Installation and user’s guide
This section contains the product description, handling precautions,
installation requirements, installation instructions, and removal
instructions.
Product description
The 4 GB Microdrive with PC Card is a CF+ Type II device that is
supported by Microsoft
®
Windows
®
2000 Professional, Windows XP
Pro, or Windows XP Home. You can insert the Microdrive storage card
into a CF+Type II slot or a PCMCIA Type II adapter that has an ejection
mechanism.
The following items are included in the option package:
v 4 GB Microdrive storage card
v PC Card adapter
v 4 GB Microdrive User’s Guide
Handling precautions
Use the following precautions when handling the Microdrive storage
card:
v Transport the Microdrive storage card only in the plastic case that
comes with the option package.
v Do not drop the Microdrive storage card.
v Do not get the Microdrive storage card wet.
v Do not place the Microdrive storage card near a strong magnetic
field.
v Do not expose the Microdrive storage card to extreme temperatures.
v Do not insert the Microdrive storage card into a CF+ Type II slot that
does not have an ejection mechanism.

v Do not squeeze the external covers of the Microdrive storage card.
v Do not apply additional labels to the Microdrive storage card.
v Do not remove the Microdrive storage card label.
v Only write on the small area of white space on the 4GB Microdrive
storage card label that is designated as a writable area. Do not write
on any other part of the Microdrive storage card label.
v Use care whenever you remove the Microdrive storage card from the
computer; the Microdrive storage card might be warm after
operation.
Installation requirements
Before you install the Microdrive storage card, be sure that your
computer meets the following requirements:
v Windows 2000, Windows XP Pro, or Windows XP Home
v CF+ Type II slot or PCMCIA Type II adapter
Installation instructions
To install the Microdrive storage card, do the following:
1. Turn on your computer and start the operating system.

2. Align the arrow mark on the Microdrive storage card with the
arrow mark on the PC Card adapter.
3. Insert the Microdrive storage card carefully and firmly into the PC
Card adapter.
4. Insert the PC Card adapter into a PCMCIA slot, following the PC
Card adapter instructions that come with the computer. Be sure to
grasp the PC Card adapter instead of the Microdrive storage card
when you insert or remove the PC Card adapter from the computer.
Windows will automatically detect and install the Microdrive
storage card. If Windows does not detect the Microdrive storage
card, repeat steps 1-4.

Removal instructions
To safely remove the Microdrive storage card, follow these steps:
1. From your task bar, select Safely Remove Hardware.
2. Select Safely Remove Microdrive.
3. Wait for the message It is now safe to remove the Microdrive to
appear
4. Once this message appears, you can safely remove the Microdrive
storage card from your machine.

Précautions pour la manipulation
Lorsque vous manipulez la carte de stockage Microdrive, tenez compte

uniquement le boîtier en plastique fourni avec l’option.
v Ne faites pas tomber la carte Microdrive.
v Gardez la carte Microdrive à l’abri de l’humidité.
v Ne placez pas la carte Microdrive près d’un champ magnétique
puissant.
v N’exposez pas la carte Microdrive à des températures extrêmes.

v N’insérez pas la carte Microdrive dans un emplacement CF+ Type II
ne comportant pas de dispositif d’éjection.
v N’exercez pas de pression sur l’enveloppe de la carte Microdrive.
v N’apposez pas d’étiquettes sur la carte Microdrive.
v Ne retirez pas l’étiquette de la carte Microdrive.
v N’écrivez que sur la partie blanche de l’étiquette de la carte
Microdrive 4 Go spécialement réservée à cet effet. Vous ne devez
écrire sur aucune autre partie de l’étiquette de la carte.
v Faites attention lorsque vous retirez la carte Microdrive de
l’ordinateur ; après utilisation, elle peut avoir une température
élevée.
Configuration requise
Avant d’installer la carte de stockage Microdrive, assurez-vous que
votre ordinateur possède la configuration suivante :
v Windows 2000, Windows XP Pro ou Windows XP Home
v Emplacement CF+ Type II ou carte PCMCIA Type II
Instructions d’installation
Pour installer la carte de stockage Microdrive, procédez comme suit :
1. Mettez l’ordinateur sous tension et démarrez le système
d’exploitation.

2. Alignez la flèche située sur la carte Microdrive sur la flèche de la
carte PC Card.
3. Insérez avec soin la carte Microdrive dans la carte PC Card.
4. Insérez la carte PC Card dans l’emplacement PCMCIA, en suivant
les instructions concernant cette carte fournies avec l’ordinateur.
Lors de l’insertion ou du retrait de la carte PC Card de l’ordinateur,
saisissez la carte PC Card et non la carte Microdrive.
Windows détecte automatiquement la carte de stockage Microdrive
et procède à son installation. Si Windows ne détecte pas la carte
Microdrive, recommencez les étapes 1 à 4.

Instructions de retrait
Pour retirer la carte de stockage Microdrive en toute sécurité, procédez
comme suit :
1. A partir de la barre des tâches, sélectionnez Safely Remove
Hardware.
2. Sélectionnez Safely Remove Microdrive.
3. Attendez l’affichage du message It is now safe to remove the
Microdrive, qui indique que vous pouvez retirer la carte en toute
sécurité.
4. Vous pouvez maintenant retirer la carte Microdrive de l’ordinateur.

