Limited Lifetime Warranty
This MABIS Digital Thermometer is guaranteed to be free from manufacturing
defects for the life of the original registered purchaser under normal use.This
limited warranty does not apply to use in any clinical or commercial applications.
If the unit fails to operate during the lifetime of the original registered purchaser,
return it postage prepaid along with $5.00 for return shipping and insurance to:
MABIS Healthcare Inc., Attn: Repair Department, 28690 N. Ballard Drive, Lake
Forest, IL 60045. If MABIS Healthcare determines that the unit failed to operate
due to a manufacturing defect, the unit will be repaired or replaced at the option
of MABIS Healthcare. Repair or replacement of the unit is the sole remedy
under this limited warranty.This warranty gives you specific legal rights, which
vary from state to state. As a condition of this warranty, the enclosed warranty
registration card must be completed and sent to us within 10 days of the pur-
chase date.
This Limited Warranty constitutes MABIS Healthcare’s only responsibility and
obligation to repair and/or replace materials or components.We make no other
express or implied warranties, arising by operation of law or otherwise, or any
warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular use or purpose whether or
not the use or purpose has been disclosed to MABIS Healthcare in specifica-
tions, drawings or otherwise, and whether or not MABIS Healthcare’s products
are specifically designed and/or manufactured by MABIS Healthcare for the
buyer’s use or purposes, except for the limited warranty stated above. MABIS

Introduction
Thank you for purchasing an MABIS RapidTemp Thermometer. Please read the
following instructions to achieve the most accurate temperatures and safe opera-
tion.With proper care and use, your thermometer will provide you with many
years of reliable readings.
Your thermometer is intended for monitoring human body temperature in the
home and is appropriate for all ages. It can be used orally, rectally or under the
arm.
Readings are taken in approximately 6 seconds in Fast modes (Oral, Axillary or
Rectal) or up to 120 seconds in Standard (All Purpose) mode.

General Care & Important Information
• For accurate measurements and to prevent cross contamination, always use
a new, undamaged probe cover.
• Never use for purposes other than body temperature measurement.
• Only use under the supervision of an adult. Never leave the thermometer or
probe covers with unattended infants or children.
• Do not use if there are signs of damage to the thermometer. Do not attempt
to disassemble it, except to replace the battery.
• Protect the thermometer from severe impact.

Cleaning and Applying Probe Covers
• Before and after each use, clean the thermometer probe
(area that extends about 2” from the tip) with a soft cloth and
isopropyl alcohol diluted with water, or wash with COLD
soapy water.
• DO NOT submerse in any solution or let water penetrate the
thermometer.The unit is not waterproof/water resistant.
• Apply a disposable probe cover to the tip of a clean, dry ther-
mometer.
Changing & Selecting Modes
Your unit has 4 modes:
1) Oral
2) Axillary (under the arm)
3) Rectal
4) All Purpose
Note: Default is set at “Oral” (the “head” will flash upon first turning the unit on).

Taking a Reading
1. Clean and disinfect the thermometer according to the instructions provided.
2. Apply a disposable probe cover to the clean, dry thermometer.
3. Determine whether the measurement site will be oral, rectal or under the
arm.
4. Press the POWER button to activate.The thermometer will beep and the
digital display will show the following:
This is the LCD display test.This insures all parts of the
display are functioning properly. In approximately 2-3
seconds, the display will go blank and then show the last
recorded temperature as follows.
This display shows the last temperature reading.The
thermometer will beep with the Mode display as shown
below.
Press the MODE button to scroll through the four Modes
(Oral, Axillary, Rectal and All Purpose).
Press the POWER button to set the appropriate Mode.
Thermometer will beep and display as shown (example
of “Oral Mode”).The thermometer is ready to take a
measurement.
Oral Mode:
1. Place the probe tip under the tongue near
the heat pockets shown on the diagram,
Fig. 1. (Diagram illustrates heat pockets and
temperature variations that can occur when
the heat pocket is not used)
Note: Drinking hot or fluids, exercising,
smoking or performing other
activities may raise or lower your tempera-
ture.Therefore, it is important to relax for
approximately 5 minutes with your mouth
closed prior to taking a reading.

2. In approximately 6 seconds, peak temperature will be reached and the ther-
mometer will beep 6 times.
3. To take another reading, press the POWER button.
4. The thermometer will automatically shut off after 2 minutes of non-use.
Axillary Mode:
1. Place the probe in a clean, dry
armpit so that the probe covered
tip is touching the skin and the
thermometer is perpendicular to
the body.
2. Position the arm across the chest
so the probe tip is well covered by
the arm.
3. In approximately 6 seconds, peak temperature will be reached and the
thermometer will beep 6 times.
4. To take another reading, press the POWER button.
5. The thermometer will automatically shut off after 2 minutes of non-use.
Rectal Mode:
Note: Rectal temperatures are an appropriate
and reliable method for infants and small chil-
dren. Otherwise, this method should only be
used when it is impossible or impractical to
take an oral or axillary temperature.
1. After applying a disposable probe cover, apply a water-
soluble lubricant to the tip. Do not use petroleum jelly.
2. Gently insert the probe a MAXIMUM of 1/2” into the rec-
tum. DO NOT force insertion if there is any detected
resistance.
3. In approximately 6 seconds, peak temperature will be reached and the
thermometer will beep 6 times.
4. To take another reading, press the POWER button.
5. The thermometer will automatically shut off after 2 minutes of non-use.
All-Purpose Mode:
The All-Purpose Mode can be used at any site (oral, rectal, axillary). Or, if a
reading cannot be reached due to improper technique or operating environment,
the thermometer may automatically change to the All-Purpose Mode.
1. Place the probe in the desired location (oral, axillary, rectal) for measure-
ment. Follow the directions for the corresponding Mode.
Note: Measurements in All-Purpose Mode will take approximately 120 seconds
or longer.

Replacing the Battery
Your thermometer requires one lithium battery, type
CR2032.When the “low battery” symbol appears on the
display, Fig. 1:
1. Using a miniature Phillips
head screwdriver, remove
the bottom screw on the
back of the unit, Fig. 2.
2. Slide the battery cover off,
located on the front of the
unit, Fig. 3.
3. Using a non-metal pointed
tool, carefully remove the
battery and insert the new
battery with the positive side (+)
facing upward, Fig. 4.
4. Carefully reattach and slide the battery cap back
into place.
5. Replace the screw making sure the cover is
attached.
Please properly dispose the battery away from small
children and heat.
