1. Introduction
1.1 General
• Following the instructions and warnings in this manual ensures a smooth, e󰀩cient and safe handling of the Elephants Trunk.
• Before starting to work with the Elephants Trunk, the operator must have carefully read and understood this manual.
• This manual is a part of the Elephants Trunk and must therefore be kept in the immediate vicinity of the Elephants Trunk.
• This instruction manual constitutes original manufacturer’s instructions in the sense of EC Directive 2006/42/EC.
• GTM Professional is continually striving to further develop its range of products. We therefore reserve the right to make
alterations to the form, technical specications and equipment level of our standard equipment. For this reason, the information
and illustrations in this manual are subject to alterations.
• The warranty will be invalidated in the case of unauthorized intervention on the Elephants Trunk and whenever the safety
instructions, as described in the following enclosures, are not followed.
• This instruction manual is protected by copyright. All rights reserved, especially the right of reproduction, translation and
processing using electronic systems.
• Users are responsible for all damage caused to a third party.
1.2 Description of Elephants Trunk (called ET hereafter)
• The ET is an ergonomic harness developped for the use of (pole mounted) hedge trimmers or handheld leaf blowers. The
hedgetrimmer or leafblower (weighing between 4,5 and 8 kg) is simply clipped onto the steel cable of the balancer, taking the
weight of the machine and transferring it to the whole of your torso. The tension of the spring (preset) in the balancer reduces
the apparent weight of the hedge trimmer by approximately 3 kg. The ET can be used on all hedge trimmers and because the
cable length follows automatically the position of the arms, you can use it at a wide working range. With your ET you will be able
to trim hedges all day long and, furthermore, because you can work with less e󰀨ort you will work faster, more accurate and in
greater safety.

2. Instructions for safety during use
2.1 Training
• Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the manual, and the correct use of the ET before attempting to operate this
equipment. Be familiar with the manual, and correct use of the tools connected to the ET.
• Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these instructions to use the ET. Users must be at least 16 years of age. Local
regulations can restrict the age of the operator.
• Keep in mind, that the operator or user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring to other people or their property. Never
allow children, persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge or people
unfamiliar with these instructions to use the ET.
2.2 Preparation
• Obtain ear protection and safety glasses. Wear them at all times while operating the ET in combination with a hedge trimmer or
other motorized tool.
• While operating the ET always wear substantial footwear and long trousers. Do not operate the ET when barefoot or wearing
open shoes.
• Operate the ET in a stable, upright position. Make sure your workoor is free of obstacles.
• Before using, always visually inspect to see, that:
- All straps of the harness are in good condition and undamaged.
- The steel cable runs smoothly through the tube, across the groove rollers and has no damage.
Never operate the ET while people, especially children, or pets are nearby.
• The user should be aware of the rules and regulations concerning the environment and noise levels.
• It is prohibited to use the ET for other use than described in this manual.
• Do not use the ET in the dark.

3. Operation
3.1 General operation
• Do not operate the ET in rain or other wet circumstances.
• Keep proper balance and footing at all times. Do not overreach.
• Machines should stay in position or slowly lower to the ground when attached to
the ET, this indicates that the balancer works correct and the correct weight of the
machine. When the machine shoots up, the machine is too light or the balancer
doesn’t work correctly. When the balancer doesn’t work correctly, always
contact your dealer.
Never operate the ET with equipment lighter than 4,5 kg. this can cause
dangerous situations when the balancer lifts the equipment towards
your body or face.
Never operate the ET with defective straps or defective buckles.
• Wearing the ET
Adjusting the harness
- Adjust the straps to personal preference. (Fig. 2a)
- When necessary use extensions for waist band (Fig. 2b)
- You can adjust the stability with the slide from shoulders to frame.
Setting up the ET
- Loosen the knobs to adjust the space between your shoulders and the
room above your head. (Fig 3).
After adjusting, fasten the knobs to lock the desired position.
- Loosen the clamp to adjust the space between your hips and shoulders (Fig 4).

an overlap of minimal 4.5 cm of the tubes.
3.2 Maintenance and storage
• Store the ET in storage position (Fig. 5) in a dry place out of the reach of children.
• We suggest to clean the ET after every use. Remove woodchips and dust from the
ET using a soft brush and or cloth.
• Replace worn or damaged parts for safety. Use only genuine replacement parts
and accessories. Article numbers can be found in the Part List Book.
• When the ET is disassembled, make sure that no debris can fall into
the open tubes.

