1Introduction
1.1 About this manual
This manual detail the installation procedure for the Orion Chair (Auto-transverse / Comprehensive), used
with the VisualEyes™ 515 and VisualEyes™ 525 Software version 3.0 and later. Both Auto-transverse and
Comprehensive will be hereafter denoted by ‘Orion Chair’ if it is not specified.

1.3 Marking
The following marking can be found on the instrument:

1.4 Required tools
The following tools are required to assemble the Orion Chair which will be provided by the dealer.
NOTICE It is important to note that two people are required for this installation process. The installation
process approximately will take 5 to 6 hours to complete.
Step ladder, six foot minimum (supplied with the product)
2 wheel steel hand truck (supplied with product)

1.5 Determine location for booth and chair installation
Ensure that you have a very clear floor plan to install the booth with the chair and other accessories.
Ensure that the room has at least an 8 ft high ceiling and space in front of the booth to lift the round roof into
place.

2Unpacking and inspection
2.1 Inspection of shipment
Check for damage
When the product is received, ensure that you have received all the components on the shipping checklist.
All the components should be checked visually for scratches and missing parts before use. All the contents
of the shipment have to be checked for their mechanical and electrical functioning. If the equipment is found
faulty, please contact your local distributor immediately. Keep the shipping materials for the carrier’s
inspection and insurance claim.
Keep carton for future shipment
The product comes with shipping cartons, which are specifically designed for the components. It is
recommended to keep the cartons for future shipments in case of any need for return or service.
Reporting and returning procedure
Any missing part or malfunction or any damaged components (due to shipment) should be reported
immediately to the supplier/local distributor along with the invoice, serial number and a detailed report of the
issue. For any on-site service-related information, please contact your local distributor. If the system /
components are to be returned for service, please fill all the details related to product issues in the ‘Return
Report’, which is attached to this manual. It is very important that you describe all the known facts about the
issue in the return report, as this will help the engineer to understand and solve the problem to your
satisfaction. Your local distributor holds the responsibility for coordinating any service/return procedure and
related formalities.
Disposition of packaging materials
Incase if you wish to dispose the Crates and pallets and materials used for shipment, those shall be
recycled according to the local requirements and possibilities.
2.2 Unpacking the booth
NOTICE Ensure that the designated room for booth installation has high ceiling (min. of 8 ft / 244 cm) and
space in front of the booth to lift the round roof into place. It is important Room fire suppression systems
(e.g. sprinkler heads) should not be directly over the booth.
Remove top and one end screws of the booth crate using battery powered drill with Phillips to open the
crate.
A booth crate contains
Six (6) curved panels,
Vinyl floor in a roll,
Floor section in 3 pieces,
Roof section in 3 pieces,
Door threshold and shims,
Black strips to cover wall seams.
Assembly materials (like anchors, electrical conduit, tools and etc)
Ensure that all the booth parts are taken out from Crate.
Remove Styrofoam packing and take out the wall panels from the crate.
Booth installation requires step ladder which will be a part of Chair Crate.
Caution: These booth panels are lightweight and can be damaged easily. Hence each wall
panel should be always handled with two people. Do not stand on the panels inside the crate as
this can break the panels. The Door Panel can come open and break, so carry the door in a way
it doesn’t open. If a cart is used for transporting panels, make sure the panels are protected by
pads.

The panels are numbered (1-6) with the temporary stickers. Stack the curved panels with the panel number
(1 - 6) up against a wall in the designated room or alternatively the door can be kept safely on the floor.
Then, set up the panels into the booth starting with the door (panel 1) followed by assembling the remaining
panels in order (refer section 3.2 detailed information).
2.3 Unpacking chair from the crate
Use a battery powered drill with Phillips to remove screws from top of the crate then all four sides.
Unwrap the chair by carefully cutting tape and removing the plastic sheeting on it. Note that ladder and ramp
which are required for the installation procedure are attached with inside chair crate.

Chair is strapped to a 2-wheel steel hand truck inside crate. A wooden ramp, that is part of the equipment on
the pallet, should be fastened with screws to the chair pallet to form a ramp. Tilt the chair and roll it off the
pallet and down the ramp. See Section 4.2 for details.
Caution: Two people are needed to handle the chair as the chair assembly is heavy. First, the
chair has to be tilted back. While the chair weight is counterbalanced by the person handling the
hand truck, the second person can help to guide, move and lower the chair in position.

3 Booth Installation
Refer to section 1.5 for the booth installation prerequisites before starting the booth installation. Booth
installation is done in different steps which are described below.
3.1 Floor Assembly:
The booth floor is comprised of three sections (one base and two wings). Assemble the booth floor with the
bottom side up. The wings of the floor are attached using the rubber mallet and secured using manufacturer
supplied screws. One wing has a slot that will align with the hole in the main floor base to complete the
channel for routing cables through floor into the rotational chair.
Flip the assembled base over, placing the weight on the main section to prevent damage to the wings. Clean
off the booth floor with a damp rag. Set ½ of the vinyl flooring in position and draw a line indicating the center
of the floor. Apply a few strips of double face adhesive tape on the outer perimeter of the booth floor portion
where the door panel will be situated. Place a strip of carpet tape on either side the line that was drawn
leaving a small gap between the strips. Lay down the vinyl flooring over the carpet tape. With the vinyl
flooring in place, remove the film from the carpet tape to secure the flooring. Press down on the flooring by
walking on the flooring over the tape. Repeat the same steps to place another vinyl flooring to cover another
half of booth flooring.

