The Arlec HL70, 700Watt halogen worklight is suitable for indoor (ambient temperature 25˚C) or
temporary outdoor use. The worklight can be plugged into a standard power point and has a
weatherproof classification of IP44. HL70 allows three different light levels 200W, 500W & 700W
with the push-on switches located at the rear of the unit.
Assemble the worklight as shown in diagram. Fix the support bracket of lamp head onto the base
stand with 2 self threaded bolts, washer and nut. Ensure that the nuts are tight firmly holding the
support bracket and base stand assembly together.
Front safety grille has locking tabs.
Clip the front grille locking tabs on to the slots provided on the front face of the housing.
To adjust the tilt hold the carry handle and tilt the lamp head to the desired angle.
Spare tubes can be stored in the metal tube holders attached to the H base stand.
Remove the rubber grommets to store the spare tubes supplied with the unit.
NOTE: The safety adjustment stop prevents worklight from tilting too far forward.
This helps avoid accidental scorching or burning.
Do not remove support bracket from lantern body.
While adjusting the lamp head avoid pinching or bending of the supply cord.
WARNING
When the luminaire is operated outdoors the supply cord must be appropriately covered or
located such that it is subjected to indoor conditions only.
If the external flexible cable or cord of this luminaire is damaged, contact the Arlec Customer
Service Team. (Refer to details on back page) or a similar qualified person in order to avoid
hazard.
The tungsten halogen tubes are supplied and packed separately to avoid damage. Ensure that
worklight is unplugged from wall socket. Open the worklight housing by loosening the front cover
wing knob located on the rear of the unit, near the handle. The glass front of the housing will hinge
forward and down. Insert the tube in the holder, ensuring that you do not touch the glass envelope
of the tube with bare hands. Use the tube wrapper to handle the tube. (Oils from the hands can
cause the tube to fail or shatter).
If necessary the tube should be carefully cleaned with methylated spirit and dried before
installation. Do not attempt to adjust or force the tube holder with tools, but carefully push the
tube into the holder contacts. Reassemble the worklight housing.
Please observe the following do’s and don’ts to ensure safe and trouble free use:
DO ensure combustible material is kept away from worklight.
DO use the handle to adjust the beam.
DO keep the worklight out of reach of children when in use.
DO switch off and allow to cool for a minimum of 10 minutes before storing.
DO take extreme care in crowded or confined areas that worklight is not positioned where it can
be easily toppled over.
DO use the worklight in horizontal position (+4°). If not used in horizontal position the tube life
will be greatly reduced.
DON’T touch tube with bare hands. This could cause tube to shatter when worklight is switched on.
DON’T stand worklight in pools of water.
DON’T handle with wet hands or operate when standing on wet surface.
DON’T position the worklight closer than one metre from surface to be illuminated.
DON’T allow power cable to come in contact with front of worklight or housing.
DON’T touch the housing or glass while hot.
DON’T allow overhanging shrubs or foliage to come into contact with worklight.
DON’T place or operate the worklight closer than 5 metres to a swimming pool or spa.
DON’T operate the worklight with the front of housing opened.
