INSTALLATION
PRECAUTIONS
Choose the mountinglocation carefully so that the unitwill not
interfere with thenormal driving functionsof the driver.
Avoid installing the unitwhere it wouldbe subject tohigh tempe-
ratures, such asfrom direct sunlightor hot airfrom the heater,
or where itwould be subjectto dust, dirtor excessive vibration.
Use only thesupplied mounting hardwarefor a safeand secure
installation.
Be sure toremove the frontpanel before installingthe unit.
Mounting angle adjustment
Adjust the mountingangle to lessthan 30.
MOUNTING EXAMPLE

Detaching and attachingthe front panel
The front panelof this unitcan be detachedin order toprevent the
unit from beingstolen.
DETACHING THE FRONT PANEL
Before detaching thefront panel,be suretopress the PWRbutton to
turn off the unit first.
Then press thebutton and detachthe panel bypulling it towardsyou
as illustrated.
Note: Be surenot to dropthe panel whendetaching it fromthe unit.
ATTACHING THE FRONTPANEL
Make sure thefront panel isthe right wayup when attachingit to the
unit as itcannot be attachedupside down. Bringside B ofpanel to
side Aof main unit.Insetthe panel inand push untilit clicks.
Panel is attached.
Notes:
Do not pressthe front panelhard against theunit when attach-
ing it. Itcan be easilyattached by pressingit lightly againstthe unit.
When you carrythe front panelwith you, putit in thesupplied
front panel case.
Do not presshard or give excessive pressure tothe display
window of thefront panel whenattaching it tothe unit.

FUSE REPLACEMENT
If the fuseblows, check thepower connection andreplace the fuse.
IF the fuseblows again afterthe replacement, theremay be aninte
rnal malfunction. Inthis case, consultyour near estrepairing center.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. POWER ON/OFF
By pressing thiskey(1), the unitis switched onand off.
This unit isturned on bypressing any key.
2. SELECT(SEL)
3. VOLUME KNOB
Rotate Volumeup/down knob tocontrol the VOLUMEto select oth-
er functions, pressthe SEL(2) buttonshortly until thedesired func-
tions is shownon the display. Figure 1shows how controlfunctions
are selected usingthe SELbutton.

TASEEK mode:
When newly turned station does not receive TP information for 5
sec, the radioretunes to nextstation which hasnot the same stati
on(PI) as thelast station, buthas the TP informa tion.In TA seekmo
de,the current stationcan be changedto the completelydifferent st
ation because theunit searches TP station when the fieldstrength
of the currentstation is veryweak, or thecurrent station hasno TP
signal.
-TAALARM mode:
Any automatic retunemode is notactivated, just canbe heard Beep
sound.
PI MUTE/PI SOUND
When press theSEL button for more than2 seconds, itis activated
as selecting modeof these function.
RETUNE L/S
When press theSEL button for more than2 seconds, itis activated

USING THE RDSFUNCTION
What is RDS?
The RDS (RadioData System) isa digital informationsystem deve-
loped by theEBU(European Broadcast Union).Piggy-backed on n-
ormal FM broadcasts, RDS offersa variety ofinformation services
and automatic retuningfunctions for RDS-compatible car stereos.
In1988, RDS becameavailable in theUnited Kingdom,France,West
Germany, Ireland and Sweden. Test transmissions arebeing con-
ducted in manyother European countries. It is expectedthat RDS
will be availablein most western European countries inthe near fu-
ture.
5. AF/REGfunction (ALTERNATIVE FREQUENCIES)
When press short,AF/REG switchingmode is selected.
When AF/REGswitching mode isselected, the radiochecks the
signal strength ofthe AFall the time.When press long,it is activa-
ted as regionalmode ON/OFF.
-Regional mode ON:
AF switchingor PI SEEKis implemented tothe station whichhave
all PI codessame as currentstation. REG segmentis turned onin
LCD display.
-Regional mode OFF
The regional code in theformat of PIcode is ignoredwhen AFswi-
tching or PISEEK is implemented.
6. TA function(TRAFFIC ANNOUNCEMENT)
When press short,it is activatedas TA modeon or off.
When TA modeis on andtraffic announcement is transmitted.

