3Reconditioning
Beforetheconditioningdecisionismade,itshouldalsobe
veriedbeyondacriticalevaluationofobjectivefeasibility
thatthisissensiblefromaneconomicandecological
perspective,takingintoconsiderationtheriskassociated
withtheconditioninganduseofthemedicaldeviceand
theexpenseandqualityassurance,orwhetheritwouldbe
bettertodisposeofthemedicaldevice.
Thereconditioningoftheproductencompassesthe
followingpoints:

IMPORTANT!
–Ifpossible,continuetousetheold
identicationlabel;ifthisisnotpossible,
thenewidenticationlabelmustcontain
thesameinformationandtheoldserial
number.(Replacementofsparepartswith
serialnumbers).
–Ifscrewswiththreadlockerareloosened,
thesemustbereplacedwithnewones.
3.1CleaningandDisinfection
Manualcleaninganddisinfectionproceduresmustalways
beconductedinaccordancewithdocumentedwork
instructionsandwithmeansandprocessescheckedfor
effectivenessandtailoredtothemedicaldevice.For
mechanicalcleaninganddisinfectionproceduresitcanbe
procedurallyensuredthattheparametersnecessaryto
attainquantiablecleaninganddisinfectionperformance
arecompliedwith.Inordertoguaranteethecontinuous
qualityofmanualand/ormechanicalconditioning
proceduresitmustbeprovenbyatleastperiodicalchecks
thattheprocedureisstilleffectiveandnounintentional
changeshavearisen.
Conditioningendswiththedocumentedapprovalforuse
ofthemedicaldevice.Thechainofactionsmustbe
optimizedasweaknessesinoneofthenecessaryindividual
stepsthreatentheoverallsuccess.Transportandstorage
mustnothaveanegativeimpactonthecharacteristicsof
theconditionedmedicaldevice.Duringtransportation,it
mustbeensuredthatcontaminationofaconditionedor
newmedicaldeviceisprecludeduntilitsusebymeansof
strictseparationofclean/uncleandevices.
Alldetergentsanddisinfectantsusedmustbeeffective,
compatiblewithoneanotherandbegentleonthe
materialsused.Relevantcleaninganddisinfectionbaths
mustberegularlyreplacedatdenedintervalsinorderto
guaranteetheireffectiveness.
Withrespecttocontacttimeandconcentration,the
disinfectantsusedmustcomplywiththelistofdisinfectants
issuedby‘TheNationalInstituteforClinicalExcellence’
guidelinesonInfectionControlwww.nice.org.uk/CG139
andyourlocalinfectioncontrolpolicy.
Detergentsanddisinfectantsmustbeselectedin
accordancewiththeequipmentandfacilitiesavailablein
eachinstanceinordertoguaranteeareliablecleaning
result.
Exchangedproductsandproductcomponentsmustbe
disposedofinaccordancewiththeirrespectivematerial
composition.
PreparationforCleaning
1.Removebatterybox.
2.Detachthebackrestfromtheseatplate.
3.Coverelectronicconnectionswithprotectivecapsto
ensurethatwatercannotgetin.
Cleaning
1.Removeanysupercialcontamination.
2.Treatallcomponentsofthebathlifterexceptbattery
boxandchargerwithdetergentandrinsedownwith
cleanwater.
3.Replacethecoversorwashtheminthewashing
machineatamaximumtemperatureof60°C.
IMPORTANT!
Riskofdamage
–Washingathightemperaturescancause
shrinkage.
–Donotdrycoversinthetumbledryer.
4.Useauniversaldetergenttocleanthebatterybox,
coversandchargerbyhand.
5.Allowallcomponentsofthebathliftertodryinthe
ambientairordryoffwithhandtowels.
6.Checkthesuctioncupsandreplaceifnecessary.
Disinfection
1.Disinfecttheseatsurface,thefrontofthebackrest
andthehandcontrolbywipingthemdownwith
disinfectant.
2.Dryallcomponentsofthebathlifterintheambient
airorallowthemtodryintheairuntilthereisno
moresupercialmoistureontheproduct.
