possible to use a battery in parallel (only with-
out integrated receiver). In case of power failure the GfS Day Alarm starts
to be battery operated after 15 sec. When the power failure is over the GfS
DayAlarm operates automatically again with mains supply.
