Five-Year Limited Warranty
Your thermometer is guaranteed to be free of manufacturing defects for a period
of five years from the date of purchase under normal use. This limited warranty
does not apply to use in any clinical or commercial applications. If the unit fails to
operate during the warranty period, return it postage prepaid along with $5.00 for
return shipping and insurance to: MABIS Healthcare, Attn: Repair Department,
1931 Norman Drive South, Waukegan, IL 60085. If MABIS Healthcare
determines that the unit failed to operate due to a manufacturing defect, the unit
will be repaired or replaced at the option of MABIS Healthcare. Repair or
replacement of the unit is the sole remedy under this limited warranty. This
warranty gives you specific legal rights, which vary from state to state. As a
condition of this warranty, the enclosed warranty registration card must be
completed and sent to us within 10 days of the purchase date.
This limited warranty constitutes MABIS Healthcare’s only responsibility and
obligation to repair and/or replace materials or components. We make no other
express or implied warranties, arising by operation of law or otherwise, or any
warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular use or purpose whether or
not the use or purpose has been disclosed to MABIS Healthcare in
specifications, drawings or otherwise, and whether or not MABIS Healthcare’s
products are specifically designed and/or manufactured by MABIS Healthcare for
the buyer’s use or purposes, except for the limited warranty stated above. MABIS

Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the RediScan Infrared Thermometer. Please read
the following instructions to achieve the most accurate temperatures and
safe operation. With proper care and use, your thermometer will provide
you with many years of reliable readings.
Your RediScan Infrared Thermometer is intended for monitoring human
body temperature in the home and is appropriate for all ages. The
RediScan can also be used to measure the temperature of objects such as
bath water, a bottle of milk or a variety of other items. It’s non-contact
design makes this thermometer less threatening and more sanitary than
most other thermometers. The RediScan can even be used while a child is
sleeping.
OTE: Measurements taken with the RediScan Infrared Thermometer are
comparable to oral readings.

Infrared Technology
The RediScan Thermometer features infrared technology that allows for
temperature readings to be taken approximately 2” – 3” from a person or
object. By not actually having to touch a person or object to get a
reading, the RediScan thermometer offers fast, hygienic results.
How does it work?
Since all people or objects radiate infrared energy, this thermometer
works by changing the infrared energy measurement of a person or
object into an accurate temperature reading.
The automatic distance finding sensor ensures the RediScan
thermometer is at the ideal distance before a measurement is taken. In
one second, 512 readings are taken. These readings are converted into
a single temperature with the peak temperature displayed on the screen.

Cleaning & Storage
To ensure accurate measurements, clean the lens before and after each
use. Fingerprints and dirt can cause inaccurate readings.
To Clean:
• Use an alcohol swab or a soft cotton swab
moistened with alcohol (70% Isopropyl) to
clean the thermometer lens, Figs. 1-2. Do
not use paper towels, the fibers may scratch
the lens.
• Do not use water to clean the lens or
thermometer.
• Only use a soft dry cloth to clean the
thermometer.
• Make sure that liquid does not enter
the interior of the thermometer.
• Never use abrasive cleaning agents, thinners
or gasoline for cleaning.
• Do not immerse into water or other
cleaning liquids.
To Store:
• Remove the battery if the thermometer will
not be used for an extended period of time.
• Store in a sun-free and dust-free dry area
at a temperature between -13°F – 131°F
(-25°C – 55°C) with relative humidity not
exceeding 95%.
• Protect the thermometer from severe impact
or shock. Keep stored in the protective
storage bag.
General Care Information
Your RediScan Thermometer can provide years of easy and accurate
readings if cared for properly.
1. The thermometer should only be used under the supervision of
an adult.
2. The infrared technology your RediScan Thermometer uses is
completely safe. While it is not harmful to look into the lens while taking
a reading, it is not recommended.
3. The RediScan Thermometer is designed to only take human
temperature readings from the forehead. Attempting to take a
measurement anywhere else on the body may result in an inaccurate
reading.

