switch offers IPv6/IPv4 dual stack management, intelligent Layer 2 management
functions, and a user-friendly interface. The IFS managed series is able to operate
reliably, stably, and quietly in any environment without affecting its performance.
Featuring ultra networking speed and an operating temperature ranging from -40 to
75°C in a compact but rugged IP30 metal housing, this industrial managed switch is an
ideal solution to meeting the demand for the following network applications:
•Building/Home automation network
•Internet of things (IoT)
•IP surveillance
Redundant ring, fast recovery for critical network applications
The industrial managed switch supports redundant ring technology and features strong,
rapid self-recovery capability to prevent interruptions and external intrusions. It
incorporates advanced ITU-T G.8032 ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching)
technology, Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1s MSTP), and redundant power input
system into the customer’s industrial automation network to enhance system reliability
and uptime in harsh factory environments. In a certain simple ring network, the
recovery time of data link can be as fast as 20 ms.
Convenient and smart ONVIF devices with detection feature
The managed switch's ONVIF Support is specifically designed to work with video IP
surveillance programs, such as TruVision Navigator, that can display details about
connected ONVIF devices and permit clients to create floor images/maps using the
managed switch, simplifying the deployment of surveillance and other devices for
planning and inspection purposes. IP surveillance program clients can also obtain real-
time surveillance information and online/offline status. PoE reboot control is also
offered at the GUI level.
Intelligent powered device alive check
The industrial managed switch can be configured to monitor connected PD status in
real time via a ping action. After the PD stops working and responding, the industrial
managed switch resumes the PoE port power and puts the PD back to work. The
industrial managed switch greatly enhances the network reliability through the PoE port
resetting the PD’s power source and reducing the administrator management burden.

Chapter 1: Introduction
8 NS3562-8P-2S-V2 Industrial Managed Switch User Manual
Scheduled power recycling
The IFS PoE managed series allows each of the connected PoE IP cameras or PoE
wireless access points to reboot at a specific time each week. This reduces the chance
of an IP camera or AP crash resulting from buffer overflow.
PoE schedule for energy saving
Under the trend of energy saving worldwide and contributing to environmental
protection, the industrial managed switch can effectively control the power supply in
addition to its capability of provideing high Watt power. The “PoE schedule” function
helps you to enable or disable PoE power feeding for each PoE port during specified
time intervals, and is a powerful function to help SMBs or enterprises save power and
money.

Chapter 1: Introduction
NS3562-8P-2S-V2 Industrial Managed Switch User Manual 9
Innovative wall-mount installation
This switch is specially designed to be installed in a narrow environment, such as wall
enclosure or electric weak box. The compact, flat, and wall-mounted design fits easily
in any space-limited location. It adopts the user-friendly “Front Access” design, making
the installing, cable wiring, LED monitoring, and maintenance of the industrial managed
switch placed in an enclosure convenient for technicians. It can be installed by fixed
wall mounting, magnetic wall mounting, or DIN rail, thereby making its usability more
flexible.
SMTP/SNMP trap event alert
The industrial managed switch provides an event alert function to help to diagnose
problems such as a network connection break or an abnormal rebooting response.

Chapter 1: Introduction
10 NS3562-8P-2S-V2 Industrial Managed Switch User Manual
Layer 3 IPv4 and IPv6 software VLAN routing for secure and flexible management
The industrial managed switch provides ultra high transmission performance and
excellent Layer 2 technologies, as well as an IPv4/IPv6 software VLAN routing feature
that allows the crossover of different VLANs and different IP addresses for the purpose
of having highly secure, flexible management and a simpler networking application.
Robust layer 2 features
The industrial managed switch can be programmed for advanced switch management
functions such as dynamic port link aggregation, Q-in-Q VLAN, private VLAN, Multiple
Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), layer 2 to layer 4 QoS, bandwidth control, and IGMP /
MLD snooping. The industrial managed switch provides 802.1Q Tagged VLAN, and a
maximum of 255 VLAN groups are allowed. Via aggregation of supporting ports, the
industrial managed switch allows the operation of a high-speed trunk combining
multiple ports. It enables maximum up to 2 groups of 2 ports for trunk and also supports
fail-over.
Efficient management
For efficient management, the industrial managed switch is equipped with a console,
web, and SNMP management interfaces. With the built-in web-based management
interface, the managed industrial switch offers an easy-to-use, platform-independent
management and configuration facility. For text-based management mode, the

Chapter 1: Introduction

industrial managed switch can be accessed via Telnet and the console port. Moreover,
the industrial managed switch offers secure remote management via any standard-
based management software by supporting SNMP v3 connections which encrypts the
packet content at each session.
Powerful security
The industrial switches offer comprehensive layer 2 to layer 4 access control list (ACL)
for enforcing security to the edge. It can be used to restrict to network access by
denying packets based on source and destination IP address, TCP/UDP port number,
or defined typical network applications. Its protection mechanism also comprises
802.1X port-based user and device authentication. With the private VLAN function,
communication between edge ports can be prevented to guarantee user privacy.
Flexible and extendable solution
The additional four mini-GBIC slots built into the industrial managed switch support dual
speed, 100BASE-FX, and 1000BASE-SX/LX SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) fiber-
optic modules, meaning the administrator now can flexibly choose the suitable SFP
transceiver according to the transmission distance or the transmission speed required.
The distance can be extended from 550 meters (multi-mode fiber) to 10/50/70/120
kilometers (single-mode fiber or WDM fiber). The switch is well suited for applications
within enterprise data centers and distributions.
Intelligent SFP diagnostic mechanism
The industrial managed switch series supports a SFP-DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitor)
function that can easily monitor real-time parameters of the SFP transceivers, such as
optical output power, optical input power, temperature, laser bias current, and
transceiver supply voltage.
