Description
The Fit-N-Frame Border Guide has
been designed to provide an easy and
accurate method for sizing the mat
board and positioning the image into
square and rectangle picture frames.
The Fit-N-Frame Border Guide has
two uses. First, use the Fit-N-Frame
Border Guide to accurately size your
mat board to fit into any square or
rectangle frame (Up To a 24” x 28” /
61cm x 71cm frame). Second, quickly
center your artwork within the mat for
perfect borders on every side. No
cumbersome math or fractions!

border guide for a perfect custom fit.

Identification
1. Sizing Tool (Fig. 1)
a) Arm – Holds sliding alignment triangles
b) Alignment Triangles - Two alignment triangles
which rotate on the sizing arm.
Measurements are printed in 1/4” = 1/8”
(6mm = 3mm) on the Border Grid scale.
c) Adjustment Knobs - Two adjustment knobs are
used to tighten and loosen the adjustable
triangles, allowing them to slide along
the rod.
2. Border Guide (Fig. 2) – white measurement grid
and an alignment corner stop on the underside.

Sizing the Mat Board to the Frame
Step 1 - Loosen the adjustment knobs on both the
alignment triangles and slide triangle A into
the lower left hand corner of the frame taking
care to make sure the edges of the alignment
triangle fit snuggly into the corner of the
frame. Tighten knob until secure (do not over
tighten). (Fig. 3).
Step 2 - Slide Triangle B into the upper right hand
corner of the frame making sure that it also
fits snuggly into place. Tighten knob until
secure. (Fig. 4).

Sizing the Mat Board to the Frame (continued)
Step 3 – Remove the sizing tool from the frame
making sure the position of each
Triangle does not change. Place Fit-N-
Frame Border Guide on the back of the
mat board by aligning Triangle A with
the bottom left hand corner of the
board. (Fig. 5)
(NOTE – THE MAT BOARD MUST BE
SQUARE OR YOUR FINISHED MAT MAY
NOT FIT PROPERLY).
Step 4 – Next draw a line within the two short
recesses of Triangle B. These lines
are the outside dimensions of the
mat. (Fig. 5)
Step 5 – Using your Logan Mat Cutter and the
Logan 701 Straight Cutter, cut the mat
board on the lines drawn in Step 4.

You should now have a piece of sized mat board that
fits perfectly into the back of the frame to be used.

Centering the Image
Step 1 – Loosen the adjustment knobs on both
the alignment triangles and slide
Triangle A into the lower left hand
corner of the image to be framed and
tighten knob. (Fig. 7)
(* Note: You are working on the image
surface so make sure that your hands
and the tool are free of any dirt that
could be deposited onto the image).
Step 2 – Slide Triangle B to the upper right hand
corner of the image and tighten knob.
Place both Triangles so that the
corners rest where you would like the
mat board to begin. Anything inside of
the two Triangles will be exposed.
Step 3 – Working from the back of your mat
board place the Border Guide in the
upper right hand corner of the board.
Border Guide has a built in 90 degree
edge that will locate the Border Guide
onto the corner of the Mat Board
ensuring accuracy. (Fig. 8)
(*Note make sure that you are
orienting the frame, board and image
in the same direction).

Centering the Image (continued)
Step 4 – Place the Fit-N-Frame Border Guide on
the board and align Triangle A with the
lower left hand corner. The upper right
Triangle B now rests on top of the
Border Grid.
Step 5 – For the left and right borders on your
mat board, trace the vertical edge of
Triangle B to the scale along the top of
the Border Guide. Write down this
measurement. (Fig.9)
Step 6 – For the top and bottom borders trace
the horizontal edge of Triangle B to the
scale on the right side of the Border
Guide. Write down this measurement.
*Note the scale on the Border Guide
is 1”=1/2”. Simply read the scale
measurements as they are indicated
on the Border Guide. (Fig. 10)
Step 7 – Set up your Logan Mat Cutter to the
measurements recorded. First cut the
left and right borders. Re-set the mat
cutter to the second measurement (top
& bottom ) and cut the top and bottom
borders.
Congratulations! Your mat board should now fit
perfectly into your frame and the opening for the
image should be perfectly centered in the picture.

Helpful Hints and Extras
With certain types of images you may want more of
the original material to show. Or, you may want
unequal amounts of spacing around the image. This
can be done by placing Triangle A on the bottom cor-
ner of the image and using a line on Triangle B . These
spacer lines are divided in 1/4” = 1/8” (6mm = 3mm)
increments. Follow the steps in Centering the Image
above except instead of aligning the outside edge of
Triangle B with the image, align the appropriate
spacer line with the image. Now complete the steps
as directed. This will give you the effect of adding
more or less border as desired around the image.

