platform steps for use in
environments where electricity

Code 84606/08/10
Never push the equipment beyond its design limits. If
it does not enable you to do what you want with
reasonable ease, assume you have the wrong type of
access equipment for the job. Contact your local HSS Hire
for advice.
When not in use, store the equipment somewhere
clean, dry and safe from thieves.
Tie steps in the closed position before transporting
them. If transporting on a roof rack, tie down
securely.
Fold the steps up and give them a final clean up ready
for return, to your local HSS Hire.

GENERAL SAFETY
Check the equipment’s condition before use. If it
shows signs of damage or excessive wear – notably to
ladder feet, rungs or bracing bars, return it to your local HSS
Hire immediately.
Ensure the work area is well lit and ventilated, if in
doubt, ask about lighting and ventilation equipment at
your local HSS Hire.
Keep you feet in the middle of the rung/steps and climb
gripping the side firmly with both hands. Always climb
on the outer face never on the underside.
Never lean to one side to reach and never do
anything that involves applying a lot of force, the
steps could topple over.
Always set the steps up on a firm, level, non-slip
surface. On soft ground, stand the steps on boards to
stop it sinking in. Alternatively, hire a ladder safety foot from
local HSS Hire. Make sure the step ladders are fully
extended, never use them partly open.
The steps have a
hinged brace fitted between the two sections, these
must be locked before using the steps.
Before
entering the platform ensure the platform safety chain
is in place and it functions correctly.