Forehead measurements are comparable to oral measurements.
Remember temperatures can vary from 97.0°F to 99.0°F (36.1°C to
37.2°C) and still may be considered ‘normal’. Time of day, level of
activity, exercise and other activities can attribute to variations in
temperature. However, unlike oral temperatures, factors such as
smoking, talking and drinking do not affect forehead measurements
.
5. Do not walk or run while taking a measurement.
6. Clean the lens before and after each use.
7. Store the unit in the protective bag when not in use.
8. Do not touch the lens with your fingers.
9. Do not store the unit where it will be exposed to direct sunlight, dust or
humidity. Avoid extreme temperatures.
10. Dropping or subjecting your thermometer to strong shocks should
be avoided.
11. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit, except to replace the battery.
12. If measurement is not attainable, the unit must be replaced.
OTE: Performance of the device may be degraded if operated outside of
stated temperature and humidity range; stored outside of stated
temperature and humidity range; thermometer undergoes mechanical
shock (drop).

Taking a Reading - Person
Taking the Temperature o a Person:
NOTE: Be sure the thermometer is set to measure the
temperature of a person.
1. If the thermometer is off, press the ‘Power’ button
to turn the thermometer on.
2. Press and hold the ‘SCAN’ button. The screen should
appear like Fig. 4.
3. Aim the front of the thermometer at the person’s
forehead, Fig.5. Hold the thermometer
approximately 2” to 3” away from the
forehead.
NOTE: Attempting to take a measurement
anywhere else on the body may result in an
inaccurate reading.
4. While continuing to press the ‘SCAN’
button, slowly move the thermometer
toward or away from their forehead
until the thermometer is
continuously beeping and the
LED light flashes, Fig. 6.
5. The ‘beeping’ indicates that the
distance required for the
measurement is correct. Once the
thermometer is consistently and
continuously beeping, release the
‘SCAN’ button.
Changing Modes
Switching Between Person or Object
First determine whether you want to
measure the temperature of a person or
an object.
1. Press the (Power) button to turn on
the thermometer.
2. To switch between the measurement modes for a
person or an object, press the ‘Mode’ button, Fig. 1.
The symbol appears to measure a person and the
symbol appears to measure an object, Fig. 2.
Switching Between Fahrenheit or Celsius
1. Press the ‘Power’ button to turn the thermometer on.
2. Press and hold both the ‘Mode’ and ‘Memory’ buttons for
approximately 3 seconds. This will change the mode to
either °C or °F, Fig. 3. Once the thermometer beeps, the
unit is ready for measurement.
NOTE: To switch the mode again, wait until the unit beeps
and then press and hold both the ‘Mode’ and ‘Memory’
buttons until the mode switches to either °C or °F.

Helpful Hints
• For accurate results, wait at least 30 minutes after exercising, bathing or
returning from the outdoors.
• Wait at least 1 minute between readings.
• If multiple readings are taken over a short period of time, use the
average of those readings.
• Because everyone’s temperature varies slightly, keep a record of your
body temperature to serve as a reference when judging a fever.

Taking a Reading - Person
6. The thermometer will beep once and show the
temperature reading, Fig. 7. The display will
illuminate with Nite- lo®technology for 3 seconds.
NOTE: A happy face symbol will appear on the display
if the temperature is below 100.4°F (38°C). If the
temperature reading is above 100.4°F (38°F), a sad
face symbol will appear.
If the temperature is outside of the thermometer’s sensory range, ‘Lo’ or ‘Hi’
will appear on the display. If however, the temperature is outside of the
thermometers permissible measurement range, ‘Err’ will appear on the
display.
7. The thermometer will automatically beep and shut-off after
approximately one minute of non-use.
OTE: To ensure accuracy:
• Please wait at least 1 minute between successive readings.
• Clean the probe lens before and after each use.
Taking a Reading - Object
Taking the Temperature o an Object:
NOTE: Be sure the thermometer is set to measure the
temperature of an object.
1. If the thermometer is off, press the ‘Power’ button
to turn the thermometer on.
2. Press and hold the ‘SCAN’ button. The screen should
appear like Fig. 8.
3. Aim the front of the