If you want to do double matting (2 or more mat
boards stacked in small steps), you would size two
mats as described in STEP 1, Sizing the Mat Board to
the Frame on Page 2. You then measure the second
mat exactly the same way, except that you would
choose one of the spacer lines on Triangle B. Cut the
opening in the second mat first as you would when
centering the image in the mat. (Fig. 12)
Now you need to cut the top/face mat using the out-
side edge of Triangle B measurements, without mov-
ing the triangle and write down the measurements
from the Border Grid using the outside edges of the
Triangle B. (Fig. 13)
This would then automatically create an additional
border width half the size of the line space you chose
on Triangle B. When the 2 mats are placed in the
frame you have a perfect “double”!

Beschreibung
Mit dem Fit-N-Frame Border Guide können Passepartoutkartons
einfach und genau abgemessen und Bilder in quadratischen
oder rechteckigen Bilderrahmen positioniert werden. Der Fit-N-
Frame Border Guide wird auf zwei Arten eingesetzt. Messen Sie
zunächst anhand des Fit-N-Frame Border Guide den
Passepartoutkartonentsprechend Ihrem quadratischen oder
rechteckigen Rahmen ab (Rahmengrößebis max. 60 x70 cm).
Wenn Sie dann das Bild auf dem Passepartoutkartonzentrieren,
stimmt die Randgrößeauf allen Seiten. Sie sparen sich
Gleichungen und Bruchrechnung! Um den Kartongenau
abzumessen, verwenden Sie einfach die beigefügte
Führungsstange und die Randschablone.

Étape 1–Desserrez les molettes de réglage
des deux triangles d’alignement et glissez le
triangle Adans l’angle inférieur gauche du
cadre en prenant soin que les bords du tri-
angle d’alignement s’adaptent bien dans
l’angle du cadre. Serrez fermement la
molette(mais sans excès). (Fig. 3).
Étape 2 –Glissez le triangle Bdans l’angle
supérieur droit du cadre en s’assurant qu’il
se loge bien en place. Serrez fermement la
molette. (Fig. 4).

Étape 3–Retirez l'outil de dimensionnement
du cadre et assurez-vous que la positionde
chaque triangle n’a pas changée. Placez le
guide-bordure Fit-N-Frame au dosdu passe-
partout en alignant le triangle Asur l'angle
inférieur gauche du passe-partout. (Fig. 5)

Étape 4–Tracez ensuiteune ligne à l'in-

triangle B. Ces lignes constituent les dimen-
sions extérieures du passe-partout. (Fig. 5)
Étape 5–À l’aide du couteau à passe-
partout Logan et du couteau droit à passe-
partout Logan 701, coupez le passe-partout
le long des lignes tracées à l’étape 4. (Fig. 6)
Vous devriez avoir maintenant un passe-
partout sur mesure qui s’adapteparfaite-
ment au dosdu cadre à utiliser.

Schritt 3-Nehmen Sie das Messwerkzeug
vomRahmen und achten Sie dabei darauf,
dass die Dreiecke nicht verrutschen. Legen
Sie den Fit-N-Frame Border Guide auf die
Rückseitedes Passepartoutkartons, indem
Sie Dreieck Aauf die untere linke Ecke des
Kartons auflegen. (Abb. 5)

Sie sollten jetzt einen Passepartoutkarton
haben, der genau in den zu verwendenden
Rahmen passt. utiliser.

partout Logan en fonctiondes valeurs
mesurées. Coupez tout d’abord les bordures
gauche et droite. Réglez à nouveau le
couteau en fonctionde la deuxième mesure
(haut et bas) et coupez les bordures
supérieure et inférieure.
Félicitations ! Votre passe-partout devrait
maintenant s’adapter parfaitement au cadre
et l'ouverture pour l'image devrait être par-
faitement centrée sur elle.

Conseils utiles et extras
Il peut être préférable de montrer davantage du
matériau original avec certains types d’images. Ou
vous pouvez souhaiter des espaces inégaux autour
de l'image. Ceci est réalisable en plaçant le triangle
Adans l'angle inférieur de l'image et en utilisant
une ligne du triangle B. L’espacement de ces lignes
est à l’échelle 1/4 po =incrémentsde 1/8 po.
Reprenez les étapes de la sectionCentrage de l’im-
age ci-dessus, mais au lieu d’aligner l’arête
extérieure du triangle Bavec l’image, alignez la
ligne d’espacement appropriéeavec l’image.
Réalisez maintenant les étapes comme indiqué.
Cetteméthode vous permet de moduler l'épaisseur
de la bordure autour de l'image selonvotre goût.

