Handling and Safety Precautions

These precautions should be strictly observed in order to ensure safe, long-term

use of the product.

The following precautions should be observed particularly strictly:

1. Thismodelismanufacturedtofeellikealivinghumanbodytothetouch.Forcefulorcareless

 handlingmaydamagethemodel.

2. Anysuctioncatheters,tracheostomycannula,andfeedingtubesusedfortrainingshouldbeused

 onlywiththemodel.Neverusetheseitemswithalivinghumanbody.

3. Neverputthesimulatedsputumprovidedasanaccessoryintohumanbody(eyesormouth).(The

 simulatedsputumismanufacturedfromamaterialusedforcosmetics,andismanufacturedusing

 materialsthatmeetTheJapaneseStandardsofCosmeticIngredients,aswellasSupplementtothe

 JapaneseCosmeticIngredientsCodex.)

4. Liquidleakagemayoccurwithimproperuse,anddirtythesurroundings.Pleasereadthe

 instructionmanualcarefullybeforeuse.Itisrecommendedthatthemodelbeusedinaplacethat

 willnotbedamagedifleakageoccurs,orontopofanabsorptivesheet.

5. Duringpracticeandclean-up,pleasemakesurethattheheadofthemodelisnotlowerthanthebody

whenthetubefeedingtankcontainswaterorotherliquids.Otherwise,leakagewilloccur.

6. Thisproductisintendedforuseinstandardoperatingenvironments.Donotuseitinheavyindustrial

settings.

7. Thismodelusesurethanefoamforsomeofitsparts,andmaybesusceptibletodamagefrompests

thatareattractedtourethanefoam(suchasinsectsintheantfamily).

 Whenstoringthismodel,ensurethatthoroughmeasuresaretakentopreventpestdamagebefore

storing.Thecompanywillnotbeinvolvedwithorheldliableforpestdamagethatoccursduring

storage.

Maintenance of the model after use

1. Donotplaceobjectsonthemodelmainbody,asthismaycausedeformation.

2. Tocleanthemodel,useaneutralsolventdilutedwithwater,orusewater,andwipethemodel

 withapieceofgauzemoistenedwiththesolventorwater.

 NOTE:Donotusethinner,benzeneorsimilarsolvents.

3. Storethemodelinalocationwhereitwillnotbeexposedtodirectsunlightorultravioletrays.

4. Anymarksmadeusingwater-basedandoil-basedpens,pencils,chalk,paint,etc.willpenetrateintothe

modelandcannotbeerased.Pleasebesurenevertousetheseitems.

Outline

 Thismodelcanbeusedtopracticetheinsertionofsuctioncathetersintothenasalcavity,

oralcavityandtracheostomysite,aswellsuctionprocedures,nasogastrictubefeeding,and

gastrostomycareprocedures,routinelyappliedinthenursingandcaregivingelds.

 Thefacialregioncanbedividedintotwohalvesalongthemidline,allowingconrmationofthe

actualinsertionstatusofasuctioncatheterandfeedingtubes.

 Thetubefeedingcomponentscomewithaninternaltank,allowingnasogastrictubefeedingand

gastrostomymanagementusingactualliquids.Thetankhasadrainagefunction,sothereisno

needtoworryaboutoverowwhenthetankbecomesfull.

 Insertionofsuctioncathetersintothenasalcavity,oralcavityandtracheostomysiteand

suctioningpractice,whicharedonewiththeSuctionTrainingModelTypeII,canalsobe

performedwiththetubefeedingcomponentsattached.

 Thefollowingcathetersizescanbeusedwiththemodel.

Features

・ Suction Training Model Type II

 Siliconerubberisusedforthemodel,sothatstudentscanpracticewithanexteriorandfeelthat

areveryclosetothoseofalivinghumanbody.

 Thesimulatedsputumprovidedasanaccessorycanbeinsertedintothenasalcavity,oralcavity

ortrachea,fortraining.Thisallowsstudentstotraininthesamemannerastheactualprocedure,

andenablesmoree󱐯ectivesuctiontraining.(Viscosityofthesimulatedsputumcanbecontrolled

usingwater.)

・ Tube feeding components

 Insertionofthefeedingtubeallthewaytothegastricfunduscanbepracticed.Airbubble

soundscanbeheardandsuctionofgastricuidcanbeusedtoconrmtheinsertionofthetube.

Techniquescanalsobepracticedusingactualnutrientsolution,equivalenttoroutinenursing

caresettings.

 Themodelcanbetakenapartforveryeasymaintenance.Thetanksforliquidsarewashable,so

hygieneisnotaworry.

3-1. Connecting the bronchus and main body of the Suction Training Model Type II (when practicing

suctioning)

1)Fitthebronchusclaspontothebronchus.

2)InsertthebronchusintothetracheaofthemainbodyofSuctionTrainingModelTypeII.Withyour

ngers,tightenthebronchusclaspontheoverlappingparttosecuretothetracheaoftheSuction

TrainingModelTypeIImainbody.

3-2. Apply lubricant (glycerin) inside the nasal and oral cavities.

Applyseveraldropsoftheglycerinthatcomeswiththemodeltoapieceofgauzeorothersoftcloth,

andwiththatgauzespreadthelubricantwithintheentirenasalandoralcavities(tongueandoral

cavitywalls)sothatallsurfacesareslick.

3-3. Place the simulated sputum into the nasal cavity, oral cavity, and bronchus.

1)Beforestartingtraining,useaspoontoextractanamountofsimulatedsputumandplaceit

insectionswheresuctioningwillbepracticed.Setthesideofthefaceinplaceasshownbelow,

matchingittothehookandloopfasteners.

Note:Iftrainingisbeingperformedwiththesideofthefacesetinplace,attachthesideoftheface

withoutinstallingtheaccompanyingacrylicboard.

2)Tovisuallyconrmpositionofthesuctioncatheterswhenpracticingsuctioningofthenasalcavity,

attachtheacrylicboardforthesideofthefaceasshownbelowbeforethestartoftraining.

Note:Ensurethattheacrylicboardforthesideofthefaceisfacinginthecorrectdirection.

Note:Useasuctioncatheterthatis12–16Fr.
