Huawei P30 Pro Installation guide

FAQ
Why does part of the LCD screen become yellow, and the bottom portion dim, while the screen
colours and brightness of different areas uneven?
All Huawei products undergo rigorous display testing to ensure that their colour and brightness
fluctuations are properly controlled. This is normal and does not indicate an issue with your
phone.
To meet the preferences of different users, colour temperature adjustment is available. Go to:
EMUI 5.X and earlier: Settings > Display > Colour temperature
EMUI 8.X: Settings > Display > Colour mode > Colour temperature
EMUI 9.0: Settings > Display > Colour & eye comfort > Colour mode & temperature
Magic UI 2.0.1: Settings > Display > Colour mode & temperature
then touch or drag the spot on the colour circle, or touch Warm or Cold to adjust the colour
temperature to comfort your eyes.
What should I do if the middle area of the screen is insensitive, intermittently responsive, or
unresponsive to touch commands?
Perform the following to troubleshoot:
1. Ensure that you perform screen operations correctly when you are using the virtual
navigation keys. Touch the keys or icons precisely and keep in fingertip in contact with
the screen when swiping.
To prevent touching an app icon by mistake when you are using a virtual key, a narrow touch
dead-zone is set between app icons and the navigation bar. In addition, a touch dead-zone is also
set in the middle of the three navigation keys (as shown in the following picture). Therefore,
make sure you touch the centre of the virtual navigation key. If this affects your normal use, try
switching to the front navigation button.

*The picture shown is for illustration purpose only. The actual screen prevails.
The navigation bar may be unresponsive when you touch it quickly and repeatedly. This is a
built-in Android feature to help avoid misoperations. It is recommended that you avoid touching
virtual keys in rapid succession.
To prevent you from accidentally starting an app, you can only open apps by touching the centre
of an app icon.
2. The screen may become insensitive to your touch commands due to sweat, water, or dirt
on your finger or the screen. It is recommended that you keep your hands and phone
clean and dry.
3. Check whether the screen protective film is too thick. Tempered glass film may affect
touch control. It is recommended that you use the standard screen protective film
provided by Huawei.
4. If the touchscreen does not respond when you answer a call, it may be because you have
enabled Touch-disable mode before putting your phone into your pocket or placing it on
a conductive desktop. If so, press the power button to turn on the screen and resolve the
issue.
5. Ensure your Internet connection is stable. If your Internet connection is too slow, apps
will become unresponsive. Switch to another Internet network and try again.
6. Having too many apps running at the same time may cause the touchscreen to become
unresponsive. If so, clear the apps or restart your phone. If your phone is responding
slowly, it may exhibit the following behaviour: Game apps load slowly during startup;
playback of videos or songs is not smooth; a black screen or erratic display occurs during
video playback; the phone does not respond and displays an error message when an app
is opened or a feature is enabled. If any of the aforementioned issues occurs, close the
background apps that are not in use, use Phone Manager to optimise the phone system, or
restart the phone. The problem should then be resolved.
7. Regarding external environmental factors:
If there is a strong electromagnetic field nearby (such as one created by a microwave oven,
electromagnetic oven, or power station), it is recommended that you move to a position far away
from the electromagnetic field, and then check whether the problem is resolved. Your
touchscreen may malfunction if there is a strong electromagnetic field nearby.

