Hoffrichter TREND III Reference guide

Clean the device
Unplug the mains plug from the device. Wipe the device down with a cloth slightly dampened
with soapy water. Do not use chemical cleaning agents or solvents. Then wipe with a cloth moist-
ened with clean water to remove any soapy water. The device must be completely dry before use.
Cleaning the mask
Clean the mask according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Cleaning the tube circuit and the exhalation valve
1. Clean the tube or the exhalation valve with mild soapy water. Do not use any other agents!
2. Rinse the tube or the exhalation valve thoroughly with clear water.
3. Let the tube or the exhalation valve air-dry completely.
When using other tube circuits or the exhalation valve, the manufacturer’s instructions must be
observed. Tube circuits or exhalation valves not designed for reuse must be disposed of properly.
Cleaning the humidifier
Clean the humidifier according to the AquaTREND III-NG user’s manual.

Cleaning/exchanging the air filter
Hinweise:
•If the air filter is clogged, the breathing air may be overheated.
•Under certain environmental conditions, germs may form in the air filter. Observe the instruc-
tions on exchanging and cleaning it.
•Only use the device when the filter cassette is inserted and clean the filter regularly. If the fil-
ter is missing or completely soiled, the device may be damaged and emit unpleasant odours.

Cleaning the coarse filter
Clean the course filter once weekly.
1. Remove the filter cassette from the device.
2. Remove the coarse filter (black) from the filter cassette.
3. Clean the filter with mild soapy water. Do not use any other agents!
4. Rinse the filter thoroughly with clear water.
5. Let the filter air-dry completely.
6. Insert the cleaned filter back into the filter cassette.
7. Slide the filter cassette into the device.
Instead of cleaning the filter, you can insert a new one.
Replacing the fine filter
Replace the white fine filter monthly, or in case of heavy soiling.
1. Pull the filter cassette from the device.
2. Remove the coarse filter (black).
3. Remove the fine filter (white) and replace it with a new one.
4. Insert the coarse filter back into the cassette.
5. Slide the filter cassette into the device.

Explanation of symbols on the pressure bar
Symbol Meaning
S
Spontaneous breathing detected
The device has detected spontaneous breathing by the patient. This triggered the
inspiration trigger. The symbol will remain visible during inspiration and will shut
off with the beginning of the expiration.
M
Safety cycle active
The patient is not breathing spontaneously. In ST mode, the patient continues to
receive therapy in T mode. If the device is in S mode and the safety frequency is
activated, therapy is provided with fixed parameters (frequency, I:E).
Explanation of symbols on the home screen
Symbol Meaning
Humidifier heating is on
level 1 →lowest heating level
level 5 →highest heating level
Humidifier heating is in standby
Humidifier heating is off
Humidifier error
Humidifier is not connected

Alarm off
Navigate the menus
To select a button or a menu item, turn the MFK. To activate a button or a menu item, press the
MFK. To change a parameter while the menu item is activated, turn the MFK. Confirm the setting
by pressing the MFK.
Beginning therapy
1. Put on the mask.
2.
Press the on/off key. If the mask test and soft start are not enabled, therapy begins with the
set therapeutic pressure.
3. If the mask test is enabled, the device starts with the set max. therapeutic pressure for the set
time (0 – 90 s). In this time, make sure the mask is positioned properly to prevent leaks. If soft
start is not enabled, therapy begins with the set therapeutic pressure.
4. If soft start is enabled, the pressure increases gradually in the set time from the initial pressure
for soft start to the prescribed therapeutic pressure.
Please note: The mask test and soft start can be cancelled by pressing the on/off key. Next, ther-
apy begins with the set therapy pressure.
Ending therapy
To end therapy, press the on/off key.
Explanation of the toolbar icons
Symbol Meaning
USB stick is connected
When warnings occur, no sound is emitted.
Start-Stop-Automatic with countdown timer
After the timer is up, therapy stops.
75 s Mask test with countdown timer
After the timer is up, either therapy or soft start begins.
15 s Disconnection with countdown timer
The tube circuit/mask was disconnected. After the timer is up, the mask
warning is activated.