Recalling Measurements in Memory
1. Press the Power button to turn the
thermometer on.
2. Press the ‘Memory’ button to recall up
to 10 measurements stored in memory,
Fig. 1.
3. The symbol or symbol will appear with each
measurement stored in memory to indicate whether
a person or object temperature was taken, Fig. 2.
4. The happy face or sad face symbol will appear
5 seconds after viewing the measurement stored in
memory.
NOTE: After 10 measurements have been stored in the
memory, the oldest reading will be automatically deleted.
Clearing Memory
1. Press the Power button to turn the thermometer on.
2. To clear the memory, simply hold the ‘Memory’ button
down until the thermometer beeps and two horizontal
lines appear, Fig. 3.
Memory Recall Replacing the Battery
When the battery symbol appears on the screen, the batteries will
need to be replaced soon. When the letters “Lo” and the battery symbol
appears on the display, the batteries need to be replaced before taking
another measurement. Rechargeable batteries are okay to use in this
thermometer.
Replacing the Battery
1. ently slide the battery cover back.
2. Carefully remove the old batteries and properly discard.
3. Insert new batteries according to the proper polarity.
4. Slide the battery cover back on.
OTE: Please properly dispose of the batteries away from small children
and heat.

Taking the Temperature f a Pers n:
1. Press and release the (Power) button to turn the unit on.
2. To measure the temperature of a person, press the button.
3. Press and hold the ‘SCA ’ button while aiming the lens of the
thermometer approximately 2” to 3” away from the forehead.
The screen should appear like Fig. 1.
NOTE: Always measure the temperature on the forehead.

Cóm t mar la temperatura de una pers na:
1. Oprima y suelte el botón “Power” (encendido) para activar
el termómetro.
2. Para medir la temperatura de una persona, presione el
botón .
3. Presione y mantenga presionado el botón “SCA ” (buscar)
mientras apunta el lente del termómetro aproximadamente
entre 2 y 3 pulgadas (5 y 7.6 cm) de la frente de

Introducción
racias por adquirir el termómetro infrarrojo RediScan. Por favor, lea las
siguientes instrucciones para obtener exactitud en la lectura de
temperaturas y una operación segura. Con el cuidado y uso adecuados, su
termómetro le proporcionará muchos años de lecturas confiables.
Su termómetro infrarrojo RediScan está diseñado para monitorear la
temperatura corporal en casa y es adecuado para personas de todas las
edades. El RediScan también puede utilizarse para medir la temperatura de
objetos como el agua de la tina, una botella de leche y diferentes artículos.
Su diseño a distancia hace de éste un termómetro menos agresivo y más
higiénico que otros termómetros. El RediScan puede utilizarse mientras el
niño duerme.
OTA: Las lecturas que se toman con el termómetro infrarrojo RediScan
se comparan con aquellas tomadas vía oral.

El termómetro RediScan cuenta con tecnología infrarroja que permite
tomar la temperatura aproximadamente entre 2 y 3 pulgadas (5 y 7.6 cm)
de una persona u objeto. Ya que el RediScan nunca toca a la persona u
objeto para tomar la temperatura, este termómetro ofrece resultados
rápidos e higiénicos.
¿Cómo Funciona?
Ya que todas las personas u objetos irradian energía infrarroja, este
termómetro funciona cambiando la medida de energía infrarroja de una
persona u objeto en una precisa lectura de temperatura.
El sensor automático de distancia asegura que el termómetro RediScan
se ubique a la distancia ideal antes de tomar la temperatura. En un
segundo se toman 512 lecturas. Estas lecturas se convierten en una sola
temperatura y en la pantalla se muestra la más alta.

