MAIN SWITCH
The main switch is l cated n the access panel t the electrical b x f the utd r unit.
The main switch is equipped with a clutch gadget, which all ws pening the panel f the electrical b x, when it is
n OFF p siti n.
Verify that the main switch is large en ugh t handle the current f r the unit if electric heaters are installed.
PHASE SEQUENCER
The phase sequencer is l cated in the electrical b x in the utd r secti n, thus assuring that the unit will n t
begin perati n while the phase c nnecti n f the c mpress r is n t c rrect. Sh uld this ccur, then just switch
tw phase c nnecti ns.
ON/OFF CONDENSATION PRESSURE CONTROL
The c ndensati n pressure c ntr l c nsists f ne r tw pressure switches, which starts and st ps the utd r
fan, regulating the c ndensati n temperature; thus the unit will be able t perate in the c ling cycle when the
utd r temperature is bel w 19ºC (until 0ºC).
It includes crankcase heater f r c ling nly units. The purp se f the heater is t keep the il in the c mpress r
at the c rrect temperature while the c mpress r is st pped, s that it can be pr perly lubricated when starts again.
When the unit is perating at l w utd r temperatures (bel w 19ºC), it is advisable t fit a crankcase heater.
PROPORTIONAL CONDENSING PRESSURE CONTROL
It is an element which regulates utd r fan speed, in rder t c ntr l c ndensati n temperature. Thus, the unit
will be able t perate in the c ling cycles when the utd r temperature is bel w 19ºC (until -10ºC). This kit
includes crankcase heater f r c ling nly units.
COMPRESSOR STARTING CURRENT CONSTRAINED (SOFT STARTER) 400V-III
It is an electr nic element, which reduces the peak c mpress r starting current up t 40% (see pages f electrical
data with ut s ft starter).
HOT GAS BYPASS VALVE
The purp se f the BYPASS valve is t let the unit perate at l w utd r temperatures (until -10°C), t be used
in c ling nly and heat pump units in c ling cycle.
It regulates the capacity f the c mpress r by injecting h t gas fr m the c mpress r discharge side t the c il.
REMOTE AMBIENT SENSOR AND REMOTE DUCT SENSOR
These sens rs may be used in c njuncti n with rem te c ntr ller r all wing the c ntr ller t be m unted in a
r m away fr m the c nditi ned space.
REMOTE DUCT SENSOR:
The sens r will be l cated in the return-air duct, detecting the air temperature f the air being air-c nditi ned.
REMOTE AMBIENT SENSOR:
The sens r will be placed in the area t be air-c nditi ned.

CONTROL USING A PROGRAMMABLE CONTROLLER
With the pr grammable c ntr ller pti n, the desired temperature can be pr grammed in the area 24 h urs a day,
7 days a week.
CONDENSER COIL GUARD
The c ndenser c il pr tecti n grill prevents light damage t the c il when shipping and when installed.
It cann t pr tect against very heavy impacts.
PRECOATED COIL
Special pr tecti n f the aluminum c ndenser c il fins, t pr tect it fr m aggressive external envir nmental
c nditi ns.
RUBBER DAMPERS
T install under the unit t av id transmissi n f vibrati ns t the fl r where unit is installed, while unit is
perating.
COMPRESSOR ACOUSTIC JACKET
Each c mpress r is fitted with a c mpress r ac ustic jacket this pr vides attenuati n f the c mpress r n ise
that radiates fr m the unit when in perati n.
KIT LOW NOISE
With this kit, each c mpress r is fitted with a c mpress r ac ustic jacket and als includes pr p rti nal pressure
c ntr l, which thr ugh a special regulati n decreases the fan speed and pr vides attenuati n f s und level.
Regulati n used n c ling m de with utd r temperatures bel w 35ºC. See page 5 f r N ise level perf rmances.
R-407C REFRIGERANT FACTORY PRECHARGED
This pti n includes service valves and R-407C refrigerant charged in utd r unit (f r 0 meters f c nnecti n
lines).

The unit must be transp rted in a VERTICAL POSITION n its metal bedplate pr files. Any ther p siti n may
cause seri us damage t the machine. When the unit is received, it sh uld be checked t assure that there are
n bumps r ther damage, f ll wing the instructi ns n the packaging. If there is damage, the unit may be
rejected by n tifying the LENNOX Distributi n Department and rep rting why the machine is unacceptable n the
transp rt agents delivery n tice. Any later c mplaint r claim made t the LENNOX Distributi n Department, f r
this type f an maly, cann t be c nsidered under the Guarantee.
Sufficient space must be all wed t facilitate placement f the unit.
The unit may be m unted utd rs. There sh uld be NO p ssibility f fl ding if fl r m unted.
All the units have Metal Bedplate Pr files.
All INSTALLATION, SERVICE and MAINTENANCE operations
must be carried out by QUALIFIED PERSONNEL.
When positioning the unit, be sure that the Rating Plate will always be visible since this
data will be necessary to assure proper maintenance.
The units are designed t be installed with ducts, calculated by qualified technical staff. The j ints t be used
between ducts and the penings t the unit sh uld be Elastic J ints. Av id the use f BYPASS j ints between the
extracti n air and input air in b th the utd r and ind r secti ns. The structure where the unit is placed must
be able t supp rt the weight f the unit during perati n.

2.- INSTALLATION

- The bedplate is made up f metal channels, capable f with
standing the weight f the units.
- If the unit is fl r m unted, then the pr files sh uld be is lated
with sh ck abs rbing material such as anti-vibrati n r pads.
Keep in mind that fans r tate at appr ximately 850 rpm.

