2. Description
2.1 Use of the product as directed
The PMP 34ತF is a self-levelling point laser which allows a single person to level, plumb, align and transfer
right angles quickly and accurately. The tool features four coincident laser beams (beams that originate from
the same point). All beams have the same range of 30m (range depends on the brightness of ambient light).
The tool is designed for use mainly in interiors, for determining and checking vertical lines, alignment lines,
and for marking plumb points.
When the tool is used outdoors, care must be taken to ensure that the conditions correspond to working
indoors. For example:
Marking the position of partition walls (at right angles and in the vertical plane).
Aligning components to be installed or sections of a structure in three axes.
Checking and transferring right angles.
Transferring points marked on the floor to the ceiling.
Modification of the tool is not permissible.
Observe the information printed in the operating instructions concerning operation, care and maintenance.
To avoid the risk of injury, use only genuine Hilti accessories and insert tools.
The tool and its ancillary equipment may present hazards when used incorrectly by untrained personnel or
when used not as directed.

In addition to the information relevant to safety
given in each of the sections of these operating
instructions, the following points must be strictly
observed at all times.
5.2 General safety rules
a) Do not render safety devices ineffective and do
not remove information and warning notices.
b) The laser visibility glasses have no protective
function and do not protect your eyes from laser
light. As the laser visibility glasses restrict color
vision, they should be worn only when working
with this tool and must not be worn while driving
a vehicle on a public road.
c) Keep laser tools out of reach of children.
d) Failure to follow the correct procedures when
opening the tool may cause emission of laser
radiation in excess of class 2. Have the tool
repaired only at a Hilti service center.
e) Do not open the casing of the tool.
f) Check the condition of the tool before use. If the
tool is found to be damaged, have it repaired at
a Hilti service center.
g) Check the accuracy of the tool before using it to
take measurements.
h) The tool must be checked at a Hilti service

7.2 Examples of applications
7.2.1 Vertical alignment of sections of a steel
structure 3
7.2.2 Vertical alignment of door and window
frames 4
7.2.3 Alignment of drywall track for a partition
wall 5
7.2.4 Alignment of pipe fastenings 6
7.3 Checking
7.3.1 Checking the vertical (plumb) beam 7
1. Make a mark on the floor (a cross) in a high
room (e.g. in a stairwell or hallway with a height
of 5–10 m).
2. Place the tool on a smooth, level (horizontal)
surface.
3. Switch the tool on.
4. Position the tool with the lower beam on the
center of the cross.
5. Mark the position of the vertical beam on the
ceiling. Attach a piece of paper to the ceiling
before making the mark.
6. Pivot the tool through 90°.
NOTE The reference beam must remain on the
center of the cross.
7. Mark the position of the vertical beam on the
ceiling.
8. Repeat the procedure after pivoting the tool
through 180° and 270°.
NOTE The resulting 4 marks define a circle in
which the intersection of the diagonals d1 (1 –
3) and d2 (2 – 4) marks the exact center of the
plumb point.
7.3.1.1 Calculation of accuracy
The result (R) provided by this formula (RH = room
height) refers to the tool’s accuracy “in mm at 10 m”
(formula (1)). This result (R) should be within the
specification for the tool (3 mm at 10 m).
7.3.2 Checking the forward beam and/or
perpendicular beam for height
deviation 8
1. Place the tool on a smooth, level surface approx.
20 cm from the wall (A) with the laser beam
directed toward the wall (A).
2. Mark the center of the laser beam on the wall (A)
with a cross.