4. Unpacking and assembly
The ET is assembled in package (Fig. 6). To use the ET, put it in correct working position (Fig. 7).
4.1 Parts inside the package
Choking hazard for kids playing with packaging material!
Keep packaging material out of reach from children.
The package contains the following items:
• Pre-assembled ET
• Red carabiner
• CE document
• Hipbelts extension (2x)
• Manual
5. Instructions for use
5.1 Preparation
Check following points before using the ET:
• No damage to the ET or cable (Fig. 8)
• All bolts and nuts tightened rmly
Always respect the safety and environment instructions!
5.2 Which machines can be used?
The ET can be used for reducing the working weight of machines from 4,5 kg up to
8 kg. We recommend to use the ET for hedge trimmers, pole hedge trimmers and
handcarried leaf blowers.
The ET is not meant to reduce the weight of machines weighing less than 4,5 kg.
Reducing the weight of a machine weighing less than 4,5 kg can cause dangerous situations!
The balancer can lift the machine towards your body and or face. Make sure that the carabiner doesn’t interfere with safety
functions of the tool attached.
6. Disposing of Elephants Trunk
When the ET is end-of-life, the ET needs to be scrapped. To do so, take following actions:
• Bring all parts to a specialized waste handling company.

7. Trouble shooting table
Problem Cause Solution
The steel cable is not pulled into the
balancer anymore.
- Steelcable is broken.
- Balancer spring is broken.
- Replace the steel cable or balancer.
- Replace balancer.
Harness parts do not hold their position. - Insu󰀩cient clamping force - Tighten the Knobs & the nut of the
clamp. Applying a bit of grease on the
thread of the knobs helps to tighten them
easier.
When the balancer doesn’t function correctly, always contact your dealer.
8. Warranty conditions
8.1 Warranty
You are entitled to warranty on factory- and component faults provided that the ET is used as described in the manual. Not included
are parts that are subject to wear (see chapter 3.3).
8.2 Terms
For professional use: 6 months.
For private use: 2 years.
8.3 Conditions
The warranty covers the replacement of faulty parts and the corresponding labour, but not the costs of transport. The purchase
invoice is also the warranty certicate.
8.4 Exceptions
The warranty is invalidated when the operating and maintenance instructions, which are provided with the ET, have not been
followed, when an inproper use has been made, when not original spare parts have been used or when unqualied repairers have
tampered with the ET.
8.5 Where
The qualied After-Sale-Service, for repair under warranty, is available from the dealer from whom you have purchased the ET. Ask
for an invoice marked “Warranty Repair” for the repair.

NL 1. Introductie
1.1 Algemeen
• Door de instructies en waarschuwingen uit de handleiding te volgen, verzekert men zich van een gemakkelijke en veilige
bediening van de GTM Professional Elephants Trunk.
• Voordat begonnen wordt met de GTM Professional Elephants Trunk te werken, moet de gebruiker deze handleiding goed
hebben gelezen en begrepen.
• Deze handleiding is een deel van de machine en moet daarom in de buurt van de machine bewaard blijven.
• Deze handleiding bevat originele instructies van de fabrikant volgens EC Directive 2006/42/EC.
• GTM Professional streeft er continu na om onze producten verder te ontwikkelen. We behouden ons daarom het recht om
veranderingen aan te brengen in de vorm, de technische specicaties en het niveau van het apparaat ten opzichte van het
standaard apparaat. Daarom zijn de informatie en illustraties in deze handleiding onderhevig aan verandering.

1.2 Beschrijving van de Elephants Trunk (hierna ET genoemd)
• De ET is een ergonomisch harnas ontwikkeld voor het gebruik met heggenscharen (op stok) of handgedragen bladblazers.
De heggenschaar of bladblazer (tussen de 4,5 kg en 8 kg) wordt eenvoudig aan de staalkabel van de katrol gekoppeld. Hierdoor
worden uw armen ontlast en wordt de massa van het gereedschap verplaatst naar uw gehele lichaam. De veerspanning (vast
ingesteld) van de katrol brengt het gewicht van de heggenschaar terug met circa 3 kg. De ET kan voor alle heggenscharen gebruikt
worden, en omdat de staalkabel automatisch de positie van de armen volgt beschikt u over een groot werkbereik. Met de ET kunt u
een hele dag heggen trimmen en omdat het minder inspannend is kunt u sneller, preciezer en veiliger werken.
