1. Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a GRUNDIG product. Before installing or connecting the product, please
read first the following documents which you can find on the CD Rom in the product package:

Further information about the product like Data Sheets, CE Documents, etc. can also be found on
the CD Rom in the product package.
This User Guide is a user manual for Digital Recorders (DVRs). Please see in the table of 1.1 Model
Overview the applicable models.
Please read this User Guide carefully and retain it for future use.
1.1 Model Overview

1.2 IR Remote Control Operations
The DVR may also be controlled with the included IR remote control, shown below.
Note:
Batteries (2×AAA) must be installed before operation.
Remote Control
The keys on the remote control closely resemble the ones found on the front panel. Refer to the
table below. They include:

In PTZ Control mode, the MENU button will start the wiper (if applicable).
In Playback mode, it is used to show/hide the control interface.
3 REC Button
Enter the Manual Record setting menu.
In PTZ control settings, press the button and then you can call a PTZ
preset by pressing numeric buttons.
It is also used to turn audio on/off in the Playback mode.

DIRECTION
Button
Navigate between different fields and items in menus.
In the Playback mode, the Up and Down button is used to speed up and
slow down a recorded video. The Left and Right buttons will select the
next and previous record files.
In the Live View mode these buttons can be used to cycle through
channels.
In PTZ control mode, it can control the movement of the PTZ camera.
ENTER Button
Confirm a selection in any of the menu modes.
It can also be used to tick checkbox fields.
In Playback mode, it can be used to play or pause the video.
In single-frame Playback mode, pressing the button will advance the
video by a single frame.
5 PTZ Button In Auto-switch mode, it can be used to stop/start auto switch.
6 DEV Enables/Disables Remote Control.

Switch to the corresponding channel in Live view or PTZ Control mode.
Input numbers and characters in Edit mode.

Back to the previous menu.
Press for Arming/disarming the device in Live View mode.
9 PLAY Button
The button is used to enter the All-day Playback mode.
It is also used to auto scan in the PTZ Control menu.
10 PREV Button
Switch between single-screen and multi-screen mode.
In PTZ Control mode, it is used to adjust the focus in conjunction with the
A/FOCUS+ button.
1.3 USB Mouse Operation
A regular 3-button (Left/Right/Scroll-wheel) USB mouse can also be used with this DVR. To use a
USB mouse:
Steps:
1. Plug the USB mouse into one of the USB interfaces on the front panel of the DVR.
2. The mouse should automatically be detected. In the rare case that the mouse is not detected,
the possible reason may be that the two devices are not compatible. Please refer to the
recommended device list from your provider.

first DVR’s D+, D- pin should be connected with the D+, D- pin of the
next DVR.

2. Installation
During the installation of the DVR:
 Use brackets for rack mounting.
 Ensure ample room for audio and video cables.
 When routing cables, ensure that the bend radius of the cables are no less than five times than
its diameter.
 Connect the alarm cable.
 Allow at least 2 cm (≈0.75-inch) of space between rack-mounted devices.
 Ensure the DVR is grounded.
 The environmental temperature should be within the range of -10 to +55º C or +14 to +131º F.
 The environmental humidity should be within the range of 10% to 90%.
2.1 Hard Disk Installation
Before you start:
Before installing a hard disk drive (HDD), please make sure the power is disconnected from the
DVR. A factory recommended HDD should be used for this installation.
One or two SATA hard disks can be installed depending on the different models.
Tools Required: 1 Screwdriver.
Note:
As the installation steps of HDD are similar for the different models, here we just use one example.
1. Remove the cover from the DVR by unfastening the screws on the back side.

