QUICK START GUIDE HONEYWELL 1031030 AND UVEX S0550X EYEWEAR

OPERATING CONTROLS:
GETTING TO KNOW YOUR EYEWEAR:
Your safety eyewear allows you to communicate with your cellular or smart phone, and any other Bluetooth enabled voice
communication product. It also allows you to listen to stereo music from any Bluetooth enabled music-play device.
‘Bluetooth’ is the method of radio communication many products use to communicate short distances without wires.
USING YOUR EYEWEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME:
First, prepare your eyewear to be connected to your cell or smart phone. Turn it on by pressing the ‘Function’ button and prepare it to
‘Pair’ for the first time. ‘Pair’ means that your eyewear, and only yours, is connected to your cell phone or another device of your choice,
and only that device. Turn the eyewear on and off by using the ‘Function’ button indicated in the picture.
To prepare to 'Pair', turn your eyewear off, as indicated by the function button not blinking any color.
Turn the eyewear off by pressing and holding the ‘Function’button for 5-8 seconds, during which it will blink blue 3 times, blink red 3
times, and turn itself off. Release the Function button. The eyewear is off when the ‘Function’ button is no longer blinking.
To ‘Pair’, press and hold the ‘Function’button until the blue light stays on continuously. It will first blink blue, but you must continue to
hold the ‘Function’ button down until the blue light is on continuously.
Turn your cell phone or music player's Bluetooth feature to on or active, then in its Bluetooth menu, locate and press `Pair' or ‘Link’.
Some cell phones may ask for the eyewear’s pairing identity, code or key, before the pairing process can be completed. If asked, type in
‘0000’.
Most phones are then satisfied with the pairing identity, and ask you to ‘Pair?’ or `Link?’. Click ‘Yes’ on your phone. Then the phone and
your eyewear are paired, meaning they can communicate across a secure Bluetooth connection from that time forward. Your eyewear’s
blue light changes from continuously blue to blinking blue
Most phones then ask if you want to ‘Connect?’, so your eyewear and cellphone are not only paired, but are ready to communicate. Click
‘Yes’ and your eyewear is ready to receive continual voice communication and music from your phone.

Once your eyewear is paired with your Bluetooth enabled device, it will normally `Link’ or `Connect' each time it is turned on, so as to
send and receive voice communication and music to and from only that device. With some cell and smart phones, on occasion you may
have to go to the Bluetooth menu and instruct your phone to again `Pair’ or ‘Link’, then ‘Connect’ to your eyewear.
To make a call, use your cell phone as normal. You do not have to press any button on your eyewear.
If your cell phone has voice-dial capability, press the ‘Function’button once, then speak into your eyewear so your cell phones dials.
To answer a call, press the ‘Function’button once and release. To hang up, press the ‘Function’button once and release.
All music play functions are controlled by your cell/smartphone and music player. The volume controls on your eyewear may or may not
control the volume set on your cell/smartphone, or music player.
After you have your eyewear paired for the first time, you may turn it off at any time by pressing and holding the ‘Function’button for 5-8
seconds, during which it will blink blue 3 times, then blink red 3 times, then turn itself off.
You may turn your eyewear on at any time, by pressing and holding the ‘Function’button down for 3 seconds, until it flashes blue every
second or two.
YOUR EYEWEAR’S POWER SYSTEM:
You eyewear, when fully charged, provides about 6 hours of continuous voice communication and about 8 hours of continuous music
play, dependent on type of cell or smart phone used, and noise environment where eyewear is worn.
Your eyewear will remain in standby for about 7 days, when it is not used for talk or to play music.
A normal full charge takes about 2 ½ hours.
CHARGING YOUR EYEWEAR:
The eyewear must be turned off before charging.
Pull out the charging port cover located on the bottom of the right side of your eyewear, and plug the small end of your USB charging
cable into the port.
Plug the larger end of your USB cable into any USB port on your computer, or in your car.
Before fully charged, your eyewear’s ‘Function’ button will glow red.
When fully charged, the ‘Function’ button will glow blue, or turn off completely.
Remove the USB cable, and firmly re-insert the charging port cover.

distort the eyewear.

PERFORMANCE
Q: Does my eyewear store music files?
A: No, your eyewear only receives streaming stereo from your music playing device.
Q: How do I listen to music from my iPod, certain versions of which are Bluetooth-enabled?
A: You may purchase a variety of Bluetooth adapters for your 40-pin iPod. One that works well with our eyewear is the Motorola D-650 Bluetooth
adapter. You may find it, and many others listed online at various sellers, including Amazon.com
Q: How far from my communication device will my eyewear work?
A: Your eyewear is designed to communicate with your cell or smartphone worn on your belt, or, your music player in your hand. However, it should
operate normally without dropping its Bluetooth connection up to a range of about 20'.
Q: Sometimes the connection between my eyewear and cell phone breaks down and I miss a few words, even when the cell phone seems close enough
to the eyewear. Why?
A: Bluetooth reception can be problematic in some situations. For example, holding your hand over your cell phone when it is communicating with your
eyewear can break up the connection. So can one layer of material, such as a coat or jacket. So, you, like all of us that use other ear-worn Bluetooth
devices, may need to wear your cell or smartphone on your belt, or otherwise make it available for a clear Bluetooth connection.
Q: The people I call using my eyewear says my voice sounds a little `artificial'. Is that normal?
A: Yes, the noise attenuation system of your eyewear thoroughly and beneficially manipulates your voice, to deliver a clear message to the person you
are calling, even if the tone of your voice has changed somewhat.
Q: How can I hear the best possible music quality through my eyewear?
A: Insert your eyewear ear plugs firmly, but not painfully, into your ear canal, so the rich, bass tones of music delivery are maximized.
Q: Music streamed to my eyewear sounds hollow, scratchy, and of generally poor quality.
A: You may have paired your eyewear with your Bluetooth enabled computer, or your Bluetooth adaptor connected to your computer, as a 'Headset' or
Bluetooth Headset", or your computer or device does not support A2DP. To receive streaming high fidelity stereo (along with normal voice
communication), your computer or device must support A2DP, and your eyewear must be installed as a `Handsfree Device'.
Q: My eyewear doesn't work very well with Skype, even though identified as a `Handsfree Device' in Skype's Tools/Options/Audio Settings section.
A: Skype and many Bluetooth adaptor suppliers have not yet established a standard allowing for reliable, consistent Skype calling using voice devices
(like our eyewear) with Bluetooth adapters. This is not the fault of your eyewear. Advances will follow that will allow for more reliable connection with
Skype, using Bluetooth adapters.
Q: I need to use my eyewear with a walkie-talkie.
A: You eyewear will pair only with walkie-talkie that are Bluetooth enabled.

Q: How long is my eyewear's guarantee?
A: Your eyewear is unconditionally guaranteed against failure of any manufactured part for 12 months.
Q: How long should my battery last?
A: Your rechargeable Lithium-polymer battery will last longer than 12 months.
Q: Can I use my eyewear while it is charging?
A: No.
Q: Can I use my eyewear after only a few minutes of charring, if it was totally depleted?
A: No. This is a highly beneficial feature, as we must warn the wearer of limited battery life, so he or she has time to end their call. Therefore, you
cannot charge a depleted eyewear for only a few minutes to make a short call.
Q: Is my eyewear waterproof?
A: No. It is reasonably water resistant, but is not made to work in (or after immersion in) water.
Q: Is any eyewear maintenance required?
A: No, other than periodic cleaning of your eyewear's lenses and, replacement of the disposable noise attenuating ear plugs.
