Unpacking
Although your EP-6216 is neither complicated nor difficult to operate, we recommend you take a few minutes to
read this brief manual and familiarize yourself with the important information regarding product features, setup
and operation.
As with most electronic devices, we strongly recommend you retain the original packaging. In the unlikely event
the product must be returned for servicing, the original packaging (or reasonable equivalent) is required.

Environment
Never place this product in an environment which could alter its performance or reduce its service life. Such
environments usually include high levels of heat, dust, moisture, and vibration.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. Read these instructions.

5. Do not use this apparatus near water.
6. Clean only with dry cloth.
7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including
amplifiers) that produce heat.
9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades
with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide
blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult
an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and
the point where they exit from the apparatus.
11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
12. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus.
When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the
apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is
damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the
apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has
been dropped.

Connect to a fire sensor for a fully functional fire alarm.

Alarm will sound automatically on alternate floors.

Automatic announcements during fire alarm operation.

Use the test function for system tests or to conduct emergency drills.

Front Panel
1. FIRE INDICATOR
This panel blinks red when fire has been detected.
2. OUTPUT INDICATOR LED
Audio signal level indication.
3. MICROPHONE AND BUILT-IN SPEAKER
The unit contains a built-in uni-directional dynamic microphone, and a built-in speaker for convenient local
monitoring.
4. TEST SWITCH
This switch is used to check system. When the switch is pressed, the relevant LED lights.
5. STANDBY INDICATOR LED
This LED will light to indicate that power has been applied to the unit, and the unit is in Standby mode.
6. MIC VOLUME
This knob controls the mic output volume. Rotating in a clockwise direction increases volume.

1. MATRIX CONNECTOR
This multi-pin EMG jack is for the connection of an external timer, such as the Inter-M ECS-6216P.
2. REMOTE MIC TERMINAL
Connect an external microphone to this terminal. The external mic is active when the Remote Mic Switch (3)
is set to External.
3. REMOTE MIC SWITCH
Connect the Remote Mic switch to this terminal.
4. DC 24V OUT TERMINAL
Automatically output when automatic announcement.
5. AUTO ANN SELECTOR SWITCH
This switch is used to set the auto announcement mode to either external or internal.
6. SIREN VOLUME
This knob controls siren level.
7. PRE-AMP INPUT JACK
This jack is used to connect the output of a pre-amplifier.
8. REMOTE 1, 2 INPUT JACKS
These jacks are used to connect the output of a pre-amplifier to REMOTE 1 and REMOTE 2.

9. TIMER INPUT JACK
This jack is for the connection of an external timer, such as the Inter-M PW-6242A.
10. AUTO ANN INPUT JACK
Connect the output of an auto broadcasting system (or a cassette deck or other line level device) to this
balanced XLR input jack. This input is active when the AUTO ANN SELECTOR SWITCH (5) is set to external.
11. PRE OUT JACK
This balanced XLR jack carries the pre-amp out signal, and is used to make a mono connection to the main
amplifier and speakers.

Suggestions for Rack InstallationSuggestions for Rack Installation
1. Switch off power to the EP-6216 before installing the system.
2. Connect the Inter-M ECS-6216P to the MATRIX CONNECTOR (1) on the rear panel.
3. Connect the PRE OUT jack (11) to the input of your main amplifier.
4. Connect audio output of your auto broadcasting system to the AUTO ANN input jack (10), and the DC 24V
In jack of your auto broadcasting system to the DC 24V OUT jack (4) of the EP-6216.
5. Connect the output jack of the Inter-M PW-6242A to the TIMER jack (9).
6. Connect the output of your remote pre-amp to the REMOTE INPUT jack (8) and the pre-amp of the main
broadcasting system to the PRE-AMP INPUT jack (7).
7. If using a remote mic, connect the microphone and switch to the rear panel REMOTE MIC TERMINAL (2) and
REMOTE MIC SWITCH (3).
Operating ProcedureOperating Procedure
Switch off the EP-6216 Power Switch.
Select either External mode or Internal mode (3) before installing the system.
Using the TEST SWITCH, an alarm is broadcast through the built-in speaker.
Test the microphone, setting the MIC VOLUME on front (6) as desired.
NOTE: The Pre-Amp Input, Remote 1 and 2 Input, Timer Input, and Auto-Ann Input are sent to the PRE OUT in
the following priority.

1. The board of VF-01N is for the automatic broadcasting in case of emergency.
2. DIP switcher that can set up the number of the repeat output is included in VF-01N board.
- Regard of the number of repeat voice output, please select the switcher as below.
- Basically, the release of the product is configured the 4 times of this.
3. Voice compose board of VF-01N is possible to control the level of output.
During installation, please control the level of output by VR-101 of VF-01N.
