NITIAL SETTINGS
GUIDE Plus+®Setup
Before you can start using your GUIDE Plus+ system you must
first connect your television equipment properly and then
complete an on-screen setup process so that the GUIDE Plus+
system knows what equipment you have and which "Host
Channel" to use for your household.
●Turn on the unit.
●Turn on the TV and select the AV mode.
●Slide the TV/DVD switch to DVD.
1Press the GUIDE.
●The GUIDE Plus+ setup menu appears
●Language and Country setting are already input from the
JVC's initial setup.
2Press selection keys to select "Postal Code" and press
number keys or selection keys to enter your postal code.
●The postal code you enter must be correct, and must
represent a postal code in the identified country. If it is not
correct or dose not match the country, you will receive no or
incorrect TV listings data.
●If you do not use an external receiver, leave the fields as-is,
with "None" indicated.
3Press GUIDE to complete the setting
External Receiver Users
If you use an external receiver you will have to set it up for the
GUIDE Plus+ system as following.
1Press selection keys to select "External Receiver 1", "2", or "3",
then press ENTER.
2Press selection keys to select reception ("terrestrial", "cable"
or "satellite")
3Press selection keys to select provider if applicable
4Press selection keys to select the brand of your external
receiver
5Identify which socket your external receiver is plugged into
("L-1" or "L-2")
●The unit will now try to communicate with your external receiver
via the G-LINK cable. The on-screen prompt will ask you if the
receiver has changed to a specified channel.
6If the external receiver changed channel correctly, Press
selection keys to select "YES" and press ENTER.
7Press GUIDE to complete the setting.
IMPORTANT:
If eternal receiver did not change channels, or if receiver brand is
not indicated in the on-screen list, refer to ALTERNATE SETUP.
Identify the GUIDE Plus+ Host Channel
The TV listings data available in the GUIDE Plus+ system is
distributed throughout Europe by selected broadcasters called
"Host Channel". It is important that your unit "identifies" the host
channel for your region and setup correctly.

ALTERNATE SETUP
If your external receiver is not in the list or your external receiver
could not be controlled properly by the unit, please follow these
steps.
1For External Receiver brand, select "None".
2Press GUIDE to exit the set up menu.
3Tune your external receiver to your "Host Channel"(See list of
Host Channels) and Leave it "ON" overnight.
4The unit must be on "STANDBY" overnight.
The next day, go back into the GUIDE Plus+ setup menu.
●The new external receiver codes might have been added.
5Select the brand of your external receiver.

Plus+ system.
Function of Remote Control Keys
Guide You can access GUIDE Plus+ on your TV screen.
Selection keys
To navigate around the GUIDE Plus+ menu.
ENTER
To confirm a selection or to leave GUIDE Plus+ and tune directly
to a currently running show.
Action

To access the extended information box for a long synopsis.

Areas
The GUIDE Plus+ system in the unit consists of seven Areas. All
Areas can be accessed via the Menu Bar.
Grid:
The GUIDE Plus+ "Home" Area displaying the TV listings
information by chanel and time for seven days in advance.
●Set a programme to record and reminder(Watcdh).
●Lock and unlock the Video Window.
●Access Information Panels.
Search:
You can search the T listings data by categories (e.g. Sports) and
subcategories (e.g. Football) or personal keywords.
●Search by categories or keywords.
Colour assign: Movies(Purple), Sports(Green),
Children(Blue), Others/My Choice(Teal)
●Set a programme to record and reminder(Watcdh).
●Access Information Panels.
My TV:
You can set a Profile and receive recommendations acording to
your preferences.
●Set yp a profile by channel, category and/or keyword.
●Set a programme to record and reminder(Watcdh).
●Access Information Panels.
Schedule:
Displays all scheduleed recordings and reminder.
●Edit/Delete One button Record and Reminder(Watch).
●Set/Edit/Delete SHOWVIEW®Recording.
●Set/Edit/Delete Manual Recording.
Info:
Area for additional information such as weather. (not available in
all regions)
Editor:
Channel settings.
Setup:
Basic settings of GUIDE Plus+.
Editor
The Editor Area is the central location for your to manage your
channels. Every change in the Editor Area leads to a change in
the Grid.
1Press selection keys to select "Editor".
●The Editor menu have two tiles of left and right.
2Press selection keys to select the left tile of the channel that
you would like to edit.
3Press the RED Action for ON or OFF of the channel.
4Press selection keys to select the right tile of the channel that
you would like to edit.
5Press the RED Action to change the source.
6Press the GREEN Action and press number keys to enter
the programme number.
7Press ENTER to confirm the settings.

