carefully read and pay attention to this instruction book. It contains essential information
on correctly using and ensuring a long useful life of this quality product.
As this instruction book includes all versions of the equipment, including all the different
hydraulic boom and operating unit versions, please pay particular attention to the
paragraphs dealing with your specific model.
This book should be read in conjunction with the ‘Mistblowing technique’ booklet.
The original instruction book is approved and published in English. All other languages are translations of the
original. In the event of any conflicts, inaccuracies or deviations between the English original and other languages

Operator safety
Symbols
These symbols are used in the book and require special attention. The meaning of the four symbols is:
€This symbol means DANGER. Be alert as your safety is involved!
±This symbol means WARNING. Be alert as your safety may be involved!
μThis symbol means ATTENTION. This will guide you on how to correctly and safely use the sprayer equipment.
÷This symbol means NOTE.
Precautions
Please note these precautions and safe operating practices before using the sprayer.
General information
€Read and fully understand this instruction book before using the equipment. It is also equally important that other
operators of the equipment read and understand this book.
If you do not fully understand any part of this instruction book after reading it, please contact your HARDI distributor
for further information before using the equipment.
€Local law may demand that the operator be certified to use this spray equipment. Comply with the law.
€The tractor seat is the safest area when handling the equipment.
€Wear protective clothing. Protective clothing may vary according the chemical product being used. Comply with
regulations.
Wash and change clothes after spraying. Clean the tools if they have become contaminated.
€Do not eat, drink or smoke while spraying or working with contaminated equipment.
In the event of poisoning, immediately seek medical advice. Remember to identify the chemicals used.
Filling and spraying
€Be careful not to hit persons or objects while manoeuvring the spraying equipment, especially when reversing.
€Slow down when driving over uneven terrain as the machine could overturn.
€Keep children away from the sprayer.
€Do not attempt to enter the tank.
€Do not climb under the sprayer unless it has been securely fastened. The boom is only secure when it is placed in the
transport brackets.

Service
€Always pressure test with clean water before filling with chemicals. Do not remove the hose if the machine is turned
on.
€DANGER! Do not exceed the maximum recommended r.p.m.
€Rinse and wash out the equipment after use and before servicing.
€Do not remove the hose if the machine is turned on. Always replace all safety devices or shields immediately after
servicing.
€Disconnect the power supply before servicing, and de-pressurise the equipment after use and servicing.
€If an arc welder is used on the equipment, disconnect any power leads before welding.
€Remove all inflammable or explosive materials from the area.
€The External Cleaning Device should not be used if any part of the equipment has been damaged, including safety
devices, high-pressure hoses, etc.

Overview
Using the mistblower
The HARDI MERCURY mistblower is designed for applying crop protection chemicals. The equipment should only be used
for this purpose. The mistblower must not be used for any other purpose. If there is no special regulations requiring
operators to be certified, you must have received the appropriate training for correctly spraying crops and safely handling
chemicals to avoid unnecessary risks to persons and the environment while spraying.
Roadworthiness
When driving on public roads and other places where the road safety code or where there are other special rules and
regulations for marking and lights on machinery, the machine must be equipped to comply with these regulations.
μATTENTION! The maximum speed is 25 km/h for models without brakes and 40 km/h for models fitted with brakes.
This may vary according to applicable local legislation. Contact your local authorities to find out the maximum speed
limit on roads.

Identification plate
The identification plate is located on the front right-hand side of the
machine and is riveted to the chassis. It indicates the make, model, serial
number, and date of manufacture.
The serial number is also engraved onto the chassis. The number is
found above the identification plate, as indicated in the photograph.
The serial number contains five digits.
Chassis
This is composed of UPN structural profiles that provide the machine with great durability and resistence to breakages and
vibrations. It is manufactured entirely using the most advanced laser machining and automated welding processes. To
protect it against corrosion, a single layer of polyurethane two-component paint has been applied on a high-bonded
sandblasted base during the manufacturing process.
Tank
The main tank is made of impact-proof, UV and chemical-resistant polyethylene. It has a rounded design, with no corners
for easy cleaning and emptying. Nominal content 1000, 1500, 2000, 2300, 3000, 3500, 3700 or 4100 litres. It contains a clear
level indicator, located on the front and another on the side. The front level indicator is visible from the tractor. The filling
hole is located on the top left-hand side, which can be accessed from the step. This enables cleaning of the tank and filling
with chemical products. The main tank includes a built-in clean water tank. The 2000, 3000 and 3700 litre tanks also include
a built-in rinse tank inside the main tank, used to clean the fluid and rinse circuits of the main tank.

Fluid circuit
Diaphragm pump
This robust, low-pressure pump contains 6 diaphragms. It is lubricated exclusively with oil. This type of pump is self-priming
and can run dry for an infinite amount of time. The models are 363/7 - 140 l/min, 363/10 - 194 l/min or 463/10 - 263 l/min
General information - MANIFOLD system
If the machine includes a rinse tank, it is fitted with MANIFOLD valves.
These valves allow the suction and return of the fluid circuit to be
controlled using a handle.
The right valve with the black disc controls suction (main or wash tank).
The left valve with the blue disc controls whether the return goes to
agitation or whether it returns to the pump to close the circuit in order
to wash the fluid circuit.
The arrow on the handle indicates the active function. Each function is
described by a pictogram.
Valves and symbols
The valves are identified by coloured discs fitted on the valves themselves. The symbols correspond to the optional
accessories, and are located on the discs for quick identification and handling. To activate/open a function, turn the lever to
the desired function.
μATTENTION! Only the functions to be used should be activated – the other valves should always be kept closed.
μATTENTION! If the handle of a MANIFOLD valve is too stiff –or too loose (loss of fluid)– the valve needs to be serviced.