Información General de Cuidado
Su termómetro RediScan podrá proporcionarle años de lecturas fáciles y
precisas, si lo cuida apropiadamente.
1. El termómetro deberá utilizarse sólo bajo la supervisión de un adulto.
2. La tecnología infrarroja que utiliza su termómetro RediScan es
completamente segura. Aunque no es dañino ver a través del
lente mientras se toma la temperatura, no es recomendable.
3. El termómetro RediScan está diseñado para tomar la temperatura
únicamente de la frente de una persona. Tratar de tomar la temperatura
en otra parte del cuerpo puede proporcionar lecturas inexactas.
4. Las lecturas tomadas de la frente se comparan con aquellas tomadas
vía oral. Recuerde, las temperaturas pueden variar entre 97.0 a 99.0°F
(36.1 a 37.2°C) y aún considerarse “normal”. La hora del día, el nivel de
actividad, el ejercicio y otras actividades pueden contribuir a variaciones
de temperatura. Sin embargo, a diferencia de la temperatura tomada vía
oral, factores como fumar, hablar y tomar algo no afecta las lecturas
que se tomen de la frente.
5. No camine o corra mientras se toma la temperatura.
6. Limpie el lente antes y después de cada uso.
7. Almacene la unidad en el estuche protector cuando no lo esté
utilizando.
8. No toque el lente con los dedos.
9. No almacene la unidad en donde estará expuesta a luz solar, polvo o
humedad. Evite temperaturas extremas.
10. Evite tirar o golpear su termómetro.
11. No trate de desarmar la unidad, excepto para reemplazar las baterías.
12. Si la unidad no proporciona ninguna lectura, ésta debe ser remplazada.
NOTA: El rendimiento del dispositivo puede disminuir si se utiliza fuera de
la temperatura y rango de humedad establecidos; si se almacena en
lugares fuera del rango de temperatura y humedad establecidos; si el
termómetro sufre un choque mecánico (caída).
Limpieza y Almacenamiento
Para asegurar una lectura precisa, limpie el lente antes y después de cada
uso. Las huelas digitales y la suciedad pueden provocar errores en la
lectura.
Para Limpiar:
• Utilice un hisopo con alcohol o un hisopo de
algodón suave humedecido con alcohol
(isopropilo al 70%) para limpiar el lente del
termómetro, Figuras 1-2. No use toallas de
papel, las fibras pueden rayar el lente.
• No utilice agua para limpiar el lente o
termómetro.
• Simplemente utilice un trapo seco suave para
limpiar el termómetro.
• Asegúrese de que ningún líquido se filtre
hacia dentro del termómetro.
• Nunca utilice agentes de limpieza abrasivos,
solventes o gasolina para limpiarlo.
• No lo sumerja en agua u otros líquidos
limpiadores.
Para Guardar:
• Retire la batería si no va a utilizar el
termómetro durante un largo período de
tiempo.
• Almacénelo en un área seca libre de rayos
solares y polvo a una temperatura entre -13 y
131°F (-25 y 55°C) con humedad relativa que
no exceda el 95%.
• Proteja el termómetro contra impactos o
golpes severos. Manténgalo almacenado en su estuche.

Sugerencias Útiles
• Para mejores resultados, espere por lo menos 30 minutos después de
ejercitarse, bañarse o de haber llegado antes de tomarse la
temperatura.
• Espere por lo menos 1 minuto entre cada lectura.
• Si tomó varias lecturas durante un corto período de tiempo, utilice el
promedio de dichas lecturas.
• Ya que la temperatura de cada persona varía ligeramente, lleve un
registro de su temperatura corporal para que le sirva de referencia
cuando evalúe una fiebre.
Modo de Cambios
Cómo cambiar entre personas y objetos
Primero determine si desea medir la
temperatura de una persona o de un objeto.
1. Presione el botón “Power” (encendido)
para activar el termómetro.
2. Para cambiar el modo de lectura entre
una persona u objeto, presione el botón
“Mode” (modo), Figura 1. El símbolo aparece
para medir la temperatura de una persona y este otro
aparece para objetos, Figura. 2. Cómo cambiar de
grados Fahrenheit a Celsius.
Cómo cambiar de grados Fahrenheit a Celsius
1. Presione el botón “Power” (encendido) para activar el
termómetro.
2. Presione y mantenga presionado los botones “Mode” y
“Memory” (Modo y Memoria) durante aproximadamente 3
segundos. Esto cambiará el modo a °C o °F, Figura 3. Una
vez que el termómetro haga “bip”, estará listo para tomar
lecturas.
OTA: Para volver a cambiar el modo, espere hasta que la
unidad haga “bip” y después presione y mantenga presiona-
do los botones de “Mode” y “Memory” (Modo y Memoria)
hasta que cambie a modo °C o °F.

