1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 About this manual
This manual contains the information necessary for installing and maintaining the Kongsberg
AIS 200 Automatic Identification System.
In this manual, references to buttons on the control unit are written in boldface, and in a
different text style (e.g. VIEW button, SHIFT button, ENTER button).
This manual is organised into the following chapters:
Chapter 1 Introduction - A brief presentation of the Installation Manual with references
and abbreviations.
Chapter 2 Technical specifications - Specifications for the system and for all separate
units in the AIS 200 system.
Chapter 3 Installation - Reference guide for correct installation of the AIS 200 system.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital
device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable
protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a marine and/or
commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency
energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause
harmful interference to radio communications. The equipment is not inteded for operation in a
residential area. Operation in such an area is likely to cause harmful interference in which
case the user will be required to correct the interference at his own expense.

2. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
2.1 Health, environment and safety
Operation or troubleshooting of Kongsberg AIS 200 equipment will not imply any risk for
high voltages, explosions or exposure to gas. The AIS 200 is compliant with IEC
60950/EN60950 standards regarding product safety (low voltage) and IEC 60945/EN60945
standards on electromagnetic compatibility (immunity/radiation), vibration and climatic
conditions.
2.2 Restrictions in guarantee
The liability of the manufacturer is limited to repair of the AIS 200 only, and excludes
consequential damages such as customer's loss of profit or damage to other systems traceable
back to AIS 200 malfunction. The warranty does not cover malfunctions of the AIS 200
resulting from the following conditions:
a) The customer has opened the Mobile Unit
b) Over-voltage or incorrect power connection