Black valve – Black disc = Suction valve
The position of the suction MANIFOLD valve determines where the fluid
supplied comes from. When the arrow on the handle points to a symbol,
the fluid will be supplied by the corresponding tank (the example shows
the main tank). When the arrow points to ‘O’ (centre position), the valve
is closed.

Blue valve – Blue disc = Return valve
The position of the return MANIFOLD valve determines where the
excess flow from the fluid circuit goes. When the arrow on the handle
points to a symbol, the excess fluid will be fully sent towards that
function (the example shows agitation). This valve does not have the ‘0’
position.
3-way suction valve
This valve is located above the suction filter and the flow passes through
it before reaching the suction MANIFOLD. It enables the selection
between suction from the main tank or from the fast filling device.
μATTENTION! If any of the valve handles are too stiff –or too loose
(loss of fluid)– the valve needs to be serviced. For more
information, see the section on ‘Maintenance’.

Circuit Diagram
HLC circuit
The low-pressure fluid circuit is called HLC (Hardi Liquid Circuit). It can only be combined with diaphragm pump models. It
includes a 19Ø pressure hose, pressure filters and a range of plastic fittings. The safety valve is 20 bar.

Pressure manifold
This steel part is located at the front of the machine, beside the control
unit. Agitation, tank flushing (according to model) and the powder
mixer are activated from this manifold using the ball check valves.
It also includes a free ball check valve for connecting the spray gun and
the safety valve of the pressure circuit.
Operating unit
The mistblower can be fitted with different models of operating units:
BKC/2 or EVC/2 for low pressure
The low-pressure operating units are used with the HLC circuit.
MC/2 operating unit
This manual operating unit contains two levers with a long-distance cable for individually opening the spray zones from the
tractor cabin. The pump includes a manual valve for raising or lowering the pressure and a pressure gauge.
SV/2 operating unit
This high-pressure electric operating unit contains a manual pressure valve fitted to the machine and a electric control box
for opening and closing the section valves from the tractor cabin.

Filters
The suction filter captures impurities in the fluid from reaching the pump. It is located on the left side of the front of the
mistblower, beside the pump.
The pressure filters are assembled on the back of the chassis, just behind the blower unit. These filters are assembled as
standard on all models.
It is essential that all filters perform their function correctly, so they should be checked regularly. Pay special attention to the
filter/mesh size combination.
Suction filter
This filter is assembled under the 3-way valve belonging to the suction
circuit.
The standard filtering element is white and has a mesh size of 30
(0.58 mm). For more information on the mesh size, see the section on
‘Technical specifications’.
Pressure filters
The pressure filters are located in the bumper, beside the air discharge
nozzle. In the HLC circuit, the filters are manufactured from synthetic
material.
These filters must be in perfect conditions and cleaned regularly. Pay
special attention to the correct filter/mesh size combination. The mesh
size must always be smaller that the average of the nozzle total flow.
Safety valve
This is located on the right side of the pressure manifold. Its function is
to protect the circuit from abnormal increases in pressure. When the
valve is opened due to overpressure, it allows the flow to pass and
returns it to inside the main tank.
The maximum pressure allowed by this valve depends on the circuit.
The image to the right shows the maximum values allowed.

Agitator
There is a trumpet-type agitator at the back and on each side inside the
tank. These agitators are activated by one of the ball check valves in the
pressure manifold.
In the inner housing (A), they include a 2.5 mm diameter restrictor as
standard. For better tune-up of the machinery, two 5 mm restrictors are
also supplied in case of need.
Powder mixer
Its function is to rinse the filter on the main tanks filling hole when
adding powdered products that do not dissolve properly, which other
wise would form lumps on contact with the water in the tank.'
After using the powder mixer, it must be disconnected as it uses a
significant amount of the available flow and this would affect the rest of
the fluid circuit.
Chemical inductor, TurboFiller (optional)
The TurboFiller allows filling of both powder and liquid spray chemicals
safe and conveniently when standing next to the machine.
The Turbofiller is neatly stowed away to the bay under the main tank
when not in use.
μATTENTION! Local legislation may require chemicals to be filled
by use of a chemical inductor - Always follow local legislation in
force at any time.
TurboFiller suction valve
The valve is used simultaneously with the TurboFiller. The valve has 2
settings: Continuously open or spring loaded normally closed. Open
the valve when chemicals are to be filled into the TurboFiller.

TurboDeflector valve
This TurboDeflector valve activates the Vortex flushing of the
TurboFiller. Lift the lever to lock it in open position for continuous liquid
rotation in the hopper.
Chemical Container Rinsing lever
The upper lever is used for two purposes:
When the TurboFiller lid is open: For rinsing empty containers. Place
the container over the rotating flushing nozzle in the middle of the
TurboFiller to rinse the inside of the container.
When the TurboFiller lid is closed: Use the Chemical Container Rinsing
lever to rinse the hopper when the filling of chemicals is completed.
€DANGER! Do not press the lever unless the multi-hole nozzle is covered by a container as spray liquid may otherwise
hit the operator.
Rinse tank
The rinse tank is coaxially coupled inside the 2000, 3000 and 3800 litre
tanks.
This tank is completely separate and is not connected with the main
tank.
±WARNING! The tank should only be filled with clean water and a
disinfectant agent, and it should only be used for rinsing and
cleaning the equipment inside and out.
