board includes the CPU control module, intra-board Crossbar and multiple packet
processor, for intra-board L2 and L3 distributed forwarding, traffic classification, ACL, QoS
and across-board switching between switch engine Crossbars. This distributed service
processing and switching structure improves the expandability of system switching
capacity and service on the one hand, and on the other it prevents the services from being
centralized or depending on some board greatly, eliminates the service processing,
isolates the network faults effectively and improves the reliability of system greatly.
It is based on the high-performance ASIC chip design and uses the maximum match and
packet-by-packet forwarding mode. On the basis of ensuring the line-speed performance
and low cost, it can defend the attack of red code and blaster worm from network. It is
pretty suitable for a large-scale multiservice network with complex traffic access and the
MAN development of Ethernet.
High Performance and Series Features
Salience III route switching engine is designed on the basis of 10 G platform. It supports
XGbus high speed bus and provides a maximum switching capacity of 768 Gbps. It
includes three models: Salience III Edge, Salience III and Salience III plus.
Salience III-Edge is a high cost performance switching engine. Although it cannot support
the XGbus service board, the 96 G bidirectional switching capacity can meet most
requirements of high performance and low commercial application.
As the major engine, Salience III is compatible with all GE bus uplink service boards. It is
configured with the XGbus uplink service board used in V200, applicable to most
occasions.
Salience III-Plus has the best cost performance and the excellent XGbus feature. It is for
high-performance distributed application. The system using the engine should mainly use
the XGbus uplink service boards. Otherwise, the actual switching performance may be
lower than the former two ones.
Salience III series switch engines provide multiple selections for the customer, which meet
different network construction requirements flexibly.