- If the utside temperature in the area where the heat pump unit

The unit is supplied with gas and liquid lines sealed with c pper c vers inside the casing with p ssibility t install
pipe lines (unless the unit is supplied with kit refrigerant fact ry precharged ( pti nal) r kit service valves
( pti nal)).
2.- INSTALLATION
1st Rem ve the nitr gen gas, thr ugh the high and l w 1/4 service p rts l cated inside, and make a vacuum as
security.
2nd Rem ve the c vers fr m c nnecting lines.
3rd Braze the piping c nnecti n lines. Select piping diameter TABLE 1.
(When brazing refrigerant pipes, is necessary t supply nitr gen gas thr ugh the service p rts int the pipes
t rem ve the air).
4th Leak test:
Add nitr gen gas and check 5 kg/cm2 pressure has been reached, and verify there are n t leaks in the circuit
r brazing, applying s apy water n pipes, because the leaks cause s apy water t f rm bubbles.
T detect small leaks pr ceed as f ll w:
Add nitr gen gas and check 32 kg/cm2 pressure has been reached, there is n t leak if pressure remains the
same at least during 24 h urs and final pressure is n t less than 10% fr m the initial pressure.
5th Be sure that gas line is is lated.
6th Vacuuming:
Rem ve the nitr gen gas, c nnect the gauge manif ld and vacuum pump t b th liquid and gas line, fully pen

7th Refrigerant charge:
- Check TABLE 3.1. and 3.2. t verify the am unt f refrigerant charge, depending n length and size f the
piping c nnecti ns.
- Disc nnect the vacuum pump and c nnect t the refrigerant-charging cylinder. Open the charging cylinder
and purge the air fr m the h se at the gauge manif ld.
- Set up the am unt f additi nal refrigerant n the weighing scale, pen the high pressure (liquid) and l w
pressure side (sucti n) f the gauge valve t start the pr cess f refrigerant fr m utd r unit. If the t tal
am unt f refrigerant charge have n t been reached, because balance pressure, turn ff the high side f the
gauge manif ld, turn n the unit, and add sl wly thr ugh l w side f the gauge the remain am unt f the
refrigerant charge needed. (With R-407C refrigerant, the charging cylinder must be n vertical p siti n and it
is imp rtant t charge in liquid state). Cl se the sides f gauge valve fr m service p rt f the unit, and put
the c vers n service p rts. Then the unit is ready t w rk.
During installation operations, keep gas and liquid pipes covered, in order to prevent
humidity and dirt, get into them.
Take special concern about refrigerant pipes are isolated.
Avoid collapse on lines installation.
2.5- REFRIGERANT CONNECTIONS
Standard units are supplied with Nitrogen gas, which must be removed before any operation
on the unit.
FOR STANDARD UNITS AND UNITS SUPPLIED WITH SERVICE VALVES PROCEED AS FOLLOW:
As an option, the unit can be supplied with service valves on gas and liquid lines, with
Nitrogen charge (N ) or with refrigerant (R-407C).

PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN THE USE OF R-407C Refrigerant:
R-407C Refrigerant is used in the unit; therefore, the following precautions characteristic of this gas
should be taken:
- The Vacuum Pump must have a Check Valve or Solenoid Valve.
- Pressure Gauges and Hoses for the exclusive use with R-407C Refrigerant should be used.
- The charge should be carried out in the Liquid Phase.
- Always use scales to weight-in charge
- Use the Leak Detector exclusive for R-407C Refrigerant.
- Do not use mineral oil, only synthetic oil to ream, expand or make connections.
- Keep pipes wrapped before using them and be very thorough about any possible dirt (dust, filings,
burrs, etc.).
- When there is a leak, gather what is left of the charge, create a vacuum in the unit and completely
recharge with new R-407C Refrigerant.
- Brazing should always be carried out in a nitrogen atmosphere.
- Reamers should always be well sharpened.

CHARGE OF REFRIGERANT FOR THE SET:
EXAMPLE:
T install a KNHK 32E + LEHK 32E set, with a 22m refrigerant line length between utd r and ind r unit, then
the refrigerant charge must be calculated as f ll w:
1st The TABLE 2 sh ws, that f r 22m f line length between ind r unit and utd r unit, the line sizes are, liquid
3/4", and gas 1 3/8".
2nd TABLE 2 sh ws, f r line sizes f 3/4"- 1 3/8", the charge per meter line is: 232 gr/m.
3rd TABLE 3.1. sh ws charge f refrigerant f r the set with 0m f line length is 9300 gr.
4th T determine the charge f the set:
Add charge f the refrigerant lines + charge f refrigerant ind r unit and utd r unit:
T tal charge f r the set: (232 gr/m) x 22m + 9300 gr = 14404 gr
Indoor and outdoor units are factory pre-charged with Nitrogen (N ).
The installer should remove this gas and charge the units with the refrigerant R-407C
shown on the following tables and also the charge per meter line on TABLE .

IMPORTANT
THE SHIELDED CONNECTION CABLE BETWEEN THE CONTROL PANEL AND THE UNIT
MUST BE SEPARATE FROM ANY OTHER TYPE OF ELECTRICAL WIRING.
CONNECT IT TO THE ELECTRIC BOX LOCATED IN THE OUTDOOR UNIT.
Since this type of control panel is factory-configured for each application, an identification code
located on the control plate of the terminal itself has been given to each panel.
