1. Introduction
1.1 About this manual
This manual is for our EyeSeeCam vHIT goggle system. The contents of the manual cover device related data,
such as disassembly and hardware setup. Technical specifications and the list with spare parts are found as
appendices in the back of this manual.
1.2 About warnings and cautions
The below warnings, cautions and notices are applied throughout the manual, indicating the level of attention
required for a given action:
The WARNING label identifies conditions or practices
that may present danger to the patient and/or user.
The CAUTION label identifies conditions or practices
that could result in damage to the equipment.
NOTICE NOTICE is used to address practices not related to
personal injury.

manual are subject to change without further notice.
The performance and specifications of our products can only be guaranteed if technical maintenance is
conducted routinely every year. Technical maintenance should be carried out by qualified personnel authorized

2. Maintenance and replacing parts
2.1 Maintenance
If the surface of the goggle is contaminated, it is cleaned with a soft cloth moistened with a mild solution of water
and dish washing liquid or similar. The use of organic solvents and aromatic oils must be avoided.
Always disconnect the USB cable during the cleaning process and keep any fluid from entering the inside of the
instrument or the accessories.
Before cleaning always switch off and disconnect from power.
Use a soft cloth lightly dampened with cleaning solution to clean all exposed surfaces.
Do not allow liquid to enter the camera housing.
Do not autoclave, sterilize or immerse the instrument or accessory in any fluid.
Do not use hard or pointed objects to clean any part of the instrument or accessory.
RECOMMENDED
CLEANING AND
DISINFECTION SOLUTION
Warm water with mild, nonabrasive cleaning solution (soap).
SERVICE &
MAINTENANCE The vHIT system must be serviced at least once a year.
PROCEDURE Clean the instrument by wiping the outer case with a lint free cloth
lightly dampened in cleaning solution.
SPECIFIC PARTS Goggle: the hot mirrors and the silicone tubes should be cleaned
regularly.
Lens: should be cleaned on demand. For this, use appropriate tissue
to avoid scratches or damage.

power supply before starting this procedure.

2.2 Replacing parts 1
With the purpose of enabling replacement of certain parts of the EyeSeeCam google, this chapter contains a
disassembly guide for EyeSeeCam vHIT.
Disassembly should always be conducted by a technician authorized by Interacoustics.
2.2.1 The silicone tubes
This paragraph describes how the silicone tubes, covering the goggle frame, are replaced .

Slip one end of a silicone tube strip over a tip
on the frame, while pulling. Lay the strip
around the frame's edge, always maintaining
a certain pulling force.
Slip the other end
over the tip.

Press the strip into smooth position without
creases.
Repeat for the other side.

2.2.2 The mirrors
In case one of the hot mirrors is broken, exchange the mirror immediately, as there otherwise is danger that a
user will be hurt.
New mirrors are available as spare parts (see Appendix B - Parts & Accessories).
This is how to exchange a mirror:
Carefully remove the clamp.
Then, remove the broken mirror.

Clip the new mirror into the frame.

2.2.3 The goggle frame
In case the goggle frame is broken, the frame is exchanged.
The plastic frame is available as a spare part (see Appendix B - Parts & Accessories). Purchasing new springs,
hot mirrors, or silicone tubes is not necessary, as these parts can be taken from the broken frame and used on
the new one.
This is how to exchange a spring:
Remove the springs from the
goggle frame.
2.2.4 The headband
The procedure to attach a new head band is described below. For starters, to remove the old headband, first
remove the fastening pin.
Thread the strap through the right
-hand side slot
of the frame and then through the band clip.
Insert the strap in the left slot of the frame.

For
demonstration purposes,
we have removed
the cable from the clip.
In real life,
it is not possible
to separate
the cable from the clip.
2.2.5 The laser clip
In case the small lug on the laser casing is broken or damaged, there are two
ways to fix it.
The easiest is to return the camera to Service and have the laser casing replaced
by a technician.
A quicker solution is to attach an external lug which is included in the retrofit kit
(see Appendix B - Parts & Accessories). Follow the below instruction:

the wire cutter to remove the rest of
the lug as
efficiently as possible.
As you can see, the cut does not
leave the surface even.