Si vous souhaitez un double passe-partout (2 ou
plusieurs passe-partout empiléspar petites étapes)
: Dimensionnez deux passe-partout comme décrit à
l’étape 1, Dimensionnement du passe-partout en
fonctiondu cadre, page 2. Mesurez ensuitele deux-
ième passe-partout de la même façon, exception
faiteque vous choisirez l'une des lignes d'espace-
ment du triangle B. Découpez tout d’abord l'ouver-
ture du deuxième passe-partout comme vous le
feriez pour centrer l’image dans le passe-partout.

Découpez ensuitele passe-partout supérieur en
utilisant le bord extérieur du triangle B, sans bouger
le triangle, puis prenez notedes mesures du gabarit
de bordure en utilisant les bords extérieurs du trian-
gle B. (Fig. 13)
Ceci apour effet de créer automatiquement une
bordure supplémentaire d’une épaisseur égale à la
moitié de la ligne d’espacement choisie pour le tri-
angle B. Lorsque les deux passe-partout sont
placésdans le cadre, vous obtenez alors un « dou-
ble » parfait !

Nützliche Tipps
Bei bestimmten Bildtypen ist es ratsam, etwas mehr
Material sichtbar zu lassen. Alternativ kann auch
um das Bild herum verschieden viel Platzgelassen
werden. Legen Sie dazu Dreieck Aan der unteren
Ecke des Bildes an und ziehen Sie eine Linie zu
Dreieck B. Die Linien liegen im Abstand von1/4” =
1/8” zueinander. Befolgen Sie die Schritteunter
„Zentrieren des Bildes“, statt jedoch die
AußenkantevonDreieck Bam Bild auszurichten,
richten Sie die entsprechende Abstandslinie am
Bild aus. Führen Sie jetzt die Schrittewie
vorgegeben aus. Auf diese Weise erhalten Sie je
nach Wunsch mehr oder weniger Rand um das Bild.

Wenn Sie ein doppeltes Passepartout möchten
(zwei oder mehr leicht abgestufte
Passepartoutkartons übereinander), messen Sie
zwei Kartons, wie in Schritt 1„Abmessen des
Passepartoutkartons“ auf Seite2 beschrieben, aus.
Messen Sie dann den zweiten Kartonauf dieselbe
Art und Weise, aber wählen Sie eine der
Abstandslinien auf Dreieck Baus. Schneiden Sie
die Öffnung des zweiten Kartons zuerst aus, genau
wie Sie es fürdie Zentrierung des Bildes auf dem
Kartontun würden. (Abb. 12)
Nun schneiden Sie den oberen Kartonaus, indem
Sie die äußeren Kanteder Abmessungen für
Dreieck Bverwenden, ohne das Dreieck zu ver-
schieben, und die Wertedes Randrasters notieren,
indem Sie die Außenkanten vonDreieck Bverwen-
den. (Abb. 13)
So stellen Sie automatisch einen weiteren Rand mit
der halben Größedem auf Dreieck Bgewählten
Linienabstand her. Sobald Sie dann die beiden
Kartons in den Rahmen legen, haben Sie ein perfek-
tes „Doppel“!

Se desiderateun’incorniciatura doppia (due o più
cartoncini dispostiin modo sfalsato), dovetedimen-
sionare due passepartout come descritto nella pro-
cedura 1“Come dimensionare il cartoncino per la
cornice” apag. 2. Quindi misurare il secondo
passepartout allo stesso modo,conla differenza
che scegliereteuna delle righe spaziatrici sul trian-
golo B. Tagliatel’apertura nel secondo passepartout
come farestenella procedura di centraggio dell’im-
magine (Fig. 12).
Ora dovetetagliare la partealta/anteriore utilizzan-
do il bordo esterno della scala del triangolo B,
senza muoverlo,eannotare le misure della griglia
del bordo utilizzando ibordi esterni del triangolo B
(Fig. 13).
In questo modo si crea automaticamenteuna sec-
onda larghezza del bordo corrispondentealla metà
delle righe spaziatrici che avetescelto sul triangolo
B. Posizionando idue passepartout nella cornice
avreteun “doppio”perfetto!

Si desea realizar un panel doble (2 o máspaneles
levementeescalonados). Debe medir lospaneles
segúnse describe en el PASO 1, “Cómo medir la
placa conel marco”en la página 2. Luego mida el
segundo panel de la misma manera, excepto que
optará porlas líneas espaciadoras en el Triángulo
B. Primero,corteel orificio en el segundo panel
como lo haríaal centrar la imagen en el panel.

Ahora deberá cortar el panel superior/frontal conel
borde externo de las medidas del triángulo Bsin
mover el triángulo yanotelas medidas desde la
cuadrícula de bordes conlosbordes exteriores del
Triángulo B. (Fig. 13)
Deestamanera se creará automáticamenteun
ancho de borde adicional de la mitad del tamaño de
la línea espaciadora que eligió en el Triángulo B.
