Configuring the IBM Flex System Fabric CN4093 10 b Converged Scalable
Switch
Prerequisites:
Make sure that a IBM Flex System Fabric CN4093 10Gb Con erged Scalable Switch is installed in I/O
module bay 1 or 2 of a Flex System Enterprise chassis and that the chassis is configured. Complete the
following quick start guides:
Installing the IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis
Initial setup of chassis I/O modules (switches)
Steps:
Note: This process illustrates how to enable the switch ports through the Chassis Management Module
(CMM) command-line interface. For information about using the CMM interface, you can use the
Configuring IBM Flex System nterprise Chassis components quick start guide. You can find that quick
start guide at this location:

the installed documentation, click Information Center from the IBM Flex System Manager Home page and then na igate to:

1. Log on to the Chassis Management Module (CMM) CLI with an SSH application. The default IP
address is 192.168.70.100 and the default login/password is USERID/PASSW0RD. If necessary, obtain
the IP address and login of the CMM from your system administrator.
2. Set the en ironment to the bay where you installed the switch. For example, if you installed the
switch in I/O module bay 2, enter the following command:
en -T system:switch[2]
3. Run the following command to enable external data ports:
ifconfig -ep enabled
External ports 1-2 and 11-16 are now enabled for data throughput.

Activating additional keys:
If you ha e purchased additional keys, they need to be installed on the switch. Complete the following
steps to install keys using the ISCLI interface:
1. To retrie e the key, na igate a browser to https://www.ibm.com/systems/x/fod/index.wss and sign in
with your ID and Password.
2. Click Request activation key.
3. Enter the authorization code. The authorization code was supplied to you by email or on paper as
part of the ordering process.
4. Click Continue and follow the instructions and download the key file.
5. Log on to the CN4093 switch with an SSH application. The default IP addresses for the switch
through the CMM are as follows: 192.168.70.120 (bay 1), 192.168.70.121 (bay 2), 192.168.70.122
(bay 3), 192.168.70.123 (bay 4). If necessary, obtain the IP address and log in of the switch from
your system administrator.
6. Enter ena.
7. Enter software-key.
8. Enter enakey address <hostname or IP address> keyfile <file name>
protocol tftp mgt-port
Note: you must reset the switch to apply the key.
9. Reset the switch. Enter reload..
Repeat these steps for additional keys, if needed. The sequence of steps is shown here:
