INTRODUCTION
We thank you for choosing a fingerprint acquisition terminal from IDEMIA.
The MorphoTop Slim provides an effective solution for the fingerprint acquisition of 4 fingers
simultaneously, of two thumbs and of rolled fingers.
Among a range of alternative biometric technologies, the use of fingerprints has significant
advantages: each fingerprint constitutes an unalterable physical signature which develops
before birth and preserves until death.
The MorphoTop Slim stands out as a fast, precise, easy-to-use and ideal system for the
fingerprint acquisition applications.
The MorphoTop Slim has the following characteristics:
•High quality TFT sensor (500 PPI IQS Appendix F certified),
•Compact size for easy installation and fast integration,
•Intuitive and easy-to-use Interface,
•Open architecture, with dedicated applications implemented via the Morpho LiveScan
Software Development Kit and MorphoBop SDK.
To ensure the most effective use of your MorphoTop Slim, we recommend that you read this
Installation Guide thoroughly.
RECOMMENDATIONS
General precautions
•Do not put sharp hard object (such as but not limited to screw-driver, pen, USB
connector,..) on the acquisition area. MorphoTop Slim sensor is robust as a TFT screen can
be, so sharp objects could damage the sensor.
•Do not attempt to repair the MorphoTop Slim yourself. The manufacturer cannot be held
responsible for any damage/accident that may result from attempts to repair components. Any
work carried out by unauthorized staff will invalidate your warranty.
•Do not expose the MorphoTop Slim to extreme temperatures.
•Due to electrostatic discharge, and depending on the environment, synthetic carpet should be
avoided in areas where the MorphoTop Slim has been installed.
Cleaning precautions
MorphoTop Slim is designed with anti-Smudge coating, for easier clean purpose. Clean periodically
latent trace with a dry wipe dedicated to optic or TFT screen part; no hard water (acidic/alkaline/ type
of detergent solvent). If necessary use ethyl alcohol.
Warning
The manufacturer cannot be held responsible if the above recommendations are not followed or if the
MorphoTop Slim is incorrectly used.

RH < 90%.
Light We recommend the MorphoTop Slim installation within controlled lighting
conditions (300-1500 Lux). Avoid direct exposure of sensor to sunlight or
intensive UV lights. Both may degrade the performances of the sensor on a
long time period (even when device not powered).

SOFTWARE ENVIRONMENTS
Windows 7, 8.1,10 (32 & 64 bit)
Linux Ubuntu 14.04 & 16.04 (32 & 64 bit)
Nominal PC HW configuration is I5 Core with 4 GB RAM
DRIVER INSTALLATION
Before the first use, please follow the guideline hereunder:
•Launch the driver install
•Once the driver is installed, plug MorphoTop Slim to the computer directly (No USB hub).
•Validate the driver activation.
•You can now launch the MorphoLiveScan SDK (refer to its installation guide for proper usage).
USB REQUIREMENT
It is absolutely mandatory to have a dedicated USB controller for the MorphoTop Slim. It means that no other
USB device should be plugged on the same controller, especially high load devices such as hard disk or
webcam, or another MorphoTOP device
It is highly recommended to plug MorphoTop Slim on a USB3 port. USB2 port could be not enough for full
efficiency of MorphoTop Slim device. You can plug MorphoTop Slim on one USB2 port if it has high power
(0,7 A instead of 500mA for nominal port). Using USB2 port will have lower image frame rate and will limit
the active area for rolled* finger acquisition.
*: Rolled function available on MorphoTop Slim R version only
In order to check if the computer includes enough USB controller, please follow these instructions:
In the Windows device manager, you will be able to check the USB controller list:
Click on the “Start” Button
Choose: “control panel”
Choose “system”
Click on the tab “Device”
Click on “Device Manager”
Check USB controller

10/11
CETE | Global R&D November 2017 | V1
Then, you will be able to count USB controller on your computer. It is highly recommended to have at least 2
controllers:
-1 for MorphoTop Slim
-1 for other devices behind a USB Hub
