KONKA R8A – FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
Q1. How do I insert the sim card into my Konka phone?
To insert the sim card, you need to use the silver sim ejector tool / pin provided in the box. The sim tray is
located on the silver frame, towards the top right of the device. Place the tool directly into the hole / space
provided and press with enough force to just pry open the tray. It will eject completely. You need to use your
fingers to then remove the tray. The tray will come out upside down, it must go back in the same way. It is
best to now flip your phone so the display is facing down. The tray is clearly labelled. Your sim card, goes into
the slot that says SIM. Your SD memory card goes into the side that says TF CARD. Once both or one of them
are in the tray, slide the tray into the phone. If you flipped the phone as mentioned, the tray can be inserted
face up.
Q2. How do I turn the device on and off?
To turn the device on, simply hold down the power button, which is located to the top left of the phone, on
the outer frame. Please note that this is the smaller button, the other one is the volume keys. Use this same
button to power off the device. Be aware that when you hold it down to power off, you do then need to press
the power off icon that appears next to restart.
Q3. How can I factory reset my Konka phone?
Before you proceed – remember to back up all personal data (photos, videos, contacts etc.…) – these will be
lost when the device is reset. To reset your device, click on the applications icon (looks like the number 6 on a
regular dice) to bring the applications menu to the display. Scroll up on the screen and now single tap on
settings (bottom left). Scroll down again to the bottom of the settings screen and single tap on the backup
and reset setting. Click on factory data reset followed by reset phone. To finalize the reset, click on erase
everything. The phone will now completely re-boot, this can take quite a few minutes.
Q4. Can I adjust the in-call volume?
If you feel you cannot hear the individual on the other end very well, you can alter this setting, to improve
volume. You need to be in an active call to do this, so please make sure you make a phone call first. During the
call, all you need to do is use the increase/decrease volume keys on the left hand side of the device. The top
half of the button increases the volume, whereas the bottom half decreases the volume.
Q5. What are all the small icons on my screen during a phone call?
There are 5 icons. From left to right, they are the following; loudspeaker, mute, Dialpad, on hold and
recording/conference call. The loudspeaker puts the phone into hands free mode, the mute button will just
mute your voice, not the person on the other end, the Dialpad will let you go back to the rest of the phone, so
you can look at messages and other items, the pause/on hold button will put the person on the other end on
hold and finally, the recording / conference dots will allow you to either add a number to make a conference
call and record the conversation.

Q6. How do I turn talkback on so the phone talks to me when I press on buttons?
To turn this function on, head to the applications menu by pressing the icon directly above the home button
(looks like a number 6 on a dice). Now scroll down and single tap on settings. Scroll down further and single
tap on accessibility. Now select the talk back setting. Please read all the instructions – as this will tell you

settings.
Q7. How do I save a photo that I sent as an attachment via SMS?
To save a photo. Open the message. Long press on the photo itself and small settings menu will appear. Single

multiple attachments, you can select more than one via this menu. Once selected, simply press OK and you
will get a pop up that says attachment saved.
Q8. Why won’t my phone unlock?
