DISCLOSURE
This booklet is to serve as a quick reference for trained users of
the Laerdal SimMan 3G manikin. The information in this booklet is
taken from Laerdal website (www.laerdal.com/au/) and based on
our experience.
Please note TCEN or TSC does not take any responsibility for any
damage caused to your manikin. It is the sole responsibility of the
owner and this booklet is to be used as a guide only.

CONNECTION
1. Turn on SimView (if available)
2. Turn on SimMan 3G as shown below

Note:
The startup process (after step 2. C) will take 2-3 minutes.
SimMan needs to be breathing & blinking before proceeding to the next step

SHUTDOWN
1. Logout from SimView
2. Turn off Instructor PC/Laptop
3. Turn off Patient Monitor Laptop
4. Turn off SimMan 3G as shown below

Ensure SimMan’s eyes are closed

Press the power button and wait
30 seconds.
The power cord can remain connected and power supply turned on for charging SimMan
Left click the “Main Setup” button
on the patient monitor screen
Select “Shutdown Monitor”, and
then “Really Shutdown”

IV overflow outlet
DAILY MAINTENANCE
The following preventive measures are required to ensure longevity of
the SimMan3G Patient Simulator.
IV Arm
The IV fluid system is an open system on the right arm only. IV fluids
must be drained as they are administered and we suggest you use a
general 2L drainage bag.
Before each IV use attach a drainage bag to the IV overflow outlet
under the Patient Simulator’s right arm

During the simulation the fluid will drain into the drainage bag.
After the simulation session flush the IV Arm with air to remove any
fluid/liquid in the system. Connect a syringe filled with air to the IV
catheter, and flush the IV Arm with air until only air exits the overflow
tube.
Fluid System
After each session where the fluid system has been used, drain the
internal fluid reservoir. See: Empty Internal Fluid Reservoir
Blood System
When the day’s sessions are done, flush the Blood System with distilled
or de-ionized water, with the wounds connected. This is to remove
remains of Laerdal blood in the Blood System, and prevent clogging of
valves and tubing.
Power off the Patient Simulator and PCs
Charge batteries if necessary.
Clean the Skin
Wipe the skin with a moist cloth to remove stains. Remove wet
clothes or linens. Glue residue from the wound module tapes may be
removed with a moist cloth.
