SPECIAL NOTE
This system is equipped with non-skid ru er ‘feet’ to prevent the product from moving
when you operate the controls. These ‘feet’ are made from non-migrating ru er material
specially formulated to avoid leaving any marks or stains on your furniture. However certain
types of oil ased furniture polishes, wood preservatives, or cleaning sprays may cause the
ru er ‘feet’ to soften, and leave marks or a ru er residue on the furniture.
To prevent any damage to your furniture we strongly recommend that you purchase small
self-adhesive felt pads, availa le at hardware stores and home improvement centers
everywhere, and apply these pads to the ottom of the ru er ‘feet’ efore you place the
product on fine wooden furniture.

your musical enjoyment. Now it's time to consider how you can maximize the fun and
excitement your equipment offers. This manufacturer and the Electronic Industries
Association's Consumer Electronics Group want you to get the most out of your
equipment y playing it at a safe level. One that lets the sound come through loud and
clear without annoying laring or distortion and, most importantly, without affecting your
sensitive hearing.
Sound can e deceiving. Over time your hearing "comfort level" adapts to higher volumes
of sound. So what sounds "normal" can actually e loud and harmful to your hearing.
Guard against this y setting your equipment at a safe level BEFORE your hearing
adapts.

2) AC Adaptor Op ration
1. Plug the included AC adaptor (output: 5 V AC, 400 mA ) into the AC IN jack located on
the side of the unit.
2. Plug the AC adaptor into an 120V AC, 60Hz household outlet.
3. Press the Power On/Stand y utton to turn on the unit for operation.
Note: If atteries are installed, they will automatically e disconnected when the plug is
inserted into the unit.
LOW BATTERY INDICATOR
When using attery power to operate this unit and the attery power ecomes weak, the
low attery icon will appear on LCD display. You are recommended to replace the
exhausted dry cell atteries immediately.
STANDBY MODE
Stand y Mode is when the unit is first plugged into an AC power source or when atteries
are first installed (display shows “12:00”), or after all the settings have een made and the
time is showing on the display. The radio is off, no uttons are pressed and no weather
alarms are sounding.
CLOCK SETTING
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please read over the instructions prior to setting the time. The unit will
automatically save the settings and exit the time set mode if you do not press any uttons
within 10 seconds during the time set process.
When the unit is in stand y mode:
1. Press and hold the TIME SET utton for 2 seconds to enter clock setting mode, hour
digits flashing.
2. Tap the TIME+ (UP) / TIME- (DOWN) utton repeatedly to set the hour value. Press and
hold the uttons to speed up the forward or reverse scanning of the digits.
Note: Make sure the hour is set so that the AM or PM indicators are displayed correctly.
3. Press the TIME SET utton after the hour is set, Minute digits flashing to prompt for
input.
4. Tap the TIME+ (UP) / TIME- (DOWN) utton repeatedly to set the minute value. Press
and hold the uttons to speed up the forward or reverse scanning of the digits.
5. Press the TIME SET utton again to finish clock setting.
Not : You will need to reset the clock if the unit is reset, or if you are using attery power
and the atteries ecome weak or exhausted.
LISTENING TO THE RADIO
1. Press the Power On/Stand y utton to turn on the unit, LCD acklight turns on.
2. Tap the AM or FM utton to select the AM or FM and, the radio mode indicator
displays.
3. To manually tune to a desired station, repeatedly tap the TUNE+ / - utton.

4. To automatically search for stations with strong signals, press and hold the
TUNE+ / - utton until the frequency digits on display egins to scan then release
the utton. The tuner will stop on the first strong signal it finds.
5. Rotate the volume control to o tain the desired sound level.
6. Press the utton on main unit to turn unit into stand y mode after listening. The
LCD acklight will automatically turn off after 15 seconds.
Not s:
- Manual tune to select weaker stations that might e skipped during automatic tuning.
- If the automatic tuning does not stop on the exact frequency of the station, for
example, it stops on 88.9 MHz instead of 88.8 MHz, use the manual tuning method
to "fine tune" to the exact frequency of the desired station.
- In power on mode, the LCD acklight will automatically turn on as default. Tap the
Dimmer utton repeatedly to select right, dim or acklight off.
HINTS FOR BEST RECEPTION:
- The AM antenna is located inside the ca inet of the unit. If AM reception is weak, change
the position of unit until the internal antenna picks up the strongest signal.
- To insure maximum FM tuner reception, the Telescopic Antenna should e fully extended
and rotated to o tain the est possi le station reception.
Radio Station Pr s ts
The unit allows you to store up to 10 AM and 10 FM stations for easy recall at any time.
S tting Pr s t Stations
1. Press the utton to turn on the unit.
2. Tap the AM or FM utton to select AM or FM radio mode.
3. Tune to the radio station you want to store in memory y using the TUNE+/- uttons.
4. Press and hold the memory MEM utton, the preset channel num er “P01” appears on
display and location num er “01” links.
5. To select desired preset station num er, tap the P+ or P- utton.
6. To confirm preset location, tap the MEM utton.
7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 to store other stations if necessary.
Not s:
- There is an approximate 10 seconds delay when programming, after 10 seconds, the
unit will automatically save the preset and switch ack to normal tuner mode.
- You can overwrite a preset station y overwriting and storing the new frequency in its
place.

