Power connections to this accessory are made to the two spring clips under its base. Strip
the ends of the two green-covered connecting wires if they are not already stripped. (See
Figure 2). Press down the end of each terminal clip until you can insert the ends of a wire
in the small loop which projects through the slot. (See Figure ). When you release the
spring it will lock the wire in the loop.
Connect the other ends of the wires to the transformer terminals. The vibrator-type motor
operates best in the range between 9 and 1 volts: If possible, use a variable output so
that you can adjust the voltage to suit the individual characteristics of your motor.
NOTE: The tower can be mounted on a permanent layout by wood screws passing
through the holes in the base. Don’t tighten the screws too firmly or you may dampen the
vibrating motor and hinder operation.

Access to a burnt-out lamp is gained by first removing the anemometer and wind indicator
from the shaft; then press in on the windows just below the two slots in the roof to free the
retaining claws. Lionel miniature bayonet-base Part No.00-1445- 00 lamps available from
your local Lionel Authorized Service Station or the Lionel Consumer Service Department.
SERVICE
LAMP REPLACEMENT
NOTE: After a number of hours of operation, the revolving watchman and platform
inside the Control Tower room may begin to slow down or revolve with a jerky motion.
This can be remedied by first removing the Control tower roof and platform and then
applying a light dusting of powdered graphite (available at your local hardware store
or hobby store) between the driving slug and the rubber driving washer as shown.
CONTROL TOWER LUBRICATION
This product is proudly offered by Lionel Trains, Inc. and it carries a warranty to support its continued reli-
able operation. You may choose to have the Lionel Service Department service your item even after its
warranty expires.If so, a reasonable service fee will be charged. In either event, please follow the direc-
tions below.
If service is required within the warranty period, bring the item to the nearest authorized Lionel Trains-
Service Center along with the warranty card. If you prefer to send it back to the factory, you must first
write to Customer Service, P.O. Box 748 New Baltimore, MI 48047-0748 stating what the item is, when it
was purchased and what seems to be the problem. You will be sent a return authorization and a label to
assure your merchandise will be properly handled upon receipt.
CAUTION: Make sure the item is packed so as to prevent damage to the merchandise. The shipment
must be prepaid and we recommend that it be insured.
Please make sure you have followed the instructions carefully before returning any merchandise for ser-
vice. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may have others that vary from state to state.
