Roadworthiness
When driving on public roadsand other areaswhere thehighway codeapplies, or areaswith specialrules and regulations
for marking and lights on implements, you should observethese and equip implements accordingly.
ATTENTION! Max. driving speed is 25 mph (40km/h). Beaware thatthis may differ due to locallaw. Contactlocal
authorities for information of max. driving speeds!
Sprayer use
TheHARDI® sprayer is for theapplication of crop protection chemicals and liquid fertilizers. Theequipment must only be
used for this purpose. Itis not allowable to use thesprayer for other purposes. If no locallaw demandsthattheoperator
must becertified to use spray equipment, it is strongly recommended to betrained in correctplant protection and in safe
handling of plant protection chemicals to avoid unnecessary risk for persons and theenvironment when doing your spray
job.
Frame
Very strong and compactframe which also hasa strong chemicaland weather resistant electrostatic powder coat. Screws,
nuts, etc. havebeen DELTA-MAGNI treated to beresistant to corrosion.
Tank
Themain tank madeof impact-proof, UV-resistant and chemicalresistant polyethylene, hasa purposeful designwith no
sharp corners for easy cleaning. Nominalcontents 800 gal(3000 model), 1000 gal(3500 model) or 1200 gal(4000 model). A
large, easy to read tank contents indicator is placed besidetheplatform and is visible from thetractor cabin. Thefilling hole
is placed so it canbeaccessed from theplatform. This ensures aneasy access for thefilling, cleaning of thetank, etc. The
sprayer canalso beequipped with a flush tank and a cleanwater tank.

Liquid system
Generalinfo- valvesystem
All functions of thespray circuits are operated via thecentrally situated valvesystem with color coded pictorialsymbols for
easy operation.
Pump
Diaphragmpump with easily accessible valves and diaphragms. Model 1303 with 3diaphragms, 540r.p.m. (6splines). Model
363 or 463 with 6diaphragms. Standard = 540r.p.m. (6splines). Optional= 1000 r.p.m. (20 or 21 splines).
Valves and symbols
Thevalves atthevalvesystem are distinguished by colored identification discson thefunction labels. Symbols
corresponding to every possible function of use are located on thediscsfor easy identification and operation. A function is
activated by turning thehandle towardsthedesired function.
ATTENTION! If a valveis too tightto operate - or to loose (= liquid leakage) - thevalveneedsto beserviced. Please see
thesection ‘Maintenance’ for further information.
Suction valve= Blue symbols
This valveis to selectsuction from main tank or from theflush tank. The
handle is turned so thelabel for required function is directed to the
indicator. If handle is turned to verticalposition (indicator not pointing
ata label) then thevalveis closed.
Pressure valve= Green symbols
Theactivefunction is indicated by theindicator.

Generalinfo
Unloading thesprayer from thetruck
For theunloading of thesprayer, you need a crane. When unloading
with a crane please observethelifting points asshownon thepicture,
and makesure thatthestraps or belts used for lifting are strong enough.
ATTENTION! Only liftthesprayer when thetanksare empty!
Pulling thesprayer atthetie downhooks
For moving thesprayer or loading it to e.g. a truck, it canbepulled in the
hooksattherear-end (A) or a hook canbefastened into thehole in the
front end of thesprayer (B).
Before putting thesprayer into operation
Although thesprayer hasbeen applied with a strong and protectivesurfacetreatment on steel parts, bolts etc. in thefactory,
it is recommended to apply a film of anticorrosion oil (e.g. CASTROL RUSTILO or SHELL ENSISFLUID) on all metalparts in
order to avoid chemicals and fertilizers discoloring theenamel. If this is done before thesprayer is put into operation for the
first time, it will alwaysbeeasy to cleanthesprayer and keep theenamel cleanfor many years. This treatment should be
carried out every time theprotection film is washed off.
Support jack
Thesupport jack is stored in thebracket on thesprayer’srightsidewhen
thesprayer is attached to thetractor. Touse thesupport jack: Liftthejack
off thestoragebracket. Thesupport jack canthen bemounted to the
drawbarextension on either sideaspreferred and secured by a linch pin.
Toremovethesupport jack: Liftthejack, removethelinch pin and pull
out thesupport jack. Secure thejack atthestoragebracket with the
linch pin.

Jack up thesprayer
When thesprayer needswheel mounting, wheel changing, or wheel
bearing changing etc. then jack up thesprayer under theaxle where
shown.
€DANGER! Besure to placesprayer on level and firm ground to
avoid sprayer falling downfrom thejack.
ATTENTION! Itis good safety practiceto use stop wedges atthe
opposite wheel!

Mechanicalconnections
Hitch - adjustment
TheNavigator is equipped with a clevis hitch. Thelower plate is attached
with twobolts and may beremoved if needed. Noother adjustment is
possible.
Swivel hose support
Toprevent hoses and wiring from being damaged by thetractor wheels,
P. T. O . shaftetc. all hoses, cables and wires are held by thehose bracket
fitted to thesprayer platform. Check thatthelength of thehoses and
cables are sufficient by tightturns.
There are twobolts (A) thatcanbechanged to adjust theswivel hose
support. By removing thebottom bolt, thehose support is free to swivel
asthesprayer turns. Thetop bolt canbeplaced in one of three holes to
vary theheightof thesupport.

