Introduction
The Marina shower trolley is an aid which enables users to wash people who have a poor
balance when sitting under owing water, from an ergonomically sound position. Comfort
is optimal for both the occupant and for the care-provider. The Marina consists of a mobile
base frame and a height adjustable support surface with a soft mattress. The Marina is
multifunctional in its use and interfaces with other aids, such as beds, wheelchairs and
shower chairs, lifting equipment and sliding materials such as the EasySlide. The Marina is
a product with CE marking. This marking is in accordance with the 93 / 42 / EEC medical
equipment guideline.

Charging The Battery (63002350)
The Marina is an electrically driven high / low shower trolley and is battery powered.
The charging point is positioned on the transverse beam in the trolley’s base frame.
When the batteries are almost empty, the orange LED on the manual control will light up;
this shows that the batteries urgently need to be charged.
If the red LED is lit, the batteries have to be charged immediately. The trolley can then no
longer be used.
Connect the charger to the Marina.
Only use the charger originally supplied with the Marina.
When the charger is connected to the Marina, the control will be in stand-by
mode (all functions will then be switched off).
When the indication light on the charger is green, the batteries are fully charged.
The charger can remain connected once the batteries have been fully charged.
Remove the charger from the socket and disconnect the Marina.
The Marina is now ready to use.
Battery indication on the manual control
LEDs are not illuminated: the trolley is in stand-by mode and cannot be used.
Green LED is illuminated: the trolley is ready for operation
Orange LED is illuminated: the batteries have to be urgently charged (the trolley can still
be used)
Red LED is illuminated: the batteries are empty and have to be charged immediately
Comment: install the charger in a permanent place in a room that is not damp
i.e. not in a bathroom or shower room. Following use, connect the trolley to the
charger to ensure the batteries remain charged. Charge the trolley at least once a
week!

Activation / Stand-By (61002350)
Before you can use the Marina, this has to be activated by pressing the ‘up’ button for 2
seconds.
After approximately an hour, the trolley will go into stand-by mode and the battery
indication LEDs on the manual control will no longer be illuminated. To reactivate the
trolley, press the ‘up’ button for one second.
(Hydraulic) Height Adjustment (61002300)
• When the user is lying on the Marina, rst of all apply the brake of the Marina before
raising the trolley.
• The support surface can be raised by calmly and steadily pressing (by foot) the longer
part of the foot pedal.
• When moving the pedal, the care-provider’s upper body should be positioned
lengthways to the Marina, so that the care-provider is unable to twist his upper
body in relation to his feet.
• When raising the trolley, keep in physical contact with the occupant.
• By pressing (by foot) the shorter part of the pedal, the trolley will lower.

(Electric) Height Adjustment (61002350)
• To raise the Marina press the button on the remote
control which depicts the upwards arrow.
• Lower the Marina by pressing the button on the
remote control which depicts the downwards arrow.
• When the remote control is not in use, this can be
hung on the side rail or on the push bar.
• Make sure that the coiled cable of the remote control does not become trapped.
Wheel brake
• Apply the brake of the Marina
by pushing down the protruding
lip (1) on the wheel.
• To release the Marina’s brake,
push down the raised lip (2) of
the wheel.
Washing
• The user is washed in the
Marina using a hand-held
shower.
• Because the height of the
Marina can be adjusted, the
care and washing of the user is improved ergonomically for the care-provider.
• The height to which the trolley is adjusted depends on the height of the care-provider
and of the nature of the activities.
• When washing the hair, place the cushion beneath the user’s shoulders, so that his or
her head is not against the trolley, which allows the hair to be washed.
• After washing the user, the Marina can be used as a drying and dressing table. To this
end, raise the support surface of the Marina to a higher position.
Water drainage
• The water from the Marina passes to a drain via the drainage hose.
• Remove the hose from the hook and trail this to a drainage point that is positioned as
low down as possible.
• During transport always hang the hose on the hook, because of leakage and dripping.

Side rails
• The Marina is equipped with aluminium side rails that can be folded against the edge
of the support surface, so that transfers can be made.
• The side rail is tted with rail protection, preventing the occupant from lifting the side
rail independently.
• Before the side rail can be folded down, the rail protection positioned at the head end
has to be unlocked.
• Unlock the protective device by pulling the protruding lip inwards using one hand and
lifting the middle of the side rail with the other hand.
• Turn the unlocked rail outwards, so that the side of the mattress will lie horizontally.
• When the side rails are folded down, the care-provider is able to support himself
against the middle of the
mattress enabling even better
care of the occupant.
• Turn the side rail upwards to
fold up the side rail. The rail
locks automatically.
• When closing the rail, the mat-
tress ap that has been folded
down will again stand upright.
• Make sure that the corner
aps fall inwards, so that
these do not become
trapped in the rail’s locks.
Transfer from a bed
• Lock the bed’s wheels.
• Place the Marina next to the bed with the head end at the
side where the user’s head is positioned.
• Lower the bed’s side rail.
• Raise the Marina’s support surface just above the mattress
of the bed.
• Fold down the side rail.
• Slide the Marina between the head and foot end, so that
this covers as much of the bed as possible.
• Lock the Marina’s wheels.
• Go and stand at the opposite end of the bed.
• Place the EasySlide between the user and the Marina.

protection

10 | Instructions for use | Shower stretcher ‘Marina’
• Using the EasySlide, slide the user from the bed to the Marina.
• Place the Marina’s support surface a few centimetres higher.
• Close the Marina’s side rail.
• Release the brake from the Marina’s wheels.
• Remove the EasySlide.
• This transfer from the Marina to the bed is performed similarly.
Comments
• When this transfer is performed, the side of the mattress can be placed facing inwards
or outwards according to preference. When folded outwards, the advantage to the user
is that he is protected from the tube of the side rail.
• Make sure that the mattress of the shower trolley does not become trapped between
the bed and the Marina’s support surface.
Maintenance
• The Marina has to be cleaned following each use using water and normal household
cleaning agents. Do not use abrasives or other aggressive solvents (such as chlorine).
• If the Marina has to be disinfected, we recommend that you use Neoquat combi®. Do
not use an alcohol-based solution.
• For optimal and efcient cleaning of the mattress and the support surface, the mattress
can be lifted and removed.
• Remove any surplus soap residues.
• Make sure that the base on which mattress lies is dry.
• Frequently check the wheels for hair and dust and remove as appropriate.
• Make sure that the battery is charged.
• Lopital Nederland B.V. recommends that an annual maintenance contract is entered into
for the Marina.
• Maintenance and repair should only be performed by authorised personnel.

Simultaneous use with other aids
EasySlide
The EasySlide is an optimal aid for the transfer from bed to the shower trolley and vice
versa. The EasySlide requires minimum physical load and time. The EasySlide can be used
for almost all bed and chair transfers from and to the Marina.
Lifting equipment
The Marina has been designed for optimal use in combination with a lifting device. From a
support surface height of 65 cm, the shower trolley has a clearance space of 130 mm.
Wheelchair
At the Marina’s lower positions of 50-55 cm, transfer is possible from the shower trolley
to a wheelchair and vice versa. An ideal aid with this is the use of the small EasySlide and
potentially a sliding board.
Bed
The Marina is mainly used to wash users whilst they are lying down. Using an EasySlide,
users can be transferred in a lying position from any (high or low) bed to the Marina.
To do so, the Marina has to be positioned at the same height as the bed.
