Handling and Safety Precautions
These precautions should be strictly observed in order to ensure safe, long-term
use of the product.
The following precautions should be observed particularly strictly:
1. Thismodelismanufacturedtofeellikealivinghumanbodytothetouch.Forcefulorcareless
handlingmaydamagethemodel.
2. Anysuctioncatheters,tracheostomycannula,andfeedingtubesusedfortrainingshouldbeused
onlywiththemodel.Neverusetheseitemswithalivinghumanbody.
3. Neverputthesimulatedsputumprovidedasanaccessoryintohumanbody(eyesormouth).(The
simulatedsputumismanufacturedfromamaterialusedforcosmetics,andismanufacturedusing
materialsthatmeetTheJapaneseStandardsofCosmeticIngredients,aswellasSupplementtothe
JapaneseCosmeticIngredientsCodex.)
4. Liquidleakagemayoccurwithimproperuse,anddirtythesurroundings.Pleasereadthe
instructionmanualcarefullybeforeuse.Itisrecommendedthatthemodelbeusedinaplacethat
willnotbedamagedifleakageoccurs,orontopofanabsorptivesheet.
5. Duringpracticeandclean-up,pleasemakesurethattheheadofthemodelisnotlowerthanthebody
whenthetubefeedingtankcontainswaterorotherliquids.Otherwise,leakagewilloccur.
6. Thisproductisintendedforuseinstandardoperatingenvironments.Donotuseitinheavyindustrial
settings.
7. Thismodelusesurethanefoamforsomeofitsparts,andmaybesusceptibletodamagefrompests
thatareattractedtourethanefoam(suchasinsectsintheantfamily).
Whenstoringthismodel,ensurethatthoroughmeasuresaretakentopreventpestdamagebefore
storing.Thecompanywillnotbeinvolvedwithorheldliableforpestdamagethatoccursduring
storage.
Maintenance of the model after use
1. Donotplaceobjectsonthemodelmainbody,asthismaycausedeformation.
2. Tocleanthemodel,useaneutralsolventdilutedwithwater,orusewater,andwipethemodel
withapieceofgauzemoistenedwiththesolventorwater.
NOTE:Donotusethinner,benzeneorsimilarsolvents.
3. Storethemodelinalocationwhereitwillnotbeexposedtodirectsunlightorultravioletrays.
4. Anymarksmadeusingwater-basedandoil-basedpens,pencils,chalk,paint,etc.willpenetrateintothe
modelandcannotbeerased.Pleasebesurenevertousetheseitems.

1. Outline and Features
Outline
Thismodelcanbeusedtopracticetheinsertionofsuctioncathetersintothenasalcavity,
oralcavityandtracheostomysite,aswellsuctionprocedures,nasogastrictubefeeding,and
gastrostomycareprocedures,routinelyappliedinthenursingandcaregivingelds.
Thefacialregioncanbedividedintotwohalvesalongthemidline,allowingconrmationofthe
actualinsertionstatusofasuctioncatheterandfeedingtubes.
Thetubefeedingcomponentscomewithaninternaltank,allowingnasogastrictubefeedingand
gastrostomymanagementusingactualliquids.Thetankhasadrainagefunction,sothereisno
needtoworryaboutoverowwhenthetankbecomesfull.
Insertionofsuctioncathetersintothenasalcavity,oralcavityandtracheostomysiteand
suctioningpractice,whicharedonewiththeSuctionTrainingModelTypeII,canalsobe
performedwiththetubefeedingcomponentsattached.
Thefollowingcathetersizescanbeusedwiththemodel.
Features
・ Suction Training Model Type II
Siliconerubberisusedforthemodel,sothatstudentscanpracticewithanexteriorandfeelthat
areveryclosetothoseofalivinghumanbody.
Thesimulatedsputumprovidedasanaccessorycanbeinsertedintothenasalcavity,oralcavity
ortrachea,fortraining.Thisallowsstudentstotraininthesamemannerastheactualprocedure,
andenablesmoreeectivesuctiontraining.(Viscosityofthesimulatedsputumcanbecontrolled
usingwater.)
・ Tube feeding components
Insertionofthefeedingtubeallthewaytothegastricfunduscanbepracticed.Airbubble
soundscanbeheardandsuctionofgastricuidcanbeusedtoconrmtheinsertionofthetube.
Techniquescanalsobepracticedusingactualnutrientsolution,equivalenttoroutinenursing
caresettings.
Themodelcanbetakenapartforveryeasymaintenance.Thetanksforliquidsarewashable,so
hygieneisnotaworry.