Hydraulic systems
Generalinfo
Ensure thatsnapcouplers are cleanbefore connection!
After having operated theboom and thesystem hasbeen filled with oil, check tractor’shydraulic oil level and add oil if
necessary.
€DANGER! Test of thehydraulic system should bedone very cautiously. There may beair trapped in thesystem which
cancause violent movements of theboom.
€DANGER! Hydraulic leaks: Never use your fingers to locate a leakagein any part of thehydraulic system. Due to high
pressure, hydraulic oil may penetrate theskin.
Requirements - tractor (SPB/SPC HY-model)
Connection requirements are:
•One single acting outlet for theliftfunction of thespray boom.
•One double acting outlet for thefolding function.
Ensure thatsnapcouplers are cleanbefore connection!
Thehydraulic system requires a minimum oil pressure of 2,175 p.s.i. (150bar), max. oil pressure of 3,050p.s.i. (210 bar) and
anoil capacity of approx. 6.6gal(25 liters).
ATTENTION! After having operated theboom and thesystem hasbeen filled with oil, then check tractor’shydraulic
oil level and add oil if necessary.
±WARNING! Due to thevariation in tractor hydraulic systems and capacities, care should beexercised when initially
operating thesprayer hydraulic cylinders. Itis advisable to adjust thehydraulic flow control downto theminimum
rate before operating thesystem. Adjust/increase theflow control after thesystem is bled of any air, if necessary.
Requirements - tractor (SPB/SPC HZ-model)
Thehydraulic system requires a double acting hydraulic outlet. Thehydraulic hoses are marked with arrowsto indicate
direction of oil flow.
Thehydraulic system requires anoil flow between 6.6- 34.3gal/min. (25 and 130 l/min) and a min. pressure of 2500 p.s.i.
(170 bar).

Transport
Adjusting boom transport position
If theboom wingsdonot rest accurately in thetransport brackets, the
wingscanbeadjusted asdescribed below:
1. Lifttheboom all theway to thetop.
2. Fold theboom into transport position. With thefold cylinder
pressurized, determine if theboom wingsneed to beadjusted
inwardsor outwards.
3. Relievethepressure from thefold cylinder by unfolding theboom
a few inches.
4. If theboom rests to farin on thetransport brackets, loosen thenut
(B) and adjust collar(A) in towardsthecylinder housing.
5. If theboom rests too farout on thetransport brackets, thecollar
(A) hasto goout from thecylinder housing.
6. Secure jamnut (B).
7. Pressurizethecylinder to see if theboom is properly adjusted. If
not, repeattheaboveprocedure until it is correctly adjusted.

4.12
Track width, axles and wheels
Altering thetrack width (optionalcombo axle)
Thetrack width of theadjustable comboaxle on theNavigator 3000/
4000 canbeinfinitely adjusted from 60” to 120”. N oadjustment is
necessary on thefixed 60” or fixed 120” axle.
1. Measure thecurrent track width (center RH tire to center LH tire).
Each sidemust beextended or retracted half thedesired
alteration.
2. Attach thesprayer to tractor and engagetractor parking brake.
3. Placestop wedges in front of, and behind RH wheel. Jack up LH
wheel, support and secure sprayer body.
4. Loosen thejamnuts and bolts (A) for LH wheel axle.
5. Extend or retracttheaxle. Never extend axle insert too far. Some
part of theaxle insert must alwaysbevisible through sighthole (B).
6. Tighten theclamp bolts (A) to a torque of 290 Ft/lb (390 Nm) and
lock thebolts with thejamnuts.
7. Repeattheprocedure on RH wheel.
8. Check if thedistancefrom center of tire to center of rearframe is
equalatRH and LH. Makesure both axle inserts are visible through
sighthole (B). Itmay benecessary to changethewheel offset in
order to achievedesired distance(see instructions below).
9. Retighten bolts and wheel bolts to specified torque after 8hours
of work.
See “50hours service- Wheel bolts and nuts” in the“Maintenance” section for proper torque and tightening sequenceof
wheel hubsto rims.
±WARNING! Securely support thesprayer during axle adjustments. Never attempt to adjust axles with liquid in thetank.
Alwaysblock wheels on opposite sidewhen adjusting axles.
±WARNING! Placea jack under theaxle and liftthewheel to removeload from theclamps before tightening theclamp
bolts to thespecified torque.
±WARNING! Thefront and rearaxle inserts must alwaysbevisible through thesighthole (B), located in thefront and
rearof theaxle assembly. Otherwise, axle is extended too farto besafeand warranty will bevoided.
ATTENTION! Sighthole (B), located in thefront and rearof theaxle assembly, may beused asa quick referencefor a
120” axle width. When theend of each axle insert is centered in thewhole, theaxle spacing will be120” with proper
wheel offset.
Changing thewheel offset
1. Tochangethewheel offset, theLH and RH wheels must beswapped in order to turn therim dish and keep thecorrect
tread direction (tread up in front).
2. Jack up theframe behind both wheels, support and secure sprayer body.
3. Removeboth LH and RH wheels and swapsides (keeping thetread direction thesame). Tighten wheel bolts to
specified torque.
See “50hours service- Wheel bolts and nuts” in the“Maintenance” section for proper torque and tightening sequenceof
wheel hubsto rims.
±WARNING! Securely support thesprayer while swapping wheels. Never attempt to swapwheels with liquid in the
tank. Alwayssecure therearframe when swapping wheels.

6 - Maintenance
Lubrication
Generalinfo
Alwaysstore lubricants clean, dry and cool - preferably ata constant
temperature - to avoid contamination from dirt and condensed water.
Keep oil filling jugs, hoppers and grease guns clean, and cleanthe
lubricating points thoroughly before lubricating. Avoid skin contactwith
oil products for longer periods.
Alwaysfollow theshowndirection concerning recommended quantity.
If no recommended quantity is given, feed lubricator till new grease
becomes visible.
Pictograms in lubrication & oiling plans tell thefollowing:
1. Lubricant to beused (see “Recommended lubricants”).
2. Operating hours before nextlubrication.
ATTENTION! If thesprayer is cleaned with a high pressure cleaner, lubrication of theentire machine is recommended.