GUIDE Plus+®Timer Programming
The GUIDE Plus+ system has several functions.
One-Button-Record : This feature is available anytime you can
highlight a programme tile. At the right time, the unit will tune to
the correct channel and record the selected programme.
Search : This feature allows you to locate programme listings by
category, subcategory or via keyword, and enables you to quickly
and easily find something of interest to watch, record or to set
reminder.
Schedule : The Schedule Area is the central location for you to
examine, set, delete and edit scheduled events of
On-Button-Recordings(or Reminder), SHOWVIEW Recordings and
Manual Recordings.
My TV : This feature allows you to view the logos of all the
channels available in the GUIDE Plus+ system in your home.
●Turn on the unit.
●Turn on the TV and select the AV mode.
●Slide the TV/DVD switch to DVD.
One-Button-Record
1Press the GUIDE.
●The Grid Area of GUIDE Plus+ appears.
2Press selection keys to select a programme tile.
3Press Action(RED) to set for recording.
●At right time, the unit will tune to the correct channel and
record the selected programme.
●A recording set with the One-Button-Record feature is set with
the following default parameters.
Date, Name of the programme, Channel, Start time, Duration,
Quality: SP, Frequency: ONCE, Extra time at end: none,
Destination: HDD
●The shows you have designated for recording can be reviewed
and edited in the "Schedule Area".
One-Button-Reminder
1Press Action(GREEN) to set a reminder to watch a
programme.
●Shows to be watched are displayed in a different colour than
shows set for recording.
NOTES:
●If there is additional information about a programme, the
"i"(information) symbol will be displayed in box, This alarts you
to press INFO to bring up the expanded information box.
●When you press Action(YELLOW) , "Channel (Mosaic) Screen"
appears.You can easily access a channel information.
Lock/Unlock Video Window
When you enter the GUIDE Plus+ system the channel you were
watching remains visible in the video window. The date stamp
above the window lets you know what channel, day and time it is.
1Press selection keys to select the channel logo of the channel
that you would like to unlock.
●The red action button at the top of the screen will now display
the word "UNLOCK".

Delete Timer Programme
1Press the GUIDE.
2Press selection keys to select the "Schedule".
3Press selection keys to select the left recording tile.
4Press Action(RED) to delete the scheduled event.
My TV Area
The My TV Area allows you to set up a personal profile. You can
define a profile by channels, categories and/or by keywords. As
soon as a personal profile has been set, the GUIDE Plus+ system
is scanning automatically and continuously the TV listings data for
the next seven days. Every time you are accessing the My TV
Area, a list of programmes is displayed according to your easily
find something of interest to watch, record or to set a reminder.
1Press the GUIDE.

●The highlight is on the word "Channels".
4Press Action(YELLOW) to add a channel
●The Mosaic screen appears

●Repeat this step to add more channels (up to 16).
6Press selection keys to select the "Categories".
7If you would like to add a category, press Action(YELLOW).
●The "Search Area" appears

●Repeat this step to add more categories (up to 4).
9Press selection keys to select the "Keywords".
10 If you would like to add a keyword, press Action(YELLOW).
●The "Virtual keyboard" appears
11 Enter a keyword and press Action(GREEN) to confirm.
●Repeat this step to add more keywords (up to 16).

