SAFETY
ALERT
SYMBOL
Safety is a critical factor in the design of Greenlee equipment. The best program starts with a safety-conscious
operator. The information highlighted in this bulletin describes operating practices for the benefit of the workers
who will use our equipment in their daily jobs. Comments from users are appreciated.
This instruction manual is intended to familiarize the user with safety and
operating instructions for charging Greenlee 337 batteries, using either an AC or
DC Charger.
This manual should be kept available to users and maintenance personnel using
this charger and any battery operated tools using the Greenlee 337 Nickel
Cadmium battery pack.

SAVETHESE INSTRUCTIONS
Additional copies of this manual are available upon request at no charge.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Charge only Greenlee NiCd 16.8V rechargeable
batteries. Other batteries may burst causing injury
or property damage.
Electrical Shock Hazard:
• Use only indoors.
• Do not expose charger to rain,
snow or wet conditions.
• Do not operate charger with
a damaged cord or plug.
Return charger to an authorized
Greenlee service center.
• Unplug the charger from power
source before cleaning. Use only
mild detergent with a slightly
damp cloth to clean the outside of
the charger. Do not use solvents
or flammable cleaners. Allow
case to dry fully before using.
Failure to observe these warnings
could result in severe injury or death.
Electrical Shock Hazard:
Greenlee does not recommend
the use of an extension cord. If
an extension cord is used:
• The pins on the plug of the
extension cord must be the same
number, size and shape as the
pins on the plug of the charger.
• The extension cord must be
properly wired and in good
condition.
• The wire size must be large
enough for the AC ampere rating
of the charger.
Use of an improper extension cord
could result in fire or electric shock.
Failure to observe these warnings
could result in severe injury or death.
• Keep the charger ventilation slots clear of any
obstructions. Do not place the charger on a soft
surface which could block the bottom ventilation
slots. The charger generates internal heat during
charging.
• Keep the charger away from any heat source.
Excessive internal heating can ruin the charger.
Failure to observe these warnings could cause the
generation of excessive heat or fire and result in
severe injury or death.
A person who has not read and does not understand all
operating instructions is not qualified to operate this tool.
Failure to read and understand safety instructions may
result in injury or death.

SAVETHESE INSTRUCTIONS
Additional copies of this manual are available upon request at no charge.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Do not disassemble charger. Charger contains no
user serviceable parts. Service should be performed
by trained persons only. Return charger
to an
authorized Greenlee service center for service.
Failure to observe this warning could result in
severe injury or death.
• Keep dirt and foreign objects out of the battery
pocket.
• Do not short circuit any of the contacts in the
battery pocket.
Failure to observe these precautions could result in
injury or damage to the charger.
• Locate cord so that it will not be stepped on,
tripped over or subjected to damage or stress.
• Disconnect charger by pulling the plug; not the cord.
Failure to observe these precautions could result in
injury or property damage.
Do not operate charger if it has been dropped or
damaged in any way. Return charger to an
authorized Greenlee service center.
Failure to observe this precaution could result in
injury or property damage.
Use care when inserting battery. Do not “slam” the
battery into the battery pocket, this could damage
the charger.
Grounding Instructions
• Improper connection of the equipment-grounding
conductor can result in a risk of electric shock.
Check with a qualified electrician or service
person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet
is properly grounded.
•
Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance
—if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet
installed by a qualified electrician.
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunc-
tion or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least
resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of
electric shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord
having an equipment-grounding conductor and ground-
ing plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate
outlet that is properly installed and grounded in
accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
Model 2562 is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit and
has a grounding attachment plug that looks like the plug
illustrated in Figure 1. Make sure that the appliance is
connected to an outlet having the same configuration as
the plug. No adapter should be used with this appliance.
