HARDWARE FEATURES AND INSTALLATION
The XAP-1032 high powered access point is designed for optimal performance as
well as for simple and effi cient installation and setup. It implements two Luxul cir-
cular polarized directional antennas. For optimal performance, antennas should be
placed in a location that allows the antennas to be “pointed” towards the desired
coverage areas and in such a way that signal overlap between the two antennas is
minimal. Installation can be directly on a wall or discreetly in an attic, above ceiling
tiles or other non-public area. The XAP-1032 is ideal for use in L-shaped, multi-wing
or very large residential or commercial installations.
Front View
On the front of the XAP-1032 are 4 LEDs. LEDs indicate 1) Power, 2) LAN Link/
Activity, 3) WLAN Status and 4) Bridge Mode.

Environmental Requirements
Ethernet cable to provide Power and Data to the XAP-1032.
A computer supporting TCP/IP and equipped with a Web browser. Supported
Web browser versions include Microsoft IE 7.0 and up, Safari 1.0 and up, Mozilla
Firefox 1.0 and up, and Google Chrome 5.0 and up. The Web browser is used to
confi gure the XAP-1032.
The XAP-1032 uses 36-57VDC power. The POE injector power supply requires AC
100V ~ 240V, 50Hz ~ 60Hz.
Temperature of the operating environment: -04F~140F (-20C to 60C). Be sure to
place the access point away from heat generating devices.
Humidity of the operating environment: 5%-95% non-condensing. Do not place
the access point in an extremely dirty or damp location.
Keep the access point away from strong electromagnetic fi elds (i.e. Air
Conditioner compressors, fl uorescent light ballasts, CRT monitors/televisions,
etc.), and free from vibration, dust and direct sun light.
Hardware Installation
Access Point Placement
This XAP-1032 implements Luxul’s Circular Polarized directional antenna technology
and provides two antennas that can be used to maximize coverage area. For maxi-
mum effi ciency, antennas should be aimed towards the areas to which you would
like to provide coverage. With this in mind, the ideal placement can vary depending
on layout and desired coverage area. Some coverage/placement examples are
shown below:

Mounting the Access Point on a Wall
The XAP-1032 and the two antennas can be mounted directly to a wall or other
surface. It can also be placed on a desktop or shelf with antennas still mounting
to a wall or other surface. Once the location has been selected, mount the access
point directly to the wall or place it on a fl at surface as demonstrated below:

Now connect the antennas using the two Coax cables provided. Align the connec-
tors and turn clock-wise until fi rmly attached. DO NOT over tighten. Finally, aim
the antennas towards the desired coverage areas. Final installation should look
something like the following:
XAP-1032 with Antennas mounted above. Actual cables are longer
NOTE: If desired and optimal for placement and installation, longer
Coax cables may be used. It is recommended to keep cable
lengths as short as possible and to use low loss cable in order to
minimize cable loss. Contact Luxul for additional cable options.
CAUTION: Coax cables must be exactly the same length or the XAP-
1032 will not function properly

Connecting the Ethernet Cable
With the XAP-1032 and antennas properly mounted and installed, you can now plug
the Ethernet Cable into the RJ-45 connector.
NOTE: Category-5, super Category-5 or Category-6 unshielded twisted
pair (CAT5/CAT5e/CAT6 UTP) cables can be used. For best
results, it is recommended that Category-6 shielded twisted pair
be used to ensure stable data transmission at highest data rates.
Connecting to the Power Source
The XAP-1032 is POE ready and supports Legacy (48v 1a), 802.3af, and 802.3at
POE injectors. A POE injector is included with the device. To apply power, simply
connect the opposite end of the Ethernet cable to which the access point is
already connected to the provided POE injector or other POE switch or injector. An
Ethernet cable length of up to 300 feet can be used. DO NOT yet apply power to
the POE injector or switch.
NOTE: To ensure FCC compliance and minimize high frequency noise, a
Ferrite Noise Suppresser is included with the POE injector kit. It
should be placed on the Ethernet cable at or near the connector
on the end of the Ethernet cable that plugs into the POE device.
To install it, simply unsnap the plastic fasteners, place it on the
Ethernet cable as demonstrated below and re-snap the plastic
fasteners to secure it in place.
Connecting to the Internet Source
Note that the Luxul device is not a router and in most installations will be con-
nected to a Router or Switch in order to deliver Internet access. To do so, connect
the POE injector (or switch) to the desired Internet source using another Ethernet
cable. Be sure the source device is powered off.

Applying Power
Once the Ethernet cables have been properly connected, connect the power sup-
ply to the POE injector and plug it in to a standard AC power outlet. Or, if plugging
into a POE switch, turn the switch (or appropriate port) on. The network source
device can also now be powered back on.
NOTE: If your Internet source (Router or Switch) is a POE enabled device
and connected via POE, it can be plugged directly into the access
point without the need to run a separate POE injector.
LED Visual Verifi cation
With power applied, you can now verify that the XAP-1032 is connected and
functioning properly. Prior to placing the access point cover plate, perform a visual
inspection of the LEDs. The Green PWR LED (on the left) should be on while the
amber LAN light fl ashes, indicating activity. Once the XAP-1032 is properly con-
nected to the Internet source, the blue WLAN LED should also remain on. The
Green BRG LED at the right will only be on if the access point is set to function in
bridge mode.

CONFIGURATION
NOTE: Confi guring the Luxul AP with non-Luxul routers may require
your computer’s IP address to be changed.
The Luxul XAP-1032 default IP addresss is 192.168.0.13. If the IP
address of your router is not set to the 192.168.0.X network,
a temporary static IP address must be set on the computer
being used for confi guration. To do so, set the IP address of the
computer to the 192.168.0.X range and then use the default IP
address of your XAP-1032 (192.168.0.13) as the Gateway/Router.
Once confi gured, set the computer IP confi guration back to
“Obtain Automatically/DHCP.”
Go to http://luxul.com/how-to-videos for videos about
