INTRODUCTION:
The TBS-100 facilitates the installation, service, and maintenance of analog telephone lines by being able to
detect dial tone, make and receive calls, and test the line via tone and pulse modes.
This Telephone Butt Set complies with GB/T15279-2002 Standards.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Linking the Butt Set to a Telephone Line
Link the TBS-100 to the telephone line by clamping the ABN clips directly into the telephone line
you want to test. You can also use the Telephone Line Test Cord and the Switch Box to link the
butt set to the telephone connection you want to test.
2. Calling
Press the HOOK Button on the inside of the butt set and the HOOK Indicator light on the outside
of the unit will illuminate and the telephone test set will be able to make calls. Simply dial the
telephone number on the device and it will make a call. After calling, press the HOOK Button
again to turn off the phone.
3. Receiving Calls
If you are testing the ringing function of the device, pick up the TBS-100 by pressing the HOOK
Button to talk. When finished, press the HOOK Button again to turn off the device.
4. Redialing via Tone or Pulse Mode
While the line is busy, hang up the butt set using the HOOK Button, pick it up again, and press
the REDIAL Button on the main faceplate. The tester will redial the last number via Tone Mode.
If you want to redial via pulse mode, first, hold the * Button for 3 seconds after hanging up to
change from Tone to Pulse Mode. Then, simply pick up the butt set and press the REDIAL Button
to call the last phone number entered in pulse mode.
5. Mute
Press the MUTE Button while talking to others during testing to mute your voice.
6. T/P Switch
Hold the * Button for 3 seconds to switch between Tone and Pulse modes.
7. Pause
When dialing, you can press the “PAUSE” button to pause dialing for 3.5 seconds to be able to
press other buttons on the device.
8. Switch Box
Instead of using the ABN Clips, you can also use the Switch Box and Telephone Line Test Cord to
test a telephone line connection. Simply connect the Test Cord to the Switch Box of the TBS-100
and to a telephone plug or distribution frame, and you will be able to test the connection.
CAUTION
- Ensure the tester is hung up before connecting the ABN clips to the test line.
- During testing, if the HOOK Indicator light is not bright, quickly remove the ABN clips. Then,
check the fuse. If the fuse has melted, there is dangerous voltage in this line, and the fuse will
need to be replaced with a new 0.3A fuse tube. Do not continue using the TBS-100 on this
line.