2. Connect one end of the data cable to the motherboard of the DVR and the other end to
the HDD.

4. Place the HDD on the bottom of the device and then fasten the screws on the bottom to
fix the HDD.

5. Re-install the cover of the DVR and fasten screws.
2.2 RS-485 Connection
To connect PTZ to the DVR:
1. Disconnect the pluggable block from the RS-485 terminal block.
2. Press and hold the orange part of the pluggable block, insert the signal cables into the
slots, and release the orange part. Ensure the signal cables are in tight.
3. Connect A+ on the PTZ to D+ on the terminal block and B- on the PTZ to D- on the
terminal block. Fasten the stop screws.
4. Connect the pluggable block back into the terminal block.

Make sure the DVR and PTZ are grounded.

3. Getting Started
3.1 Starting Up and Shutting Down the DVR
Proper startup and shutdown procedures are crucial to expanding the life of the DVR.
Before you start:
Check that the voltage of the extra power supply is the same with the DVR’s requirement, and the
ground connection is working properly.
Starting up the DVR:
Steps:
1. Check that the power supply is plugged into an electrical outlet. It is HIGHLY recommended
that an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) be used in conjunction with the device.
2. Turn on the power switch on the rear panel. The Power indicator LED should turn on,
indicating that the unit begins to start up.
3. After startup, the Power indicator LED remains on.
Shutting down the DVR:
Steps:
1. Go to Menu > Shutdown.

2. Click <Shutdown>.
3. Click <Yes>.
4. Turn off the power switch on the rear panel when the note appears.

Rebooting the DVR:
While in the Shutdown menu, you can also reboot the DVR.
Steps:
1. Go to Menu > Shutdown.
2. Click <Logout> to log out or <Reboot> to reboot the DVR.
3.2 Activating the Device
For the first-time access, you need to activate the device by setting an admin password. No
operation is allowed before activation. You can also activate the device via a web browser or the
Grundig IP Finder Tool.
Steps:
1. Enter the same password in the text fields of <Create New Password> and <Confirm New
Password>.
Admin Password Settings
WARNING:
STRONG PASSWORD RECOMMENDED-We highly recommend you create a strong password of
your own choosing (Using a minimum of 8 characters, including at least three of the following
categories: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers and special characters.) in order to
increase the security of your product. Further we recommend you reset your password regularly,
especially in the high security system. Resetting the password monthly or weekly can better
protect your product.
2. Click <OK> to save the password and to activate the device.

View password is supported. Click the icon and you can view the actual text of the
password. Click the icon again and the content of the password becomes invisible again.

If you update an older version to the new version, the following dialog box will pop up once
the device starts up. You can click <YES> and follow the wizard to set a strong password.
3. After the device is activated, the Attention box pops up as below.

4. (Optional) Click <Yes> to export the GUID. The Reset Password interface pops up. Click
<Export> to export the GUID to the USB flash drive for password resetting.

5. After exporting the GUID, the Attention box pops up. Click <Yes> to duplicate the password or
<No> to cancel it.
3.3 Using the Unlock Pattern for Login
For the admin user, you can configure the unlock pattern for the device login.
3.3.1 Configuring the Unlock Pattern
After the device is activated, you can enter the following interface to configure the device unlock
pattern.

Steps:
1. Use the mouse to draw a pattern among the 9 dots on the screen. Release the mouse when
the pattern is done.

‒ Connect at least 4 dots to draw the pattern.
‒ Each dot can be connected once only.
2. Draw the same pattern again to confirm it. When the two patterns match, the pattern is
configured successfully.

3.3.2 Logging in via Unlock Pattern
Note:

Only the admin user has the permission to unlock the device.
‒
Please configure the pattern first before unlocking. Please refer to Chapter 3.3.1 Configuring
the Unlock Pattern.

1. Right-click the mouse on the screen and select the menu to enter the interface.

2. Draw the pre-defined pattern to unlock and enter the menu operation.
Note:

You can right click the mouse to log in via the normal mode.

If you have forgotten your pattern, you can select the <Forget My Pattern> or the <Switch
User> option to enter the normal login dialog box.

When the pattern you draw is different from the pattern you have configured, you should try
again.
‒
If you have drawn the wrong pattern 7 times, the account will be locked for 1 minute.
