2.2 Operator of the Delta stairlift
At least one responsible person must be appointed for each stair lift; this person must be easily
accessible during the operating time of the installation. The installation must be maintained in a safe
condition. If the installation is found to be unsafe, it must be taken out of service immediately;
accidents must be reported immediately to the expert (lift inspector) or the manufacturer. The
person in charge must ensure on a weekly basis that there are no defects that are obviously
dangerous to operation and that the tasks listed in the chapter "Duties of the stairlift operator" are
carefully performed.
2.3 User group
Only specially instructed persons are to use the Delta stairlift and must take responsibility for all
others who are present.
Users who are not able to fulfil these requests, as well as children, need an attendant person who
takes responsibility over the user.
2.4 Installation area
Delta lifts can be mounted on staircases and ramps. The lift, however, is not designed for use in
unusual areas (like areas in danger of explosion, areas surrounded by aggressive chemical
substances, …). Outdoor use is possible, but the parts must remain clear of ice and snow in winter.
2.5 Qualified workers
Installation, maintenance, repairs, and checks must be carried out by qualified persons, preferably
by partner companies authorized by Lehner Lifttechnik.
2.6 Decommissioning
If the system is taken out of operation for cleaning, maintenance, or repair work, it must be protected
against unintentional movements. The key switches on the controls must be switched off and the
keys removed.
2.7 Duty cycle
The Delta stairlift was constructed for being 4 minutes in motion per 10 minutes. In case that the
stairlift is permanently in operation, the motor could get too warm and become defective.
2.8 Keys
Keys should be kept in a safe place, away from those who are not to use the lift. Remove the key
from the control when it is not in use.

3OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE DELTA
3.1 Safety devices
The Delta platform lift is equipped with the following safety devices:
3.1.1 Platform barriers and ramps
The barriers and ramps, which must be closed (horizontally) or folded up during the drive, prevent
a fall forward or backward. These always open automatically at the stops if the travel command is
pressed.
3.1.2 Safety bottom
The safety bottom is attached to the underside of the platform and serves as additional safety. It
reacts to pressure so that the system stops immediately if the safety bottom hits an obstacle. The
travel command in upward direction remains active.
3.1.3 Lateral contact bars
Contact bars are fitted to the side of the platform wall to prevent jamming in the direction of travel.
The travel command in the opposite direction remains active.
3.1.4 Overload device
The platform is equipped with an overload device. If the load capacity indicated on the type plate is
exceeded by more than 25%, an overload switch switches off the system and an acoustic signal
sounds as well as the overload indicator on the platform display. In this condition, it is not possible
to drive on.
The platform must never be overloaded. If an overload is signalled, the loading must be
reduced immediately.
3.1.5 Emergency stop
The Delta platform lift is equipped with an emergency stop button. If you need to stop the platform
in an emergency, press the red button and the lift stops. Unlocking is done by pressing it again or
turning it clockwise.
3.1.6 Alarm button
The platform is equipped with an alarm button to summon help. By pressing the alarm button, a
loud emergency signal sounds.
3.1.7 Overspeed governor and safety gear
The Delta platform lift is equipped with a speed limiter and a safety catch. If the platform moves
downwards at an increased speed (e.g., due to a defect or similar), the increased speed is
immediately detected by the overspeed governor and the safety gear is triggered. The safety gear
brings the platform to a standstill by holding it on the rails. This prevents the platform from falling.

4OPERATION
4.1 Main power switch
The main power switch is located at the left side wall of the carriage and connects
the plant to the batteries. For use of the lift, first turn on the main power switch. By
switching off the main power switch, the lift cannot be used anymore (also not
through the wall controls). If the main power switch and the key switch are switched
on, the green lamp on top of the carriage is shining.
After the main power switch is turned off, the recharger is still under voltage. Before work
is done to the stairlift the power supply to the customer provided distribution box has to
be interrupted.
Before operating the lift, ensure that the platform area is clear.
4.2 Operating elements on the platform
The platform is equipped with a handheld controller on the spiral cable as standard. This allows an
ergonomic sitting position while operating the platform.
On the handset are the travel buttons, an emergency stops and an audio alarm button. The handset
is only used to drive the open platform and to open and close the barriers.
Alternatively, or additionally, operating elements can also be attached at the top of the platform side
wall.

Delta | User handbook Version 07/2022 page 11
4.3 Using the remote control
The remote controls must be activated with the key switch before operation of
the lift.
The remote control is used for calling and sending the platform as well as for
folding and unfolding it.
A green light is flashing by correct use. The remote control is working with 9 V
batteries. The battery life is approx. 1 year.

5BATTERY CHARGE SYSTEM
The motor of the Delta stairlift is powered by batteries, which are reloaded by a charger. The
recharging occurs in the upper and lower stop positions by recharge contacts. As a consequence, if
the Delta is not in use, it is important that it is parked in the stop positions.
To avoid an unintentional parking outside of the stop position an acoustic warn signal is installed.
5.1 The beeper
If the platform is not in the stop position after 5 minutes after use, the beeper gives signals
every second. If so, please bring the platform in the stop positions.
If the lift is parked in the stop position and the beeper still gives signals, the recharge
does not work. In this case, please turn off the main power switch of the lift and check if
there are power outs in the building or if a fuse is not working properly. If any such errors
are corrected and the beeper is still giving signals, please contact the service company. It
is possible that either the batteries or the recharger is defect.
If the battery voltage is too weak for normal drive operation, the beeper gives signals
every 2.5 seconds. In this case, please bring the carriage in the stop position to recharge
the batteries. If the signal does not stop after recharging, the batteries might be defect
and have to be changed by the service company. In the case of weak batteries, the
electrical control system is programmed in a way that the carriage always reaches the
lower stop position with the remaining battery voltage.

6OPERATING THE PLATFORM
The Delta stairlift is safe and easy to use. The operation is adapted to the disabled user in the best
possible way.
Please refer to the schematic drawings above for a better understanding of the described stairlift
parts.
6.1 Calling the platform
The installations with automatic platform are equipped with call stations with which the lift can be
called and sent, and the platform can be opened and closed. The call stations are in the area of the
stops.
If the platform is not at the stop you are at, it can be called from the call station if it is folded:
Switch on the call station by inserting the key and turning it. The green lamp now lights up. Press
the drive command button "Up" or "Down", the platform will drive in the corresponding direction as
long as the button remains pressed.
When a travel command switch is pressed, the platform moves in the corresponding direction as
long as the button remains pressed.
The lift can only be controlled from the stops when the platform is folded up. If the
platform is folded down, please first press the FOLDING button and completely fold up
the platform.
The vehicle stops automatically at the landing stations. To get on, the platform is folded down by
pressing the "UNFOLD" button on the call point. The button is held until the platform is horizontal
and the barrier has opened completely.
Switch the call station off again by turning the key to the "OFF" position and removing it.
6.2 Driving onto the platform
If the platform and the barrier are open as described in the previous point, you can drive onto the
platform. The wheelchair must be braked before traveling with the platform.
Always look in the direction of travel while driving and brake the wheelchair!

Delta | User handbook Version 07/2022 page 15
6.3 Driving with the platform
On the platform there is the handset control on a spiral cable with the drive command buttons, as
well as an audio alarm button and an emergency stop button.
If the passenger is on the vehicle as instructed, the drive command can be given by pressing the
travel command switch for the desired direction.
As soon as you press the desired driving direction with the drive command switch, the folding barrier
closes automatically and the drive-up ramp folds up. After the barrier is closed and locked, the
platform starts moving in the desired direction.
Hold the drive command button until you reach the desired stop.
The platform stops automatically at the stop and the folding barrier is opened if the drive command
button remains pressed.
The stairlift will also stop if the access ramps hit an obstacle.
If you release the drive command switch while driving, the vehicle stops immediately. If the vehicle
does not stop when the drive command switch is released, an emergency stop (red button) has
been installed for additional safety. If this emergency stop is pressed, the system stops immediately.
The emergency stop button is unlocked again by pressing it again or turning it clockwise.
6.4 Leaving the platform
The lift stops automatically at the desired stop. By constantly pressing the drive command switch,
the barrier arm opens and the drive-up ramp lowers. When the barrier arm is fully open, the drive
command switch must be released.
You can now leave the platform.
After leaving the platform, you have to activate the call station in your landing station by inserting
and turning the key. Press the "FOLD" operating button until the platform and the folding barrier
are completely folded. Switch the call point off again by turning the key to the "OFF" position and
removing it.
The platform has to be folded to release the stairlift for other users.
Thus, the call station become active again and the lift can be sent or called to a desired location.
To prevent unauthorised use of the lift, you should always remove the key switch in the
call stations after using the lift.