3-1. Connecting the bronchus and main body of the Suction Training Model Type II (when practicing
suctioning)
1)Fitthebronchusclaspontothebronchus.
2)InsertthebronchusintothetracheaofthemainbodyofSuctionTrainingModelTypeII.Withyour
ngers,tightenthebronchusclaspontheoverlappingparttosecuretothetracheaoftheSuction
TrainingModelTypeIImainbody.
3-2. Apply lubricant (glycerin) inside the nasal and oral cavities.
Applyseveraldropsoftheglycerinthatcomeswiththemodeltoapieceofgauzeorothersoftcloth,
andwiththatgauzespreadthelubricantwithintheentirenasalandoralcavities(tongueandoral
cavitywalls)sothatallsurfacesareslick.

3-3. Place the simulated sputum into the nasal cavity, oral cavity, and bronchus.
1)Beforestartingtraining,useaspoontoextractanamountofsimulatedsputumandplaceit
insectionswheresuctioningwillbepracticed.Setthesideofthefaceinplaceasshownbelow,
matchingittothehookandloopfasteners.
Note:Iftrainingisbeingperformedwiththesideofthefacesetinplace,attachthesideoftheface
withoutinstallingtheaccompanyingacrylicboard.
2)Tovisuallyconrmpositionofthesuctioncatheterswhenpracticingsuctioningofthenasalcavity,
attachtheacrylicboardforthesideofthefaceasshownbelowbeforethestartoftraining.
Note:Ensurethattheacrylicboardforthesideofthefaceisfacinginthecorrectdirection.

Pleasemakesurethattheheadofthemodelisnotlowerthanthebodyoncewaterhasbeen
pouredin.Otherwise,leakagewilloccur.

1)JointhetubefeedingtankandtheesophagusoftheSuctionTrainingModelTypeIIasshown
below.
2)Coverwiththebody.Placethebodyonthebackplatesothatthethree
hookandloopfasteners
alignproperly.Pushdownlightlyonthebodysothatthehookandloopfasteners
adheretoeach
other.

IIandtightenasshownbelow.AdjustthebeltsothatthereisnoslackbetweentheSuctionTraining
ModelTypeIIandthetubefeedingbody.
4)Attachtheinsertionsupportpiecetothesideofthelarynx,asshownbelow.Attachingthe
insertionsupportpiecemakesiteasierforthetubetoentertheesophagus.Afterattachingthe
insertionsupportpiece,setthesideofthefaceinplace.
Note:Whenusingtheacrylicboardforthesideoftheface,thereisnospecialneedtoattachthe
insertionsupportpiece.

Note:Usea20-Frgastrostomytube.
Fitthegastrostomytubeinthegastrostomyopeningontheleftsideoftheabdomenofthebody.
Placeeachgastrostomytubewithreferencetoitsrespectivehandlingmethods.
*Wheninsertingagastrostomytubeintothegastrostomyopening,insertionwillbeeasierifasmall
amountoflubricant(glycerin)isputonthetipofthegastrostomytube.

3) Wrap thebeltonthe shoulder of thebody over theshoulderofthe SuctionTrainingModel Type II and
tightenasshown below. Adjust thebeltsothatthere is no slackbetween theSuction Training Model
Type II andthe tube feedingbody.
4) Attach theinsertion support piece to thesideofthe larynx,asshown below. Attachingthe insertion
support piece makesiteasierfor thetubetoenter theesophagus.After attachingthe insertionsupport
piece, setthe side of theface in place.
Note:Whenusing theacrylic boardfor thesideofthe face, thereisnospecial need to attach the
insertionsupport piece.

1)Putthemodelinthepositioninwhichpracticewillbedone.
Note:Pleaseusethismodelinpositionsfrom5°to<90°.Ifpracticeiscarriedoutwiththeheadof
themodelplacedlowerthanthebody,orinananteexionoralateralposition,leakagewilloccur.
2)Puttheendofthedrainagetubeintothedrainagereceptacleorsink,andopenthecocksonthe