TIMER RECORDING
You can programme this unit to timer record as many as
16 programmes.
With the SHOWVIEW system, timer programming is greatly
simplified because each TV programme has a corresponding code
number which your unit is able to recognise.
You can use the remote control to enter the SHOWVIEW number.
1Load a recordable disc if recording to DVD.
2Press PROGRAMME to access the programme top screen.
3Press selection keys to select ASHOWVIEWB, then press
ENTER.
●When APROGRAMME FULL DELETE UNWANTED TIMER
PROGRAMMESBappears on the TV screen, you need to
cancel some of the reserved programmes. (Apg. 48)
4Press the number keys
to enter the SHOWVIEW
number of a programme
you wish to record.
OR
Press selection keys to
select the desired
number key on the
screen, then press
ENTER. Repeat to enter
all required numbers.
●If you have made a mistake, press selection keys to select
ADELETEBor ADELETE ALLB, then press ENTER and input the
correct number before you press ENTER again.
5Press selection keys to select ARECORD TOB, then press
ENTER. Press selection keys to select the desired recording
deck, then press ENTER.
6Press selection keys to select ACONFIRMB, then press
ENTER.
●If the number you entered is invalid, ASHOWVIEW NO. ERROR
CONFIRM SHOWVIEW NO. THEN RETRYBappears on the TV
screen. Input a valid SHOWVIEW number.
●If AGUIDE PROGRAMME IS NOT SET SET GUIDE
PROGRAMME THEN RETRYBappears on the TV screen, set
Guide Programme Numbers manually. (Apg. 73)
7The SHOWVIEW number you entered and the matching timer
recording information are displayed on the TV screen. Check
the programme data.
●To cancel this setting, press RETURN.
8Press selection keys to select the desired recording option as
required. Press selection keys to select the desired setting,
then press ENTER.

●If APROGRAMME OVERLAPPEDBappears on the TV screen,
delete or modify the programmes.
NOTES:
●There may be cases that the SHOWVIEW Timer Programming
function prolongs the stop time of the programming.
●When two successive programmes are recorded on a DVD-RW
disc with the SHOWVIEW Timer Programming function, the
beginning of the second one may be left off the recording.
●If the copy limited programme is received during timer recording,
the unit enters Record Pause mode. Recording starts again if it is
switched to a recordable broadcast during the time you
programmed.

●Make sure that the unit’s built-in clock is set properly.
●Turn on the unit.
●Turn on the TV and select the AV mode.
●Slide the TV/CABLE/SAT/DVD switch to DVD.

IMPORTANT:
Make sure the channel position number you wish to record is
displayed; if not, see ASHOWVIEW System SetupB(Apg. 73) and
set the Guide Programme number correctly.
IMPORTANT:
If you have moved to a different area or if a broadcasting
station’s channel number has been changed, the wrong channel
number will be displayed on the SHOWVIEW programme screen
in step 7. When this happens, set the correct Guide Programme
number for that station. (Apg. 73, ASHOWVIEW System SetupB)
Satellite Receiver Users
To timer record a satellite broadcast using the SHOWVIEW
system:
APerform ASatellite Receiver Control SettingB(Apg. 22).
BPerform ASHOWVIEW Timer ProgrammingB(Apg. 45).
CLeave the satellite receiver’s power on.

system, you need to install the provided Satellite Controller and
perform the procedure described in ASatellite Receiver Control
SettingB(Apg. 22).
●Repeat steps 5–7as necessary.
8Press SET UP to complete the setting.
SHOWVIEW System Setup
IMPORTANT:
Normally, Auto Set Up (Apg. 17), Preset Download (Apg. 18)
or Auto Channel Set (Apg. 74) sets the Guide Programme
numbers automatically. You need to set the Guide Programme
numbers manually only in the following cases.
●When timer programming with the SHOWVIEW system, the
channel position, where the station you wish to record is
received on your unit, is not selected,
OR
when you add a channel after Auto Set Up, Preset Download
or Auto Channel Set has taken place,
^Set the Guide Programme number for that station manually.
●When you wish to timer record a satellite programme with the
SHOWVIEW system,
^Set the Guide Programme numbers for all satellite
broadcasts received on your satellite receiver.
●Turn on the unit.
●Turn on the TV and select the AV mode.
●Slide the TV/CABLE/SAT/DVD switch to DVD.
