GENERAL WARNINGS
Safety warnings
•During device installation, always strictly
observe all instructions in this manual. If in
any doubt regarding installation, do not pro-
ceed and contact the Hunter Douglas Technical
Assistance for clarifications.
•CAUTION!–Importantinstructions:keepthese
instructions in a safe place to enable future
product maintenance and disposal procedures.
•CAUTION!–Allinstallation,connection,pro-
gramming and maintenance operations must be
performedexclusivelybyaqualifiedtechnician!
•CAUTION!–The product is not to be considered
a safety device that eliminates faults on the
awning caused by strong winds (in fact a simple
power failure would make automatic retraction
of the awning impossible). The product should
be considered part of an automation used to
safeguard the awning and to facilitate use.
•HunterDouglasdeclinesallliabilityformaterialdam-
agecausedbyatmosphericagentsnotdetectedby
thedevicesensors.
•Donotopenthedeviceprotectionhousingasitcon-
tainselectricalcircuitsthatdonotrequiremainte-
nance.
•Neverapplymodificationstoanypartofthedevice.
Operationsotherthanasspecifiedcanonlycause
malfunctions.Themanufacturerdeclinesallliability
fordamagecausedbymakeshiftmodificationsto
theproduct.
•Neverplacedevicesneartosourcesofheatandnev-
erexposetonakedflames.Thismaydamagetheunit
andcausemalfunctions.
Other warnings
•Thedeviceispoweredbyaphotovoltaiccellwhich
mustbeexposedtosunlight.Thereforeensurethat
thesurfaceofthiscelliskeptcleanandfreeofleaves,
snoworotherelements:cleanthesurfacewithasoft
dampcloth,avoidingtheuseofsubstancescontain-
ingalcohol,benzene,solventsorsimilar.
•Theproductpackagingmaterialmustbedisposedof
infullobservanceofcurrentlocallegislationgovern-
ingwastedisposal.
1 – PRODUCTDESCRIPTIONANDINTENDED
USE
Theclimaticsensorsareequippedwithabuilt-inradio
transmitterencodingandindependentsolarpower
suppliedbyabuilt-inphotovoltaiccell;duringthenight
thesensorusestheresidualpoweraccumulateddur-
ingtheday,thuseliminatingtheneedforconnectionto
themainspowersupply.
Theproductisdesignedforsystemsusedtoautomate
sunawnings,shutters,skylightsandsimilar,which
implementHunterDouglastubularmotors.Any other
use is to be considered improper and is strictly
prohibited!Themanufacturerdeclinesallliabil-
ity for damage resulting from improper use of
the product and other than as specified in this
manual.
2– UNITOPERATION
Operationisbasedonthedetectionofvariationsin
windspeedorvariationsintheintensityofsunlight.
Whenthereadingvalueexceedsthe trip threshold
(modifiableparameter),thesensortransmitsa“radio
signal”totheautomation.This,inturn,activatesthe
setmanoeuvreaccordingtothetypeofsignalreceived.
•“Sun” sensor (fig. 8)
Whentheintensityofsunlight,measuredbythesensor
(b - fig. 6)exceedsthethreshold,after2minutesthe
sensortransmitstheDescentcommandtotheauto-
mation.
Otherwise,whenthesunlightintensityfallsbelowthe
thresholdvalue,after15minutesthesensor transmits
theretractioncommandtotheautomation.
•“Wind” sensor (fig. 7)
Whenthewindspeed,measuredbythesensor(a -
fig. 6),exceedsthethreshold,thesensorimmediately
transmitstheUpcommandtotheautomationand
blocksexecutionofanyothercommandsenttothe
automation,toprotecttheawningfromthewind.
Whenthewindspeedfallsbelowthethresholdvalue,
after4minutesthesensorunblockstheawningprotec-
tiontoenableotherautomationcommands.Afterthe
systemisunblocked,ifthesunthresholdisexceeded,
after15minutesthesensorsendsthecommandfor
awningdescent.
Note - During normal operation of the product, the led
remains permanently off, even when the sensor sends
commands.
3 – PRELIMINARYINSTALLATIONCHECKS
ANDPRODUCTAPPLICATIONLIMITS
•Readthetechnicalspecificationsprovidedinthe
chapter“Product technical specifications”tocheck
theapplicationlimitsofthesensor.
•(fig. 1)Ensurethattheselectedinstallationsitefor
thesensoriswithintherangewithrespecttothe
automationtobecontrolled.Althoughtherangein
favourableconditions(openfield)canreach100m,
asthesensorrepresentsaprotectionfortheawn-
ing,amaximumrangeof10-20misrecommended.
Itisalsorecommendedtocheckthatthereareno
otherradiodevicesinthezoneoperatingatthesame
frequency,suchasalarms,radioheadphonesetc.:
thesemayreducetherangefurtherorevenblock
communicationbetweenthesensorandtheautoma-
tion.
•Ensurethattheselectedinstallationsiteforthesen-
sormeetsthefollowingrequirements:
– (fig. 2)mustenabledirectsunexposureofthesun
sensorsurface,atleastatthetimeofdayinwhichthe
sunprotectionoftheautomationmustbeefficient;
neverinstalltheproductinshadedareascausedby
awnings,trees,balconiesetc.;
– (fig. 3)theareamustensureexposureofthewind
sensorbladestothesameventilationasthatapplied
onthesunawningtobeautomated.
•(fig. 4)Selectthetypeofconfigurationforthethe
sensorstructureaccordingtotheangleofthesur-
faceselectedforinstallation.Caution! – the wind