2.2.6 The fan filter
This paragraph applies to EyeSeeCam models with integrated fan, only.
During time, the fan filter may clog. It is possible to clean the fan filter or exchange the filter cover. The latter is
available as spare part (see Appendix B - Parts & Accessories).
This is how to exchange the filter case:
Use a Phillips screwdriver (size PH0) to open the case screw for approximately 3mm.
Flip around the filter case.
With the backside upwards, open
the case screws.

Remove the fan cover, by
cautiously sliding the fan cover
aside.
Be careful not to touch the fan’s
blades, while completely
removing the fan
cover.
Mount the new fan cover by
inserting it from the side and then
re-tighten the case screws.
Be careful not to use too much
torque.
Recommended screw tightening
torque is 50mNm.

2.3 Troubleshooting
2.3.1 Connection problems
Connection problems, such as an undetected camera, could be caused by a broken USB cable. If a loose contact
is encountered, the cable must be exchanged. Test out a different cable and check whether the error(s) persist.
We recommend using original cables only.
2.3.2 Laser not working
If the laser is not lighting up, it could be due to damaged cabling or soldering. This could occur when an improper
force has been applied to the wiring. In this case, return the camera (with laser) for repair.
2.3.3 Laser misadjusted
The laser should project a 5-dot cross directly in front of the laser. When held horizontally, the laser should align
with the horizontal cross.
If the cross is misaligned, the underlying reason could be that the hologram plate in the laser casing is also
misaligned. In this case, correct the laser casing alignment, as illustrated below.

The solution to this problem is simply to readjust
the laser grid by moving the knob to a position
where the projected pattern is aligned co
rrectly.
Prepare a cross that is horizontally aligned and
mount the laser in a fixed, horizontal position.
Then
, adjust the knob.

3. Installation of software
3.1 Requirements for hardware and software
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR
USB EyeSeeCam systems
Laptop PC:
One USB 2 port available
Desktop PC:
One USB 2 port available
Furthermore, Microsoft .Net 2.0 Framework and Windows Installer 3.x should be available. If these
programs are not installed on your computer, you will be prompted to install them when running the
EyeSeeCam installation. When prompted, click yes, and an au
tomatic installation is initiated.
Finally, Adobe
® Reader® must be installed from the included installation CD.

3.2 USB
The EyeSeeCam vHIT camera is only to be connected to a USB 2.0 port. In case the computer has USB 3.0
ports only, the USB 3.0 controller must be disabled for the ports to work in USB 2.0 mode.
For detailed instructions, please refer to the EyeSeeCam vHIT Instructions for Use.
3.3 Hardware setup
Connect the USB cable to the computer.
Connect the other end of the USB cable to the EyeSeeCam camera.
Mount the camera on the goggle using the spherical ball-and-socket joint.
Mount the calibration laser on the bridge of the goggle.
Connect the computer power supply to a wall outlet, then connect to computer.

3.4 OtoAccess™ setup
For some of our instruments, the OtoAccess Legacy program must be installed before it’s possible to open the
OtoAccess™ database. This is the case for EyeSeeCam vHIT.

Simply, click EyeSeeCam,
and then hit Install.
It is possible to check more
or all the options and install
them in one go.

End with clicking
Close. OtoAccess™ is
now ready for use.
To use the OtoAccess™
database, click the
OtoAccess™ program icon.

With OtoAccess™ running, click Setup in the upper left corner, and then Module settings.

From Settings, it is possible to pick the relevant software modules for the gallery bar in the OtoAccess main screen.
Per default, all
modules that are compatible with the database are enabled, and are thus checked.
If for some reason, a
software module is not wanted in the gallery bar, it is easily removed by unchecking the box. It
is always possible to add removed
modules by checking Enabled again.

settings.

this disables the bar view.