If the ambient temperature is abnormally high (higher than 50°C) or low (lower than –20°C), it is
recommended that you move to a different location and try again. Your touchscreen may
malfunction if the ambient temperature is too high or too low.
8. If the touchscreen becomes insensitive only when certain third-party apps are used,
update your phone and the apps to the latest version. You may experience some of the
following touchscreen issues when using third-party apps:
a. The WeChat app requires a relatively large touch input to register a left or right
slide. If your touch input is too small, WeChat may not register the input.
b. The WeChat comment icon has a small touch target size, therefore, it is possible
for your input to not be registered if you don't touch the icon at exactly the right
spot.
c. The phone screen freezes due to compatibility issues with a third-party desktop.
Design faults in third-party apps can cause touchscreen insensitivity. Huawei will actively work
with third-party app developers to solve the problem, so please check back regularly for third-
party app updates.
9. Back up your data, restore your phone to factory settings or update your phone system to
the latest version, and try again.
The Touchscreen is unresponsive to touch
If the touchscreen is lagging or unresponsive, do follow the steps below:
If the problem occurs in a certain app, it may be caused by the app itself. It is suggested to
enter your feedback in the app.
If the problem occurs in every app that you use, follow these steps:
1. Check the screen
Make sure your screen is clean and dry, as well as free from any debris that may cause
the screen to be unresponsive. Wipe the screen clean and try again later.
If a protective film is in use, make sure the film is not causing the unresponsive problem.
Remove the film and try again. It is suggested that the protective film in use is not too
thick.
2. Check the settings
If the Gloves mode is switched on, the touchscreen becomes extra sensitive. When you
touch the screen without glove, the screen may not respond properly. It is suggested to
switch off the Gloves mode when you are not wearing gloves.

Go to Settings, search for Gloves mode (The Gloves mode is not available on certain
devices, skip the step if not applicable.)
Check the accessories
If the phone is plugged in with a charger or data cable of other brands when the
unresponsive problem occurs, use a standard original Huawei charger and data cable
instead, and try again.
Check the environmental problem
If the phone is used in a temperature lower than -20°C or higher than 50°C, abnormal
temperature may cause malfunctions of the touchscreen. Please use the phone in an ideal
temperature (0°C to 35°C) condition and try again.
If the phone is used in a strong magnetic field (with microwave, induction cooker, power
station, etc. nearby), the magnetic field may cause malfunctions of the touchscreen.
Please avoid using the phone in such places.

Why does the screen jitter, flicker, or produce a colour cast when I wipe, swipe, or tear the protective
film off the screen?
Cause:
1. When you quickly wipe or swipe the screen, static electricity is generated, which affects the
deflection of the liquid crystal molecules in the screen and causes the screen to jitter, flicker, or
produce ripples or colour casts.
2. When you quickly swipe the screen while using a non-standard protective film, the film is
likely to generate static electricity due to dryness or low-quality material and cause the screen to
jitter, flicker, or produce ripples or colour casts.
Solution:
When wiping the screen or removing the protective film, you are recommended to turn off the
screen, and use a soft cloth.
Vertical colour stripes appear on the phone screen
Cause:
Profile GPU rendering is enabled.
Solution:
1. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

EMUI 5.X: Go to Settings > About phone. Touch Build number seven consecutive times
(enter the lock screen password if required) until the "You are now a developer!"
message is displayed. Then return to the Settings screen and go to Developer options >
Profile GPU rendering > On screen as bars > Close.
EMUI 8.X or later: Go to Settings > System > About phone. Touch Build number seven
consecutive times (enter the lock screen password if required) until the "You are now a
developer!" message is displayed. Then return to the System screen and go to Developer
options > Profile GPU rendering > On screen as bars > Close.
Magic UI 2.0.1: Go to Settings > System > About phone. Touch Build number seven
consecutive times (enter the lock screen password if required) until the "You are now a
developer!" message is displayed. Then return to the System screen and go to Developer
options > Profile GPU rendering > On screen as bars > Close.
2. If the issue persists, go to:
EMUI 5.X: Settings > Apps
EMUI 8.X: Settings > Apps & notifications > Apps
EMUI 9.X: Settings > Apps > Apps
Magic UI 2.0.1: Settings > Apps > Apps
Select Settings from the app list, then go to Storage > Clear data.
3. If the issue remains unresolved, back up your data, and go to the following path to restore
your phone settings.
EMUI 5.X: Settings > Advanced settings > Backup & reset > Reset all settings
EMUI 8.0 or later: Settings > System > Reset > Reset all settings
Magic UI 2.0.1: Settings > System > Reset > Reset all settings
Note: Do not revise other Developer options. It is recommended that you disable Developer
options after the issue is resolved.
