About KD-MLV4X4PRO
Key Digital’s KD-MLV4x4Pro is a 4 HDMI input with 4 HDMI + 4 UHDoTP mirrored output matrix, multi-view
tiling video processor, and independent audio routing.
KD-MLV4x4Pro is perfect for applications like Sports & Gaming Caves, Bar & Restaurant, Corporate AV, House
of Worship, Entertainment Centers, Museums, and E-Sports. Or, simply use KD-MLV4x4Pro to deliver wow-
factor to your distributed video systems.
The multi-view tiling processor enables users to view up to 4 video sources at the same time on a display in
different default and custom layout presets. Custom and multi-view layouts include the option to layer content,
applying desired bezel frame width and color.
4K / UHD content up to 3840 x 21640p 4:2:0 at 60fps is supported and when in full-screen mode switching from
source to source is completely seamless. Integrate with legacy displays or projectors by applying 4K to 1080p
or 720p down-conversion as needed. Each output has mirrored HDMI and UHDoTP connections, for a total of 8
possible connected displays. Four (4) Receiver units are included, and they get their power from the main unit
for ease of installation.
KD-MLV4x4Pro supports independent audio routing with de-embedding on analog balanced/un-balanced and
digital optical connections and surround formats up to 5.1 Dolby® / DTS™. Audio from any source may be
selected while in multi-view mode.
For ease of installation and viewing, KD-MLV4x4Pro features 9 built-in test patterns and optional on-screen
display text for each source. KD-MLV4x4Pro supports HDCP 2.2, provides EDID handshaking to the connected
source from a library of 8 AV profiles or a copy of any connected display’s EDID file. IR from a control system
may be input at KD-MLV4x4Pro and extended to control the displays connected to the KD-EXMLVRx units.

Quick Setup Guide
Begin with the KD-MLV4X4PRO and KD-EXMLVRx units, all source, display devices, audio system, and
any other connected peripherals powered off.
Connect
1. Connect video sources into the HDMI input ports
2. Connect video displays / projectors to the HDMI output ports on the main and Rx units
3. Connect CAT5e/6 cabling from the main unit’s UHDoTP outputs to the RX unit’s UHDoTP input
4. Connect audio using the digital or analog outputs ports located on the main unit.
5. Connect Control System. For KD-App control and/or IP control from a control system or PC, connect
TCP/IP port to network. RS-232 and IR control may also be utilized
6. (Optional) Connect IR to / from Rx units
a. If controlling display/projector: Connect from control system into IR In/Out ports of main unit
and connect IR emitter to the IR Out port of the respective Rx unit (1→1 … 4→4).
b. If controlling video source: Connect IR sensor to Rx unit to collect line-of-site IR from a
remote. Connect IR emitter to the respective IR In/Out port of main unit (1→1 … 4→4).
7. Connect power. Screw-in power supply to the KD-MLV4X4PRO unit, and then connect power to
outlets.
8. Power on sources, displays, and audio systems to begin use.
Configure
Configure KD-MLV4X4PRO with Key Digital Management Software Pro (KDMS Pro). Download HERE
1. Connect to KD-MLV4X4PRO from your PC using the USB micro port on the face of the unit
2. Open the KDMS Pro software and perform a USB scan (2a). Choose “NO” and Start Scan when the
USB Device Scan prompt appears (2b)
3. Choose the detected device from the Devices window (fig. 3)
4. Enter the desired unit name (4a), IP address (4b) and IP gateway (4c) settings for the unit
5. Save (5)
6. Select the desired EDID handshake for each video source (6)
7. (Optional) Set the direction of the IR signal. The default setting / signal flow is IR In on the MLV4x4Pro
and IR out on the Rx units to control the connected displays/projectors.
8. Set the desired Input/Output names by entering the Input/Output Settings section of the properties
window and selecting the Change Input/Output Name button (7a), selecting the desired input/output
(7b), entering the desired name (7d) and pressing the Change button (7d).

9. Your unit is now ready to control from the web UI, KDMS Pro control panel, KD-App, or by professional
control system. Full access to all settings/commands is achieved via terminal session using Tera Term
or PuTTy software.

2. Download and open KD-App and/or KDMS™
3. Ensure the iOS device and/or PC computer are on the same network with
KD- MLV4x4Pro
4. Perform a network scan in the KD-App/KDMS™
5. Select and control the selected KD- MLV4x4Pro
6. To enter KDMS Pro end-user mode, key CTRL + ALT + N after selecting
the unit in the devices tree.

