Prior to power-up make sure that the mains voltage and
current type specified on the type plate match the mains
voltage and current type at the site of installation and that
the electric circuit used has been fused sufficiently.
Prior to power-up:
DCheck the position of the voltage selection-switch on
the DMC
plus
rear (see figure).
DSelect the switch position according to the mains
voltage applied (factory setup: 230V).
DSelect and adjust the appropriate mains voltage and
connect the device (230V +6%/-10% or
115V+6%/-10%).
The mains plug may only be connected to an earthed
socket (protection class I and II). Before opening the de-
vice it must in any case be switched off. Disconnect the
mains plug. Do in no case use the cable to disconnect the
mains plug. Do not start the device if power cables have
suffered damage. If an amplifier channel has been re-
moved, a blind plate must be used to cover the slot.
Plug-in units may only be operated if installed in the ap-
propriate housing. The device complies with the safety re-
quirements of DIN EN 61 010- part 1 (VDE 0411-part 1)
protection class I.
* Other power packs also possible, see page B-21

To ensure sufficient EMI-proofness, use the Greenline
screening only (see HBM special brochure on the Green-
line screening concept, EMI- proof measurement cables,
G36.35.0).
Appropriate use
The DMC
plus-
system with the connected transducers may
be used for measurement and directly related control and
regulation tasks, only. Any other use is not appropriate.
To ensure safe operation, the transducer may only be used
according to the specifications given in this manual. When
using the transducer, the legal and safety regulations for
the respective application must also be observed. The
same applies if accessories are used.
General dangers in the case of non-observance of the
safety instructions
The DMC
plus-
system complies with the state of the art
and is operationally reliable. If the device is used and
operated inappropriately by untrained personnel, residual
dangers might develop.
Any person charged with device installation, operation,
maintenance or repair must in any case have read and
understood the operating manual and the safety
instructions, in particular.

DMC
plus
Technical specifications

Residual dangers
The DMC
plus-
scope of performance and supply covers
part of the measuring-technology, only. The plant
designer/constructor/operator must in addition design,
realise and take responsibility for the measuring-system’s
safety such that potential residual dangers are minimized.
The respective regulations must in any case be observed.
Residual dangers regarding the measuring system must be
specified explicitly.
After password-protected setups and operations have been
carried through, make sure that potentially connected con-
trols remain in a safe state until the DMC
plus-
system
switching behaviour has been checked.
In this manual, the below symbols are used to refer to
residual dangers:
Symbol: Meaning:
Danger for people
This symbol is used to indicate that, if the safety
instructions are not observed, people might suffer grievous
bodily harm or death.
Symbol:
Meaning:
Danger for property
This symbol is used to indicate that, if the safety
instructions are not observed, property might suffer
damage (destruction of plant components).

Meaning:
CE-mark
The CE-mark is a guarantee by the manufacturer that his
product meets the requirements of the relevant EG Directi-
ves (see declaration of conformity at the end of these ope-
rating instructions).
Safe operation
Do only quit error messages if the reason for the error has
been eliminated and there is no more danger.
Reconstruction and modifications
HBM’s express consent is required for modifications
regarding the DMC
plus-
system construction and safety.
HBM does not take responsibility for damage resulting from
unauthorized modifications.
In particular, repair and soldering works on the boards
(replacement of components except for EPROMS) are pro-
hibited. If complete componentry is replaced use original
HBM components, only.

DMC
plus
characteristics:
The DMC
plus
is a digital amplifier system with up to 28
channels (2 channels per amplifier plug-in unit) that is 100%
computer-controlled.
The system design is characterised by its bus structure similar
to that of a microprocessor system. All amplifier plug-in units
and function boards in the DMC
plus
are connected to theCP03
Central processing unit in parallel via a data and control bus.
The individual device plug-in units can be connected as
desired. Free slots are also possible.
DMC
plus
features:
DThe system is controlled by a microprocessor. It enables up
to 28 quantities to be measured simultaneously on all
channels and converts the analogue measurements into
digital signals.
DDigital filtering enables the frequency response for each
channel to be optimally adapted to the measurement task.
DMeasuring rates of up to 9600 measurements per second
and per channel make the DMC
plus
the right solution for
the complete range of mechanical measurement problems.
DIts high accuracy and a resolution of max. 20 bits also
enable the DMC
plus
to be used for precision
measurements.
DThe integral measurement memory for up to 40.000
measured values (optionally 500.000 measurements)
enhances the realtime-capacities of the connected
computer.
DThe device parameters and the measurements are stored
and the data is protected against power failure.
