I. Overview
Many power systems, railway systems, large-scale petrochemical plants and enterprises
have a lot of electrical equipment whose internal insulation are mostly oil-filled insulation
type, and therefore, test on insulating oil dielectric strength is common and necessary. To
meet the needs of the market, we have developed and produced a series of insulating oil
dielectric strength testers according to national standard GB/T507-2002, industry
standard DL429.9-91 and the latest Electric Power Industry Standard DL/T846.7-2004 by
ourselves. This instrument, by using a single-chip microcomputer as the core, can operate
in full automation with high accuracy, greatly improving work efficiency and reducing the
labor intensity of workers.
II. Key Function and Feature
1. With a microprocessor, three cups of a body, automatically fulfill the withstand voltage
test for oil circulation with a range of 0～80KV (including boosting, maintaining, mixing,
standing, calculation, printing and other operations)
2. Display by large-screen LCD and prompt by English menu.
3. The instru me nt has the advantages of simple ope rati on , the operato rs
only need a simple set up , instrume nt will auto ma tically se t in accordance
with 1-3 oil sample pressure test. Each oil sample, each brea kd ow n
voltage value and the numb er of cycle s wil l be automatically sto red,af ter
com pl etion of the test, the thermal printe r can pri nt out th e breakdown
voltage val ue and average valu e.
4.Maintain power down, can store 100 experimental results, and can display the
current environment temperature and humidity.
5.Using single chip microcomputer control speed boost, voltage frequency
accuracy to 50HZ, makes the whole process easy to control.
6. Equipped with over-voltage, over-current and limit protections to ensure the safety of
operators
7. With the function of displaying the measured temperature and system clock.

8. Communicate with computer with a standard RS232 interface.

V. Operational Approach
1 Pre pa ration bef or e Test
①Connect the earth terminal (on the right side of the equipment) to the earth wire firmly
before start the equipment.
②Sample the oil according to relevant standard. Adjust the electrode distance inside
the oil cup with standard gauge. Clean the cup according to relevant requirements. Pour
the sample into the cup and close the cap.
③Switch on AC220V power supply after the above items are confirmed, ready for the
test.

VI. Precautions
1. Th e selection, placing and electro de dist ance of the oil sample before
testing shall meet relevant national and ind ustrial standards.
2. The ope rators or other personnel ar e strictly for bidden to touch th e
cas ing after the power is swit ched on to avo id ac cidents.
3. The pow er shall be cut off immedia tely if any abnor ma l event is found
during the ope ration .
4. New or newl y cleaned oil cu p should be breakdow n 24 times before
tested , oil cup with clean oil invasion of bubbles when witho ut test ed.

VII. Maintenance
1. This equipment shall not be exposed in moi st env ir onment.
2. Kee p the oil cup and the ele ct rodes clean. Fill the cup with fresh
transformer oil for prot ec tion dur ing its idle. Ch ec k the ele ct rode
distance and check the tightness bet ween the electrod e tip and electrod e
bar screw thr ea d befor e the cu p is use d again.
3. Instrum en t oil cup box high vol tage elec trom agneti c switches are
oil-filled insulation, there should be regular ob se rvation oil
surface,through transparent switch sh ell, as oil surface at distances from
the top of mor e tha n 10MM, should unscrew the plugs su pp leme nted in
line with the GB 25 36 25th of transformer oil.
VIII. Oil Cup Cleaning Method and Common Fault
Clearances
1. Oil Cup Cle an in g Method
⑴Wipe the electrod e surfaces and bars again and again with clea n silk
cloth.
⑵Adjust the electro de distance with standard gauge.
⑶Use petro le um eth er (other or ga ni c solve nt s are fo rbidden) to clean
three times. Each time shall fol lo w the bellow procedure s:
Pour the petro leum eth er into the oil cup till the cup is 1/4 ～1/3 full.
Cover the cup mouth with a pie ce of glass cle an ed by petroleum eth er.
Shake the cup eve nly for one minute wit h certain force.
Pour away the petrole um ether and dry the cup with a blower fo r 2~3
minutes.
⑷Use the oil sa mple to be tested to clean the cup for 1~3 times.
Pour the petro leum eth er into the oil cup till the cup is 1/4 ～1/3 full.

Cover the cup mouth with a piece of glass cleaned by petr oleum ether.
Shake the cup eve nly for one minute wit h certain force.
Pour aw ay the le ft oil sa mple and then the test sta rts.
2. Agitatin g Blade Cleaning Method.
⑴Wipe the agit ating blade again and again with clean sil k cloth until fine
particles are not found on their surface s. It is for bidden to touch th e
surfaces with hand s.
⑵Use fo rc ep s to clamp the bla de ; put them into petr oleum ether and
wash.
⑶Use force ps to clamp the bla de and dry them wi th a blo wer.
⑷Use for ce ps to clamp the blade; put the m into the oil sample to be tested
and wash.
3. Oil Cup Sto rage
Method 1 Fi ll the cu p with goo d insulating oil after the test is finished and
place it sta bl e.
Method 2 Clea n and dry th e cup und er the above pro ce du res and the n put it
into a vacuum dryer.

procedures aft er the first test and te st s with poo r oil.
