motor connected in the model cannot accidentally start. Dis-
connect the fuel supply or drive baƩery beforehand.

and incorrect programming.

baƩery short-term, longer storage in discharged as well as fully
charged state make the baƩery in the long term useless.

AƩaching the transmiƩer neck-strap
At the top of the transmiƩer there is an eyelet for aƩaching a neck
strap.
AUDIO cŽŶŶĞĐƟŽŶ
The port for a 3.5 mm jack is located on the back of the transmiƩer
under the upper covĞƌŇĂƉ
Assoonasaheadphoneisconnected,theloudspeakerbuiltintothe
transmiƩerismutedandthetransmiƩer'ssoundandvoiceannounce-
ments are output through the headphones.
The volume can be adjusted in the submenu "Volume" of the "Sys-
tem" menu.
DATA cŽŶŶĞĐƟŽŶ
The DATA cŽŶŶĞĐƟŽŶ is suitable for cŽŶŶĞĐƟŽŶ of a smart box or an
external module. If necessary, this port can also be switched to out-
put a digital SUMD signal.
The corresponding seƫŶŐ is made in the submenu "I/O conĮŐΗ of
the system menu, see below under DSC cŽŶŶĞĐƟŽŶ
COM cŽŶŶĞĐƟŽŶ
Serial interface for future use
DSC cŽŶŶĞĐƟŽŶ
Through a DSC cable this port can be used for a simulator or for
Teacher/Student mode.
If necessary, switch to the required DSC operaƟŶŐ mode in the "I/O
ConĮŐΗƐƵďŵĞŶƵŽĨƚŚĞsystem menu.
To ensure a correct DSC cŽŶŶĞĐƟŽŶŽbserve the following
1. Perform any necessary seƫŶŐƐŝŶƚŚĞŵĞŶƵ
2. Connect one end of the DSC cable in the DSC port of the switched-
ŽīƚƌĂŶƐŵŝƩer and the other end to the device to be connected.
3. Turn the transmiƩer on.
Micro USB cŽŶŶĞĐƟŽŶ
The USB cable supplied with the is plugged into this socket.
Charging the transmiƩer baƩery
Note
Once connected to a PC or other USB power source, a yellow >
shouldbe litsolidlytothe leŌof the mz-32 HoTTΖƐ micro-USBport.
If this > ŇĂƐŚĞƐ yellow or is even dark, the power source is too
weak to charge the transmiƩer.

ͻTransmiƩer switĐŚĞĚŽī
OncethetransmiƩerisconnectedtoasuitableUSBpowersource
the charging process begins.
Depending on the current charge status of the transmiƩer bat-
tery, the bezel of the ON / OFF switch will ŇĂƐŚ approximately
every 2 seconds in diīerent colours and with varying frequency.
Assoonasthebezelglowssolidgreen,thebaƩeryisfullycharged.
The charging process is complete.
ͻTransmiƩer switched on
AŌercŽŶŶĞĐƟŶŐ thetransmiƩertoaUSBpowersource,thecur-
rent display switches to the display shown on the leŌ
Tapping the leŌ“Charge” ĮĞůĚ starts the charging process on a
suitablechargerandtappingthisĮĞůĚ againordiscŽŶŶĞĐƟŶŐ the
USB cable stops the process.
Tapping the "USB" symbolinthe upper leŌcornerreturnsto the
original display, which means that the mz-32 HoTT transmiƩer
can also be used "normally" during the charging process. Only
the red ŇĂƐŚ in the baƩery symbol in the upper right corner of
the display indicates that the charging process is sƟůůƌƵŶŶŝŶŐ
!
WARNING
The charger should always be supervised during charge and it
should be used only in rŽŽŵƐĮƩed with a smoke detector.
Mass storage memory
If the mz-32 HoTT transmiƩer is connected to a compaƟďůĞ PC and
the "Mass storage" ĮĞůĚ is ĂĐƟvated by tapping, the memory of the
transmiƩer can be accessed from the PC. For example, to copy
screenshotsormodeldatafromthetransmiƩertothePCorMP3or
ƐŽŌware updates to the transmiƩer.
Note
Even if the transmiƩer can no longer be switched on, the mass
memory can sƟůů be accessed in special cases, see under "Forced
stĂƌƟŶŐ in the USB mode Mass storage step-by-step" in the ƐĞĐƟŽŶ
"Firmware update".
JoysƟĐŬ
As soon as the transmiƩer is connected to a PC via the micro USB
port of the transmiƩer and "JOYSTICK" is selected by tapping, the
connected PC recognizes the transmiƩer as a joysƟĐŬ
The standard seƫŶŐ suitable for the most ŇŝŐht simulators is 0% to
100%.

