1General description
The professional FS Box system consists of a Master unit, which can be used by itself or in combination
with a number of 'Slaves'. It is a very complete system, enabling you to produce almost any kind of sound
you wish. Pre-programmed sounds include the crackling sound of a blaze, the hissing sound of a gas leak,
the sound of liquids leaking, and of a building in danger of collapsing. You also have the option of recording
four additional separate sounds into the memory, for example people talking or groaning or the sound of a
victim moaning or crying for help. The FS Box also provides you with the option of playing back an
additional recorded sound together with one of the standard pre-programmed sounds.
The FS Box also comes equipped with a light source based on LEDs, enabling you to create two different
lighting effects.
A 'Slave' obtains its power and sound effects from the Master. The Slave is connected to the Master or to
another Slave via a multi-core cable.
The FS Box works on mains voltage as well as on the built-in rechargeable battery. If the mains voltage is
interrupted during use, then the FS Box automatically switches over to the battery.
Whenever mains power is available, the battery is automatically charged.

Light
Depending on the scenario desired, the light can be turned on by pressing the 'LIGHT' switch. Pressing the
button a second time changes the lighting pattern. Pressing the button a third time turns the light off.
The lighting provided by a Slave can be turned on independently of the Master by pressing the Slave’s own
'LIGHT' switch.
Sound
The sound can be turned on or off using the 'ON/OFF' switch. After the sound is turned on, you can choose
from various sounds. Using the controls beneath the selection lights, you can then select the sound to be
played back.
The pre-programmed sounds are continuously repeated every 7.5 seconds. The additional sounds
recorded by the user can last for a maximum of 10 seconds and are also continuously repeated. After you
press the relevant selection switch, the sound will switch to the new sound selected only after the previous
sound bite has finished.
You can adjust the volume using the 'VOLUME' controls. The box stores the volume setting selected even
after it is turned off.
At each Slave unit, you can choose whether to play back a pre-programmed sound and/or a user recorded
sound. The Slave produces the same sound as the Master, but each Slave has its own volume controls. If
the sound is turned on at the Master unit, but none of the pre-programmed or user recorded sounds has
been selected, then the 'fire' and 'record 1' sounds are still available for the Slaves.
Recording
Turn on the sound by pressing the ON/OFF switch.
Select the sound channel you wish to record on (1, 2, 3 or 4; the relevant lamp will light up). Then press the
'RECORD' switch. The red lamp next to the record switch will blink twice and will then light up for as long
as you continue pressing the 'RECORD' switch. Recording will begin when the lamp is lit up continuously
and will continue as long as you keep pressing the switch, with a maximum time of 10 seconds. You can
then record your message in the microphone located at the upper left.
When you record a new sound, the previous one will automatically be overwritten..
3Slave
An FS Box Slave obtains its power and sound signal from the Master. To that end, a Slave is connected
to a Master or to another Slave connected to the Master via a special cable.
For each Slave, you can choose whether a pre-programmed or user recorded signal will be played back.
The Slaves produces the same sound as the Master. If the sound is turned on at the Master unit, but
none of the pre-programmed or user recorded sounds has been selected, then the 'fire' and 'record 1'
sounds are still available for the Slaves. Each Slave has its own volume controls. The volume is adjusted
using the 'VOLUME' control. The volume setting is stored even after the unit is turned off.
Depending on the scenario desired, the lighting can be turned on at the Slave itself by pushing the
'LIGHT' switch. If you push the switch a second time, then the light pattern will change. If you push it
again, then the lighting will be turned off.

4Power
Mains power
The FS Box can work on mains power (230 volts) or on the built-in battery. If it is connected to mains power
and the mains power switch is turned on, then the '230V' signal lamp will light up. The FS Box will then
operate on mains power, and the battery will also be charged.
The signal lamp 'Charging' is then lit up, or if the battery is completely charged, then the signal lamp 'Full'
will light up.
If the signal lamp 'Empty' lights up, then the battery is almost empty, and the FS Box should be connected
to the mains power as soon as possible in order to recharge the battery.
Attention: the FS- BOX should be connected only to a grounded wall socket.
Battery
The battery used in the FS Box is a so-called closed, gas-tight lead battery. This type of battery is often
used for applications such as alarm installations and may be charged or discharged in any position. The
lifetime of this type of battery is 3 to 5 years, and it can be completely discharged about 200 to 250 times. If
it is only partially discharged, then the number of times increases proportionately.
Attention: never store an FS Box with an empty battery.
If the battery is empty, the plates may become sulphated, strongly reducing the capacity of the battery. In
actual use, you should make sure - if the FS Box battery has been completely discharged - that it is
connected to the mains power as soon as possible. If the battery has deteriorated, then the so-called
residual charging current will also increase. As a result, the signal lamp 'charging' will continue to light up
even after a long interval of charging.
Battery charging circuit
The charging circuit in the FS Box is dimensioned in such a way that one may allow it to be connected to
the mains power continually. In order to prevent damage, you should make sure that the battery is charged
at least once every month by connecting the FS Box to the mains power for about one day. If the battery is
empty after being used, then the FS Box should be connected to the mains power as quickly as possible.
Fuses
The mains power circuit in the FS Box is protected by a special slow 0.4 ampere fuse, which can withstand
the large switch-on currents that can sometimes occur when switching on the box. For protecting the power
supply of the light circuit and the slaves, a slow 3.15 ampere fuse is used.
Attention: the fuses may be replaced only by types with the proper value and characteristic!