Finally the booth floor looks like this.
3.2 Booth Wall Assembly:
Set step ladder in booth floor. Ensure that you have all the tools required for installation included booth wall
screws and Phillips screwdriver.
Caution: These booth panels are lightweight and can be damaged easily. Hence each wall
panel should be always handled with two people. Do not stand on the panels inside the crate as
this can break the panels. The Door Panel can come open and break, so carry the door in a way
it doesn’t open. If a cart is used for transporting panels, make sure the panels are protected by
pads
One person should stand on the ladder and hold the door (panel #1) in place.
Set panel #2 in place on the right side of panel #1, locking walls together. You may need to put a ½” /
1.27 cm high block shim under panel #1 wall to get panel #2 to lock in place (the two panels ends should be
level at the top). Insert one of the marked wall screws into existing screw hole in top at 45 degree angle and
the panel levels can be adjusted using shims (Figure 4 and Figure 5)

Caution: Keep walls stabilized with hands when the next panel is positioned to prevent damage due
to fall.
Set panels #3, 4, and 5 in place and insert a screw into each panel as it is locked together. Make sure the
wall joints fit tightly together. Note: If a gap appears in the bottom or top of the wall joint, one or more of the
walls connection tabs did not lock. Lift the panel and reassemble. The rectangular hole in bottom of panel #3
is for the cables for motor, camera, and instrument. Line up the hole with the wire channel in the booth floor.
Set panel #6 in place. Before securing the last joint between panels #6
and #1, you should push the walls in at the base all around the perimeter
to bring #1 and #6 closer. When the panels are close together, open the
door and lift up on the door panel, then push the door frame and the
panels together (this joint is the hardest to latch). Pull down on panel #1
and lock into place. Carefully inspect the wall joint to make sure that it
has latched without a gap. Put the final screw in the top panel to join both
panels together. Place a curved threshold strip under the door, use
multiple threshold strip if necessary to keep the threshold in place with friction. This threshold strip protects
the narrow door frame from cracking when stepped on.

3.3 Booth Ceiling Assembly
Assemble the booth ceiling either upright or on the floor. Note: One ceiling wing will line up with a hole in the
corner of the main ceiling base. When assembling the booth ceiling on the floor, set the assembly on top of
the cardboard boxes to prevent damage or scratches to the ceiling. Offset the wing 1-2 inches from the main
section and slide the wing in a downward position. Use the rubber mallet to align the pieces, taking care only
to strike along the outside edge of the wing to prevent breaking the pieces.
Caution: Attach the wings using a rubber mallet by striking only the flat edge of the wing or the
plastic edge may crack.

Once the wing is aligned to the base section, secure the wing using the ceiling screws. Repeat the step for
the second wing.
Securing Wing to Ceiling
Using two people, walk the assembled booth ceiling above the booth and lower it into place. Do not lift the
ceiling by the wings to prevent damage to the ceiling. Caution must be taken not to damage the two wires
that located on top of the booth door.

Walking the Ceiling into the Booth
Line up the conduit holes in the top and panel #1 by lifting the ceiling and rotating (figure ). Feed the wires for
the fan and light through the hole down into panel #1 to the switch box. Push the small length conduit into the
ceiling. Connect the two phone plugs/jacks, one for the intercom magnetic switch above the door and
another for booth door safety switch.
Caution: Be careful not to crush the intercom connection wire and booth door safety switch wire
when setting the ceiling in place.

Attach the fan and light switches to the wires in the outlet box. Put the switches into the box and place the
cover plate over the switches. The light and fan are 24vdc. This power is supplied by the electronics in the
chair base, thus there will not be light or fans until the chair base is powered on.
Important: The booth fans are very quiet and you must listen carefully or observe them running from the roof.

There are 6 black strips that cover the wall joints on
the outside of the booth. These strips block light from
entering the booth. Each strip has tape along its
length. Remove the protective covering on each tape
strip. It is important to wipe the wall (both inside and
outside) with foam cleaner to remove dirt at the wall
joint. Starting flush with the top of the booth, press the
black strip onto the wall and continue to the floor to
cover the crack. Continue this for all six joints. Remove
the panel # labels from the top of each panel.
From the top using a step ladder, place 2” / 5.08 cm wide black tape all around the
ceiling perimeter at the wall-ceiling gap. This black tape blocks light from entering
from above.
Inside the booth, at the bottom of the door wall, there will be gaps to the right and to the left of the door.
There will be a light leak that must be blocked. Use a 3” / 7.62 cm long section of black tape torn into a 1” /
2.54 cm wide strip. Place the tape at the bottom of the wall