Option 3: Control via web UI
Access KD-MLV4x4Pro’s web UI from any phone, tablet, or
PC. The web UI shows the input, output, and unit name, for a
user-friendly experience.
1. Connect and Configure your KD- MLV4x4Pro as
described in the Connect & Configure sections
2. Ensure the PC, phone, or tablet are on the network
with KD- MLV4x4Pro
3. Enter IP Address of KD-MLV4x4Pro unit into the web
browser search bar
4. Enter the password. Default password is “admin”
5. Use the web UI to control video routing (5a) and select
multi-view for each output (5b), choose audio sources in multi-view mode (5c) or for independent audio
routing (5d).

Option 4: Control via professional control system
KD-MLV4x4Pro allows control over serial interface for bi-directional communication.
•For RS-232 control use pins 4, 5, and
6 of the Unit Control port. Baud Rate is
57,600
•For TCP/IP control the default static IP
address is 192.168.1.239, with port 23.
•KD-MLV4x4Pro supports KD’s standard matrixing protocol, so if you have controlled a KD matrix with a
third-party control system before, you will likely have success with the same driver/module.

•The Pin assignment for the audio is as follows:
oLeft + is Pin 1; Left - is Pin 3; Left Ground is Pin 2.
oRight + is Pin 4; Right - is Pin 6; Right Ground is Pin 5.

•For un-balanced audio, use the + and Ground pins of each channel
•Drives audio signals up to 2VRMS with a sampling rate of 192KHz
•Up to 255ms of delay may be added per output using KDMS Pro software or by sending command via
TCP/IP or RS-232. Delay settings apply to both the analog and digital ports for the output.
•There are no volume or tone control features
•There are no format conversion features. For example, to achieve 2ch analog audio output, the selected
HDMI input source audio format must be 2ch.
Digital Audio Outputs (4): Optical
•Provides digital audio output from the selected HDMI input source.
•Supports PCM, SPDIF (IEC 60958), Dolby Digital®, and DTS™ up to 5.1 / 6.1
•There are no volume or tone control features
•There are no format conversion features. For example, to achieve 2ch analog audio output, the selected

IR In/Out (4):
•The default setting is IR Input. Direction may be changed using KDMS Pro software, TCP/IP or RS-232.
•IR In/Out ports correspond to their respective Rx unit. IR is not routable
•RS-232 is not supported
•Only the provided IR Sensor and IR Emitter should be used. Third-party sensors or emitters may not be
compatible and/or may result in damage
•The included IR Sensor Receives signals from a 90° angle at up to 30 ft. away.

Forced HPD Slide Switch: In cases of many layers of connectivity or non-standard devices in-line, hot plug
detection (HPD) may be lost or drop below standard levels, leading to the video display not detecting a
connected source and resulting in no image.
•If set to ON, Hot Plug Detection (HPD) voltage is forced at the HDMI connection of the Rx unit. The
connected display will be fed a constant voltage to inform the device that a partner is always connected
and active.
•If set to OFF, Hot Plug Detection (HPD) voltage is passed thru from connected source to the display
FW (firmware) USB:

Factory Default Reset via Front Buttons: Simultaneously press & hold the Video and Input Swap buttons for
10 seconds to reset KD-MLV4x4Pro to its factory settings:
•All outputs select source 1
•EDID setting 5 is applied at all HDMI inputs
•IP Address, input & output naming, and all other applied settings are defaulted
LCD Display
A. During bootup, the model number and unit’s IP address are shown
B. During Switching / Multi-View select for video, the selected source number or “MV” is shown for each
output
C. During Switching for audio, the selected source number is shown for each output
IR Remote Control

Set EDID via IR remote control: A unique EDID handshake can be chosen for each HDMI input
•To apply EDID handshake from built-in EDID file
library:
1. R2 button (section E)

5. EDID handshake 1-9 (section F),
according to EDID table:
•To apply EDID handshake copied from a display/projector connected to an HDMI output:

Web UI
Use the web UI to control AV routing and other basic functionality, as well as set custom multi-view layouts and
adjust IP settings from any web browser.
•The Web UI displays the names of the unit (A), and of each
output (B) and input (C).
oNames may be updated using KDMS Pro software,
as instructed in the Configure section of the Quick
Setup Guide.
1. Open web browser and enter KD-MLV4x4Pro’s IP address.
oThe Default IP address is 192.168.1.239
2. Enter password. The default password is admin and may be adjusted in the network settings.
•For HDMI AV switching control:
1. Enter Video tab
2. Select desired output
3. Select Full Screen or desired MultiView layout
4. If Full Screen, choose the desired Input
•For Multi-View Audio selection, the selected Input source apples to all MultiView zones
•For External Audio switching control, first select the desired Output, then choose the desired Input