3. Pivot the tool through 180° and mark the center
of the laser beam (4) on the opposite wall (B)
with a cross.
4. Place the tool on an even, level surface approx.
20 cm from the wall (B) with the laser beam
directed toward the wall (B).
5. Mark the center of the laser beam on the wall (B)
with a cross.
6. Pivot the tool through 180° and mark the center
of the laser beam on the opposite wall (A) with a
cross.
7.3.2.1 Calculation of accuracy
1. Measure the distances d1 between 1 and 4 and
d2 between 2 and 3.
2. Mark the mid points of d1 and d2.
If the reference points 1 and 3 are located on
different sides of the mid point, then subtract d2
from d1.
If the reference points 1 and 3 are located on the
same side of the mid point, then add d1 and d2
together.
3. Divide the result by twice the length of the room
(room length x 2).
The maximum permissible error is 3 mm at 10
m.
Example d1 = 6 mm/ d2 = 4 mm/ room length
(D) = 10 m
Points 1 and 3 are on different sides of the exact
horizontal.
7.3.3 Checking the angle between the
forward beam and the perpendicular
beam 9
1. Place the tool on a smooth, horizontal surface at
the edge of a room with a length of at least 10 m
and width of at least 5 m (or with the same 2:1
size ratio).
NOTE The floor surface must be smooth and
level.
2. Switch the tool on.
3. Fix a target plate at a distance of at least 10 m
from the tool so that the forward beam strikes
exactly the center of the target plate.
4. Using a second target plate, mark a reference
cross on the floor at a distance of 5 m (measure
the distance) from the first target plate.
The beam must strike the second target plate
exactly in the center (cross-hairs).
5. Fix the second target plate at a distance of 5 m
from the reference cross (marked at step 4) so
that the vertical line on the second target plate
lies exactly in the center of the front laser beam.
6. Now position the tool with the lower plumb beam
exactly on the center of the reference cross (from
step 4) so that the vertical line on the first target
plate (from step 3) lies exactly in the center of
the front beam.
7. Fix another target plate or a piece of stout paper
at a distance of 5 m from the perpendicular
beam, half-way, in the middle. Mark the center
point (d1) of the perpendicular beam.
8. Pivot the tool clockwise through 90° (as seen
from above). The lower plumb beam must remain
in the center of the referencecross and the center
of the perpendicular beam must lie exactly on
the vertical line on the second target plate (from
step 5).
9. Mark the center point (d2) of the front beam on
the target plate or paper (from step 7).
NOTE The horizontal distance between d1 and
d2 must be no greater than 3 mm at a working
distance of 5 m.
7.3.4 Calculation of accuracy (g) at a working
distance other than 5 m
g=(3 mm x working distance (m))/5 m.
In this case, the horizontal distance between d1 and
d2 must not exceed the value (g) at the defined
working distance (m).

2. Beskrivelse

5. Sikkerhedsanvisninger
5.1 Grundlæggende sikkerhedsanvisninger
Ud over de sikkerhedstekniske forskrifter i de en-
kelte afsnit i denne brugsanvisning skal følgende
retningslinjer altid overholdes.
5.2 Generelle sikkerhedsforanstaltninger
a) Undlad at deaktivere sikkerhedsanordninger og
fjerne advarselsskilte af nogen art.
b) Laserbrillerne er ikke laserbeskyttelsesbriller,
og de beskytter ikke øjnene mod laserstråler.
Brillerne må ikke bruges i trafikken, da de
begrænser farvesynet. Brillerne må kun bruges
ved arbejde med dette instrument.
c) Opbevar laseren utilgængeligt for børn.
d) Der kan forekomme højere stråling end klasse
2, hvis de korrekte procedurer ikke overholdes,
når kabinettet åbnes. Fjernbetjeningen må kun
repareres af Hiltis kundeservice.
e) Adskil ikke instrumentet.
f) Kontrollér fjernbetjeningen før brug. Hvis fjern-
betjeningen er beskadiget, skal den sendes til
reparation hos Hilti.
Ud-

5.3 Elektrisk
a) Instrumentet skal altid sendes uden
batterier/akku i.
b) Af miljøhensyn skal instrumentet bortskaffes
i overensstemmelse med gældende national
lovgivning. Er du i tvivl, så spørg producenten.
5.4 Formålstjenlig indretning af
arbejdspladserne
a) Sørg for at sikre det sted, hvor instrumentet
benyttes.
Sørg for at have et sikkert
tionsfrit).
e) Anvend kun fjernbetjeningen inden for de defi-
nerede driftsgrænser.
5.5 Elektromagnetisk kompatibilitet
instrumenter (f.eks. navigationsudstyr i fly) forstyr-
res.
5.6 Laserklassificering
tjenes uden yderligere beskyttelsesforanstaltninger.
Øjenlågets lukkerefleks beskytter øjet, hvis man kom-
mer til at kigge kortvarigt ind i laserstrålen. Medicin,
fleks. Dog bør man, ligesom med solen, undgå at
kigge direkte ind i lyskilden. Undlad at pege på andre
personer med laserstrålen.
6. Ibrugtagning
6.1 Isætning af batterier 2