-When the unitis in CD/MP3mode, it willswitch to radiomode
temporarily.
-If the volumelevel was underthe threshold point,it will beraised
to the thresholdpoint.
-When TPstation is received,TPsegment is turned on in LCDdis-
play.
7. PTY function (PROGRAM TYPE)
PTY MUSIC---PTYSPEECH---PTY OFF
While selecting PTYtype, its selectionis impremented bypre-
set buttons asdescribed in preset key. When PTYis selected, the
radio starts tosearch corresponing PTYinformation,and stops ifthe
corresponding PTY information is detected.
8. DISPLAY(DSP)
When this keyis pressed itis operated asthe conversion of
each display modeas follow.
1) Incase ofreceiving RDS station
RADIO MODE PS---CT---FREQ---PTY
CD/MP3 PLAYER MODE CDP---CT---PS---FREQ---PTY
2) In caseof receiving NON RDS station
RADIO MODE CLOCK---FREQ---NO PTY
CD/MP3 PLAYER MODE CDP---CT---FREQ---NO PTY
Each display timeis several seconds, and come backto 1st position
after several seconds.

9. MODE BUTTON(MOD)
By pressing thiskey, user can select.
RADIO mode orCD/MP3 PLAYER mode.
10. BAND /ENTERBUTTON(BND/LUD)
Each band istoggled cyclically bypressing this key FM1-FM2-
FM3. Press Loudness button shortly to increase Bass andTreble
effects at low volume level.LOUD appears inthe display.
11.12.AUTOMATIC OR MANUAL TUNING(FREQ UP OR FREQ
DOWN )
(A) RADIO MODE
When press short,these keys areoperated as MANUALtuning
mode.
When press longerthan 1 sec.,they are operatedas SEEK tuni
ng mode.
(B) CD/MP3 PLAYER MODE
When press short,they are operatedasTRACKUP/DOWN mode.
When press longerthan 1 secretary., they areoperated as CUE
or REVIEW mode.

13. AUTOSEEK SEARCH TUNING(A/PS)
By pressing shortly, the radio searches for eachpreset station.
When field strengthlevel is biggerthan the thresholdlevel of
stop level, theradio is holdingat that presetnumber for 5sec.
With releasing mute,and then searchesagain.
By pressing longerthan 1 sec,and then 6 strongest stations are
preset to thecorresponding preset number.
When ASoperation is finished,the radio executesthe preset scan.
14. LCD DISPLAY
The liquid CrystalDisplay will displaythe current stateof the unit.
15. PANEL RELEASEBUTTON
Press this buttonand the left-handpart of thepanel will bereleased.

FORWARDAND REVERSE TRACK SEARCH(or changingsongs)
Press the SKIPbutton( TUN or TUN ) during playto go to
the desired track(song).
TUN ...REVERSE TUN ...FORWARD
Press and holdthe SKIP button( TUN or TUN ) during play
to scan thedisc at highspeed. When thedesired music sectionof the
disc is found,releasethe button. Normalplay will resume.WhenCD/
MP3 play isfinished, CD/MP3 modeautomatically changes toradio
mode.

again to resume play.
19. INTRO BUTTON(Preview all Tracks)
When this button(19) is pressed,INT indication is displayed and
the first severalseconds of eachtrack of thedisc are played.
Press again tostop intro andlisten to track.
20. REPEAT BUTTON(RPT)
When this buttonis pressed, RPTindication is displayedand play of
the selected trackwill be continuallyrepeated until theTrack Repeat
mode is cancelledby pressing RPTbutton (20) again.
21. RANDOM BUTTON (RDM)
When this buttonis pressed, RDM indication is displayedand each
track of thedisc are playedin random insteadofnormal progression.
Tocancel RANDOM mode,press RDM button(21) again.
