Description
The HLX-LCD and HLX-LCD0520 are replacement touchscreens for the MSP Local Terminal found
in Hayward OmniLogic pool controllers.
Installation
DANGER of Death, Injury or Property Damage if procedure not followed. This accessory
connects to the OmniLogic panel beneath the dead front. Dead front removal is required for this
installation. Power to the OmniLogic panel MUST be shut off before the dead front is removed.
This means a complete shutdown of power to the entire OmniLogic panel.
1. Ensure that power is removed from OmniLogic.
2. Remove the dead front to expose the OmniLogic Main Board.
3 Remove the Local Terminal by first unplugging its ribbon cable.

4. Pull straight out on the Local Terminal to separate it from the mount (refer to the diagram be-
low). To prevent the mount from detaching from the Main Board, you may have to hold down
on the mount while lifting the Local Terminal.
With the MSP Local Terminal removed, you'll be able to gain access to the circuit board. Flip
the MSP so you can see the underside. WARNING: before going further, read steps 5 and
6 and refer to the their diagrams.

5. WARNING: THE LCD SCREEN CABLE CONNECTOR IS VERY FRAGILE. When viewing the
underside of the MSP Local Terminal, you'll see the MSP circuit board which is held in place
by 4 Phillips head screws. Before removing the screws, the LCD screen ribbon cable must be
disconnected from the circuit board. The connector that holds the ribbon cable is very fragile
and care must be taken when attempting to unlock the latch.
Refer to the diagrams above and below and have a clear understanding of how the latch
works before attempting to unlock. There are two "wings", one on each side of the latch, that
must be released. Because the wings are connected to each other, lifting on one will release
both. With your fingernail, gently lift up on one of the wings. If you can't get your fingernail
under the wing, use the included plastic washer tool (two are included). Gently hook the tool
under a wing and lift up. If you still have trouble, use both tools, and lift both wings at the
same time. NOTE: Do not use any metal or rigid tool on the wings as the latch is fragile and
can easily break. Once the latch is released, gently pull the ribbon cable straight out from the
connector.

Carefully use fingernail or included plastic washer tool to lift the connector
latch by the wings.

6. Remove ribbon cable from connector by gently pulling straight out.
7. Unscrew the 4 Phillips head screws and carefully remove the MSP circuit board.
8. Insert the MSP circuit board into the HLX-LCD/HLX-LCD0520 taking care that the ribbon cable
is routed in the same manner as shown on page 3. Do not attempt to insert the cable in the
cable connector at this point.
9. Secure the MSP circuit board into the HLX-LCD/HLX-LCD0520 with the 4 Phillips head
screws.
10. Insert the ribbon cable end into the cable connector. While applying slight forward pressure on
the cable, gently secure the latch.
11. Reverse steps 1 through 4 to install the assembly into the OmniLogic
12. The OmniLogic should return to normal operation with no configuration needed. The last step
is to calibrate the new touchscreen. Refer to the following screens. Once calibration is com-
plete, the system will automatically power cycle.