Precauzioni per l’uso
Seguire le norme di precauzione riportate di seguito quando si utilizza
la scheda Microdrive:
v Durante il trasporto, non estrarre Microdrive dalla custodia in
plastica fornita con il pacchetto di opzione.
v Non lasciare cadere la scheda Microdrive.
v Non bagnare la scheda Microdrive.
v Non posizionare la scheda Microdrive vicino a un forte campo
magnetico.
v Non esporre la scheda Microdrive a temperature troppo elevate.
v Non inserire la scheda Microdrive in un alloggiamento CF+ II senza
meccanismo a espulsione.
v Non danneggiare la copertura esterna della scheda Microdrive.

v Non applicare ulteriori etichette sulla scheda Microdrive.
v Non rimuovere l’etichetta della scheda Microdrive.
v Scrivere solo nell’area bianca riservata all’etichetta della scheda
Microdrive da 4 GB, indicata come area di scrittura. Non scrivere su
nessun’altra parte dell’etichetta.
v Estrarre Microdrive dal computer con molta attenzione; la scheda
Microdrive potrebbe essere calda dopo l’utilizzo.
Requisiti di installazione
Prima di installare Microdrive, accertarsi che il computer soddisfi i
seguenti requisiti:
v Windows 2000, Windows XP Pro o Windows XP Home
v Alloggiamento CF+ II o adattatore II PCMCIA
Istruzioni per l’installazione
Per installare Microdrive, effettuare le seguenti operazioni:
1. Avviare il computer e il sistema operativo.

2. Allineare la freccia della scheda Microdrive con la freccia
sull’adattatore della scheda PC.
3. Inserire con cautela Microdrive nella scheda di rete PC.
4. Inserire l’adattatore di scheda PC nell’alloggiamento PCMCIA,
seguendo le istruzioni dell’adattatore di scheda fornite con il
computer. Fare attenzione ad afferrare l’adattatore di scheda PC e
non Microdrive quando si inserisce o si rimuove l’adattatore di
scheda PC dal computer.
Windows rileverà ed installerà automaticamente Microdrive. Se
Windows non rileva Microdrive, ripetere i passi 1-4.
Istruzioni per la rimozione
Per rimuovere la scheda Microdrive, attenersi alla seguente procedura:

1. Dalla barra delle applicazioni, selezionare l’opzione di rimozione
hardware.
2. Selezionare quindi l’opzione di rimozione Microdrive.
3. Attendere la visualizzazione del messaggio che consente di

4. Dopo la visualizzazione di questo messaggio è possibile rimuovere
la scheda Microdrive dalla macchina.

Beim 4 GB Microdrive mit PC-Karte handelt es sich um eine CF+-Ein-
heit vom Typ II, die von Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Win-
dows
XP Pro und Windows XP Home unterstützt wird. Sie können die
Microdrive-Speicherkarte in einen CF+-Steckplatz vom Typ II oder
einen PCMCIA-Adapter vom Typ II mit Auswurfmechanismus ein-
setzen.
Folgendes ist in diesem Zusatzpaket enthalten:
v 4 GB Microdrive-Speicherkarte
v PC-Karten-Adapter
v 4 GB Microdrive-Benutzerhandbuch
Vorsichtsmaßnahmen im Umgang mit dem Mic-
rodrive
Beachten Sie beim Umgang mit der Microdrive-Speicherkarte folgende
Vorsichtsmaßnahmen:
v Lassen Sie die Microdrive-Speicherkarte beim Transport in der
Plastikhülle, die im Lieferumfang des Zusatzpakets enthalten ist.
v Lassen Sie die Microdrive-Speicherkarte nicht fallen.
v Setzen Sie die Microdrive-Speicherkarte keiner Feuchtigkeit aus.
v Bewahren Sie die Microdrive-Speicherkarte nicht in der Nähe eines
starken Magnetfeldes auf.

v Setzen Sie die Microdrive-Speicherkarte keinen extremen Temperatu-
ren aus.
v Setzen Sie die Microdrive-Speicherkarte nicht in einen CF+-Steckplatz
vom Typ II ohne Auswurfmechanismus ein.
v Üben Sie keinen Druck auf die äußere Verkleidung der Microdrive-
Speicherkarte aus.
v Kleben Sie keine zusätzlichen Etiketten auf die Microdrive-Speicher-
karte.
v Entfernen Sie nicht das Etikett der Microdrive-Speicherkarte.
v Schreiben Sie nur auf den kleinen weißen Bereich auf dem Etikett der
4 GB Microdrive-Speicherkarte, der als Beschriftungsbereich ausge-
wiesen ist. Schreiben Sie in keinen anderen Bereich auf dem Etikett
der Speicherkarte.
v Gehen Sie beim Entnehmen der Microdrive-Speicherkarte aus dem
Computer vorsichtig vor, da die Microdrive-Speicherkarte sich mögli-
cherweise durch den Betrieb erhitzt hat.
Installationsvoraussetzungen
Vor dem Installieren der Microdrive-Speicherkarte müssen Sie sicher-
stellen, dass Ihr Computer die folgenden Voraussetzungen erfüllt:
v Windows 2000, Windows XP Pro oder Windows XP Home
v CF+-Steckplatz vom Typ II oder PCMCIA-Adapter vom Typ II
