gives you complete instructions for
using your fan. Here are some the

As you unpack the fan, save the
carton and packing materials in case
you want to move or ship the unit in

Carefully remove all items from the
box.
NOTE: It is best to have someone
hold the box while you lift the fan and
the protective packaging out of the
carton.
Make sure all shipping materials are
removed from fan before operating.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance is for household use
only and may be plugged into any
230-volt AC electrical outlet (ordinary
household current). DO NOT
use any other type of outlet.

LINE CORD SAFETY TIPS
1. NEVER pull or yank on the cord
or the appliance.
2. To insert plug, grasp it rmly and
guide it into the outlet.
3. To disconnect the appliance,
grasp the plug and remove it
from the outlet.
4. Before each use, inspect the line
cord for cuts and/or abrasion
marks. If any are found, the
appliance should be serviced
and the line cord replaced.

Department or to an authorized
service representative.
5. NEVER wrap the cord tightly
around the appliance, as this
could place undue stress on
the cord where it enters the
appliance and could cause it to
fray and break.
6. DO NOT operate appliance if the
line cord shows any damage, if
the appliance works intermittently
or stops working entirely.

OPERATION
1. Place the fan on a dry, safe, at
surface where it cannot fall or be
pulled by the cord.
2. Plug the fan into a 230-volt
AC electrical outlet (ordinary
household current). DO NOT use
any other type of outlet. Make
sure that the rated voltage of the
fan is the same as the power
source before plugging it into the
power source.
3. Turn the fan "ON" by turning the
Power/Speed Control Switch
to "I" (High), "II" (Medium), "III"
(Low). Turn the fan "OFF" by
turning the Power/Speed Control
Switch to "O". See Figure 3. The
Power/Speed Control Switch
should always be OFF before
unplugging the fan.
4. To control the upward and
downward direction of airow,
loosen the Up/Down Adjustment
Screw screw on the side of the
fan housing neck. See Figure 3.
Adjust to the desired angle and
tighten the screw.

5. To make the fan oscillate, push
the Oscillation Knob down. See
Figure 3. To stop oscillating, pull
the Oscillation Knob up. This
appliance is for household use
only.

MAINTENANCE
This fan is permanently lubricated and
will not require additional lubrication
(oil) for the life of the fan. This fan
requires little maintenance and
contains no user serviceable parts.
DO NOT try to x it yourself. Contact
qualied service personnel if servicing
is needed.
TO CLEAN:
1. Before cleaning, turn fan off and
unplug from electrical outlet.
Wipe off excess dust with a
lintfree cloth.
2. To ensure adequate air
circulation to the motor, keep
vents located at the rear of the
motor housing free from dust
accumulation. A vacuum cleaner
hose can be used to clean these
vents.
3. DO NOT immerse the fan in
water or any other liquid.
CLEANING GRILL AND BLADE:
1. Turn the fan off and unplug from
the electrical outlet.
2. Remove the Front Grill by
carefully removing the Ring
Screw at the bottom of the Ring.
See Figure 4.
3. Remove the Lower Decorative
Piece. See Figure 4.
4. Remove the Ring. See Figure 4.
5. Insert a at-head screwdriver
between the grill wires at the top
of the grill, between the Upper
Grill Tabs. See Figure 4. Pry the
Front Grill away from the Back
Grill.
6. Grills and blades may be cleaned
with mild soap and water.
7. Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to
wipe the remaining fan parts.
8. DO NOT allow water or any
other liquid to get into the motor
housing or base.
9. After the Blades and Grills have
completely dried, reposition
the Front Grill to the Back Grill
while ensuring the Hunter logo is
straight.
10. Place the Lower Grill Tab into
position at the bottom of the Back
Grill and over the Back Grill wire.
Then snap the Upper Grill Tabs
into position under the Back Grill
wire.
11. Replace the Ring while ensuring
the Ring Screw is at the bottom
of the Grill. Then, tighten the
Ring Screw 10 - 20 turns.
12. Replace the Lower Decorative
Piece while ensuring it is
centered on the Front Grill. Then,
tighten the Ring Screw.
13. DO NOT plug fan into an
electrical outlet until it has been
fully reassembled.

STORAGE TROUBLESHOOTING
1. Disassemble and clean fan
before storing.
2. Keep the original packaging for
the purpose of storing the fan.
3. ALWAYS store the fan in a dry
place.
4. NEVER store the fan while it is
still plugged in.
5. NEVER wrap the cord tightly
around the fan.
6. DO NOT put any stress on the
cord where it enters the fan, as it
could cause the cord to break.
PROBLEM
• Fan will not oscillate.
SOLUTION
• Push down on knob on top of motor
housing to activate oscillation.
PROBLEM
• Can not adjust the angle of the fan.
SOLUTION
• Loosen the screw on the side of
the fan neck. Adjust to the desired
angle and tighten the screw.

10 YEAR LIMITED GUARANTEE
Express Manufacturer's Guarantee (the "Guarantee")
This Hunter Metropolitan Portable Fan ("Metropolitan Fan") is guaranteed by The
Hunter Fan Company of 2500 Frisco Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38114 United
States of America (tel 01 901 743 1360) ("Hunter") for the benet of the original user
or consumer purchaser ("You") for a period of ve years after the original date of
purchase, against defects in material or workmanship ("Defect"). If such a Defect
occurs, Hunter will repair or replace the Defective part free of charge, or refund the
purchase price at Your discretion. Labour to repair the Defective Part will, likewise, be
provided free of charge.
This Guarantee relates solely to Defects to the Metropolitan Fan.
What does the Guarantee not cover?
This Guarantee does not extend to the nish on any metal portion of the Metropolitan
Fan.
The Guarantee does not cover any damage caused to any property by a defective
Metropolitan Fan, except, in the case of non-business purchases, for loss or damage
caused by a defective Metropolitan Fan resulting from the negligence of Hunter.
This Guarantee will not apply if:
(a) the Metropolitan Fan is not purchased in European Union; or
(b) any fault, defect, loss, damage, injury or claim results from the improper or
incorrect use of the Metropolitan Fan, improper repairs of the Metropolitan Fan by
non authorised persons, the direct or indirect acts of a third party, or any other reason
whatsoever with the exception of a Defect in your Metropolitan Fan.
The Guarantee will no longer be effective if You cease to own the Metropolitan Fan.
How do You claim under this Guarantee?
If You wish to claim under this Guarantee please return the Metropolitan Fan to the
retailer from where you initially purchased the Metropolitan Fan. Your Metropolitan Fan
should be properly packed to avoid damage in transit and we will not be responsible for
any such damage that occurs if you fail to do this. You must provide your sales receipt
or other document establishing proof of purchase when claiming under the Guarantee.
Statutory Rights
In the case of non-business use purchases, this Guarantee is in addition to, and in no
way affects, Your statutory rights relating to faulty or misdescribed goods or services.
Business Use
If you have bought this Metropolitan Fan acting in the course of your business, trade
or profession, then this Guarantee is in place of and to the extent permitted by law
replaces and excludes all other warranties and conditions whether express or implied
by common law, statutory or otherwise.
