ABOUT THE COMPUTER FEATURES
This chapter introduces the CT45/CT45 XP mobile computer series. Use this
chapter to learn about the basic computer features, functions, and accessories.
Note: Throughout this manual, all versions of the mobile computer are referred to as the
CT45/CT45 XP unless information is specific to a particular model. The device
applications and settings vary by computer model and OS version. Your computer
may not include all the features shown in the manual.
About the Mobile Computer
Honeywell’s CT45/CT45 XP mobile computer series, built on the newest
generation Mobility Edge™ platform, delivers real-time connectivity, advanced data
capture, and future-proof investment protection. All models come equipped for
fast Wi-Fi connectivity with a WLAN 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax* radio, Bluetooth
wireless radio technology that includes Bluetooth Low Energy support, and
integrated Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. The CT45/CT45 XP series
also includes front and rear facing color cameras, a dedicated push-to-talk (PTT)
button for common applications that support PTT, and a USB Type C connector for
both charging and communication use.
Wireless WWAN radio equipped models provide additional connectivity for high
speed data and quality voice support across all network technologies. In addition,
the integrated global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver on WWAN models
provides GPS protocol support for both L1 and L5 bands that includes
Simultaneous GNSS Receiver support for GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and Beidou,
Assisted GPS.
The CT45 XP offers the added benefit of a warm swap battery feature and Device
Finder app compatibility when the mobile phone is registered with Operational
Intelligence™. Optional CT45 XP model configurations include features such as
advanced Wi-Fi 6 technology, secondary Bluetooth Low Energy wireless
communication support.

About the Battery
The computer uses a rechargeable Li-ion battery as its main power source. Several
factors determine the life of the battery, such as display brightness, display
timeout, input device, extreme temperature, and battery usage. Honeywell
recommends that you keep the battery charged at all times to prevent data loss.
CT45/CT45 XP computers are designed for use with battery model CT50-BTSC
manufactured for Honeywell International Inc. When ordering a replacement
battery, it is important to order by part number and not only by model number.
See Battery Part Numbers on page 6 for guidance on the correct battery part
number for your unit configuration.

Charge the Battery Before Use
The mobile computer ships with a partially charged battery. Charge the battery
with a CT40/CT45 series charging device for a minimum of 3 hours.
Note: Using the computer while charging the battery increases the time required to reach
a full charge.
About the USB Type C Connector
You can use a USB cable to charge the mobile computer from a host device (e.g.,
laptop or desktop computer). The connected host device must supply a minimum
power output of 5V, 0.5A to the mobile computer.
Note: If the mobile computer is drawing more current than supplied by the charging source,
charging will not take place.

Caution: Read Battery Recommendations and Safety Precautions on page 12
and all cautionary markings on the battery, charging peripheral, and
device using the battery before attempting to install, use, or charge
the battery.

Battery Replacement
If your battery power is low, you need to either charge the battery in the computer
or replace it with a charged battery.
Before Attempting to Remove the Battery
Always do the following before removing the battery:
• If you have a CT45 model, power off the computer.
• If you have a CT45 XP model, place the unit in Swap Battery mode (see below).
CT45 XP Swap Battery Mode
Swap Battery mode places the computer in a lower power state so that the battery
can be removed for a short time. This feature is not available on CT45 models.
To activate Swap Battery mode:
1. Press and hold the Power button until the options menu appears.
2. Touch Swap Battery and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Once you replace the battery, press the Power button.

Remove the battery
1. Depending on the model type either power Off the computer or place it in
battery swap mode. See Before Attempting to Remove the Battery on page 7.
2. Release the hand strap.

3. Unlock the battery. Press and hold down the small button on the battery latch,
and then slide the latch toward the unlock icon. The battery will pop-up slightly
on the edge when the latch is released.
4. Lift up on the edge of the battery and remove it from the computer.
Install the Battery
1. Insert the charged battery into the computer. See Battery Part Numbers on
page 6.

2. Attach the hand strap.
3. Press the Power button.
About the Battery Status
Use the battery icon in the Status bar at the top of the screen to see the charge
level of your battery. If you want more detailed information on your battery, such
as usage time, charge remaining on the battery, or battery health information,
open the Settings app and tap Battery.

The Battery status LED color and

indicates the charging status of the

Icon Status
The battery charge is at 100%.
The battery charge is at 50%.
The battery charge is low. You need to charge or replace the battery soon.
The battery is critically low. You need to replace the battery now or connect the computer
to a charging accessory.
The computer is connected to external power and the battery is charging.
There is a battery error. Install another battery. If the problem persists, call Honeywell
Technical Support.

About the Battery Status LED Setting
You can change the behavior of the Battery status LED if the out-of-box behavior
for a charging battery (blinking green) is not acceptable to your environment.
You can choose one of three options:
•Default Battery LED (optional Android OS configuration)
•Honeywell Battery LED (factory default, out-of-box configuration)
• No Battery LED
Honeywell Battery LED Behavior (Factory Default/Out-of-Box Configuration)
Default Battery LED Behavior (Optional Android OS Configuration)
Select the No Battery LED setting if you want to use the LED as a notification LED
for applications or device management solutions. For more information on how to
use the LED as a notification LED, see http://developer.android.com/guide/
topics/ui/notifiers/notifications.html.
Change the Battery Status LED Behavior
To change the battery status LED behavior:
1. Swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen to access all apps.
2. Tap Settings > Honeywell Settings > Battery LED.
Connected to Power LED State Description
No Blinking amber Battery level is below 15%
No Off Battery level is more than 15%
Yes Steady amber Battery level is between 0% and 60%
Yes Blinking green Battery level is between 60% and 95%
Yes Steady green Battery level is above 95%
Either Blinking red Battery error

No Off Battery level is 15% or more