1. Tap the utton to turn on the unit.
2. Tap the AM or FM utton to select AM or FM radio receiving mode.
3. To select desired preset channel, tap the P+ or P- utton repeatedly.

LISTENING TO A WEATHER CHANNEL
1) W ath r Band
1. Press the utton to turn on the unit.
2. Tap the WB utton to select weather and. The "WB" icon appears on the display a ove
the weather and channel frequency.
3. Tap the TUNE + / - utton to select your local weather roadcasting.
4. Rotate the VOLUME control to o tain the desired sound level.
5. To turn the radio off, press the utton.

Not : With regard to the NOAA Weather Band: You need to identify which
channel/frequency receives your local weather and report. When you change
locations either to another city or state, you may need to choose a different and to
get the local report in that location.
HINTS FOR BEST RECEPTION:
- To insure maximum weather and reception, the Telescopic Antenna should e fully
extended and rotated to o tain the est possi le station reception.
2) RECEIVING AN EMERGENCY WEATHER ALERT
The Weather Alert function allows you to set the weather radio to a stand y mode that will
turn the radio on automatically if there is a severe weather emergency in your area. To
receive emergency weather alert warnings, turn the unit on, tune to the strongest local
NOAA weather channel, adjust the volume to a level that you will hear when an alert is
received. The radio remains silent until an “alert” roadcast occurs.
IMPORTANT: It’s recommended that you use the AC adaptor to power the radio when you
use the Weather Alert feature.
1. Press the utton to turn on the unit.
2. Tap the WB utton to select weather and. The "WB" icon appears on the display
a ove the weather and channel frequency.

3. Tap the TUNE + /- utton to select your local weather station.
4. Tap the WB ALERT utton to enter Weather Alert stand y mode. The radio will turn off
and “ALERT” appears on the display a ove the clock.
5. The unit will turn on automatically when there is an alert message from the National
Weather Service. The “ALERT” icon on the display and the ALERT LED will e flashing
to let you know an emergency roadcast was received.
6. Tap the WB Alert utton again to turn off flashing Alert LED and “ALERT” icon.
7. Tap the AM, FM or WB utton to turn off the NOAA Alert.
The Weather Alert feature is availa le when powering the unit using the included AC
adaptor or attery power ( atteries not included).
Not : 1.) The radio will continue to drain the attery if it's left in Weather Stand y Mode,
so it is highly recommended that you use the included AC-AC adaptor to
prevent the attery from completely draining and turning the radio off while in
use. See the POWER SOURCE section a ove for more information on the
AC-AC adaptor.
2.) NOAA Weather and is a service roadcast of the U.S. Government and
availa le in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
3.) The NOAA Weather Service roadcasts a test alert every Wednesday
etween 11 am and Noon. To receive the roadcasts, the radio must e within
the range of the local roadcast site, 10 - 40 miles, depending on terrain and
o structions.

DIMMER
•The dimmer feature is only availa le when the radio is ON. Tap the DIMMER utton to
select right, dim or off for the display.
•When in stand y mode, tap the DIMMER utton to temporarily light the display for 10
seconds.

3. Clean your unit with a damp (never wet) cloth. Solvent or detergent should never e
used.
4. Avoid leaving your unit in direct sunlight or in hot, humid or dusty places.
5. Keep your unit away from heating appliances and sources of electrical noise such as
fluorescent lamps or motors.
CAUTION: Never allow any water or other liquids to get inside the unit while cleaning.
R s tting th Unit
If the unit experiences a power surge or electric shock, it’s possi le that the internal
micro-controller may lock up and the unit will not respond to any commands from the panel
controls. If this occurs, unplug the AC adaptor & remove all atteries, wait 60 seconds and
reinstall all atteries and reconnect AC adaptor power.
This should reset the unit and clear the system memory. The time and previously set
memory settings will also e reset, so you will need to reenter those.

purchase and provided the product is utilized within the U.S.A. This warranty is not assigna le or
transfera le. Our o ligation under this warranty is the repair or replacement of the defective unit or
any part thereof, except atteries, when it is returned to the SPECTRA Service Department,
accompanied y proof of the date of original consumer purchase, such as a duplicate copy of a
sales receipt.
You must pay all shipping charges required to ship the product to SPECTRA for warranty service. If
the product is repaired or replaced under warranty, the return charges will e at SPECTRA’s
expense. There are no other express warranties other than those stated herein.