Control sƟĐŬ
AdjusƟŶŐƚŚĞůĞŶgth of the control sƟĐks
Both sƟĐks can be adjusted in length: By holding the lower half and
turningtheupperpartoftheknurledhandle,thescrewisloosened.
The control sƟĐŬ is extended or shortened by turning it up or down
andthenĮxedbyscrewingeachagainsteachotheroftheupperand
lower part of the handle.
Neutralizing the control sƟĐks Both control sƟĐks can be set from neutralizing to non-neutralizing
and vice versa. Consult the transmiƩer backside diagram to locate
the corresponding set screws.
TherĞƐƉĞĐƟvescrewmustbeturnedclockwiseunƟů thecontrolsƟĐŬ
is free to move from stop to stop or counterclockwise unƟů the con-
trol sƟĐŬŝƐĂgain self-neutralizing.
Note
Which of the two control sƟĐks is to be switched to non-neutraliz-
ing also depends on the choice of the control mode, see under
"Commissioning the transmiƩer".
Brake spring and ratchet On both control sƟĐks, the braking force and strength of the ratchet
can be adjusted independently. Consult the transmiƩer backside
diagram to locate the corresponding set screws.
The inner set screw sets the braking force and the outer set screw
setsthestrengthoftheratchetofthevĞƌƟcalcontroldirĞĐƟŽŶ ofthe
rĞƐƉĞĐƟve control sƟĐŬ
Control sƟĐks centering force The control sƟĐks' restoring force can also be adjusted. Consult the
transmiƩerbacksidediagramtolocatethecorrespondingsetscrews.

Installing the baƩery
Note
PayaƩenƟŽŶ whenŝŶƐĞƌƟŶŐ thebaƩerytothecorrectƉŽƐŝƟŽŶ and
makesurethe contactsaresolid.InterrupƟŽŶƐ ofthepowersupply
to the transmiƩer during the use of the models can lead to serious
danger to yourself and to other people!
Insert the two cŽŶŶĞĐƟŽŶ plugs of the transmiƩer baƩery into the
baƩery cŽŶŶĞĐƟŽŶ sockets with the correct polarity. The corre-
sponding symbols are engraved above the two cŽŶŶĞĐƟŽŶ sockets:
Red = + Black/Brown = -
Charge the baƩery ThetransmiƩerbaƩeryischargedbymeansofthemicro-USBsocket
on the back of the transmiƩer. Further details can be found in the
ƐĞĐƟŽŶΗŚĂrging" under "micro USB socket".
Removing the transmiƩer baƩery
Open the baƩery case cover. >ŝŌ the baƩery and then carefully
remove the plugs of the power cable.

The supply voltage of the transmiƩer must be monitored during
operaƟŽŶ If it dropes below an adjustable capacity limit which by
default is 20%, an appropriate warning message will sound conƟŶƵ-
ously.
Stop operaƟŽŶŽĨyour transmiƩer and charge the baƩery!
AƩenƟŽŶ
As soon as the supply voltage of the transmiƩer falls below ϯϲ V,
thetransmiƩerswitchesoīautomaƟcallywithoutfurtherwarning.

on. AŌer each charge or baƩery exchange the ƟŵĞƌ is reset to
"00:00". However, this only happens if the baƩery voltage is ŶŽƟĐĞ-
ablyhigherthan before.Bydefault, the baƩeryserviceƟŵĞƌ as well
as the model operaƟŶŐ ƟŵĞ can be found in the submenu "Clock
Info" of the basic menu. These two clocks can also be installed as
widgets on one of your user widget decks.

Switch on transmiƩer Pressing the front ON / OFF switch for about 1 second switches the
mz-32 HoTT transmiƩer on.
/ŶŝƟĂůƐetup of the transmiƩer
If the transmiƩer is sƟůů in the delivery status or the transmiƩer was
previously reset to factory seƫŶŐƐ in the "Info & Update" menu, an
almost self-explanatory wizard starts immediately aŌer the trans-
miƩer is switched on to obƟĂŶƵƐĞƌƐeƫŶŐƐƉreferences.
The quesƟŽŶƐ of the Įrst four displays should be selected based on
yourpersonalpreferences.PleasenotethatalltheseseƫŶŐƐ canbe
later changed in the system menu.
Tappingthesymbol“ “attherightsideofthedisplayswitchestothe
next display and tapping the symbol “ “ at the leŌside switches
backward to the last display.

This is displayed in white and ƐĞůĞĐƟŽŶ ĮĞůĚƐ are displayed at the
boƩom of the display.
2. Use the ůĞŌ " " or central " " buƩon to select the desired value.
3. If necessary procĞĞĚƐŝŵŝůĂƌůLJǁŝƚŚƚŚĞŽƚŚĞƌǀĂůƵĞĮĞůĚƐ
4. Touching the right ƟĐŬ closes the current display and switches to
the nexƚƚŚĞůĂst one.
Touching"Ok"restartsthetransmiƩerandaŌerthestartdisplay,the
factory pre-conĮŐƵrĞĚĮrst home page appears.
Main menu
The main display is designed around user editable display widgets
thatcanbechangedandadaptedtoyourownpersonalneeds.There
areintotalsixeditabledecksthatcanbeaccessedwiththeleŌƌŝŐht
arrow keys on the radio.

help menu or by following our online video tutorials.

AccessingthecontextƐĞŶƐŝƟvehelpisdoneineachmenubytapping
the top right ?of the display. If required, such help pages can also
be created and stored by the user in the appropriate directory:
