Basic Overview
DIGICAT Start Up Test
This is best done in an area free of underground services. Hold the
DIGICAT vertically upright press and hold the yellow on/off trigger. The follow-
ing test sequence will take place.
ON TEST TEST PATTERN
Audio Output On throughout test sequence
Meter display LED’s scroll through in sequence (once)
Mode selection indicator LED’s scroll through in sequence
Battery low indicator Illuminated throughout test sequence
The unit will automatically select Power
mode and maximum sensitivity.
Walk into the area in which you wish
to search for underground services.
Ensure that the DIGICAT is held in an
upright position and as close to the
ground as possible. Sweep across
the area with the DIGICAT taking care
not to swing it - i.e. keep it vertically
upright and perpendicular to the
ground. In the presence of a live
electrical conductor (underground
service) a tone will be emitted and the
meter display will rise and fall as you
pass over the service.
The service is directly below the
DIGICAT when the meter display is at
its maximum reading.
The meter display does not
indicate the size depth or
electrical power strength of a
service.
Defining the exact position of an
unknown underground service is not
generally required. However if
greater accuracy is required use the
pinpoint method – detailed below.
o pinpoint the service (for greater
accuracy)
Position the DIGICAT directly over the
service. Press the up or down button
on the display panel to activate the
pinpoint facility. A second flashing
LED will be displayed below the
present meter display level. An au-
dible response will be emitted when
the constant meter display is above
the flashing LED. The up or down
buttons can be used to re-position the
flashing LED to give the required
audible response over the service.