Cómo tomar la temperatura de una persona:
NOTA: Asegúrese de que el termómetro esté configurado
para medir la temperatura de personas.
1. Si el termómetro esta apagado, presione el botón
“Power” (encendido) para activarlo.
2. Presione y mantenga presionado el botón “SCAN”
(buscar). La pantalla debe parecerse a la Figura 4.
3. Apunte la parte frontal del termómetro hacia la frente de la persona,

aproximadamente entre 2 y 3 pulgadas
(57 7.6 cm) de la frente.
OTA: Tratar de tomar la temperatura en otra
parte del cuerpo puede proporcionar lecturas
inexactas.
4. Mientras presiona continuamente el botón
“SCAN”, aleje o mueva lentamente el
termómetro hacia la frente de la persona
hasta que comience a hacer “bip”
de manera continua y la luz LED
parpadee, Figura 6.
5. El “bip” constante indica que la
distancia requerida para tomar la
temperatura es la correcta. Una
vez que el termómetro haga “bip”
consistente y continuamente, deje
de presionar el botón “SCAN”.

6. El termómetro hará “bip” una vez y mostrará la
temperatura, Figura 7. La pantalla continuará iluminada
con la tecnología Nite- lo®durante 3 segundos.
OTA: Un símbolo de carita feliz aparecerá si la
temperatura se encuentra por debajo de 100.4°F (38°C).
Si la temperatura es superior a 100.4°F (38°F),
aparecerá el símbolo de una carita triste .
Si la temperatura está fuera del rango sensorial del termómetro, en la
pantalla aparecerá “Lo” o “Hi” (alta o baja). Sin embargo, si la temperatura
se encuentra fuera del rango de lecturas permisible en los termómetros,
en la pantalla aparecerá “Err” (error).
7. Automáticamente, el termómetro hará “bip” y se apagará
aproximadamente un minuto después de no utilizarse.
OTA: Para asegurar precisión en la lectura:
• Por favor, espere por lo menos 1 segundos entre cada toma de lectura
continua.
• Limpie el lente antes y después de cada uso.

NOTA: Asegúrese de que el termómetro esté configurado
para medir la temperatura de objetos.
1. Si el termómetro esta apagado, presione el botón
“Power” (encendido) para activarlo.
2. Presione y mantenga presionado el botón “SCAN”
(buscar). La pantalla debe parecerse a la Figura 8.
3. Apunte la parte frontal del
termómetro hacia el objeto,

Almacenamiento de Lecturas en la
Memoria:
1. Presione el botón “Power” (encendido)
para activar el termómetro.
2. Presione el botón “Memory” (memoria)
para que se muestren hasta las 10
últimas lecturas almacenadas en la memoria, Figura 1.
3. Aparecerá el símbolo o con cada lectura
almacenada en la memoria para indicarle si la
temperatura es de una persona u objeto, Figura 2.
4. El símbolo de la carita feliz o triste aparecerá 5
segundos después de consultar la lectura almacenada
en la memoria.
OTA: Después de que se almacenen 10 lecturas en la
memoria, la última de éstas se borrará automáticamente.
Cómo Limpiar la Memoria
1. Presione el botón “Power” (encendido) para activar el
termómetro.
2. Para limpiar la memoria, simplemente mantenga
presionado el botón “Memory” (memoria) hasta que el
termómetro haga “bip” y aparezcan dos líneas horizontales, Figura 3.
Cómo Invocar a las Mediciones en la Memoria Cómo Cambiar la Batería
Cuando el símbolo de la batería aparezca en la pantalla, pronto
deberá cambiar las baterías. Cuando las letras “Lo” y el símbolo de la
batería aparezcan en la pantalla, deberá cambiar las baterías antes
de tomar otra lectura. Puede utilizar baterías recargables “AAA” con este
termómetro.
Cómo Remplazar las Baterías
1. Deslice suavemente la tapa de las baterías hacia atrás.
2. Con cuidado retire las baterías viejas y deséchelas de manera
adecuada.
3. Inserte las baterías nuevas de acuerdo con la polaridad
correspondiente.
4. Deslice la tapa de las baterías de vuelta en su lugar.
OTA: Por favor, deseche las baterías en un lugar fuera del alcance de
niños pequeños y de alguna fuente de calor.
