lation, wiring and alibration instru tions are in luded in
this manual.

1.0 FOUNDATION fieldbus™Overview
1.1 Description
FOUNDATION fieldbus™is a digital ommuni ations system
that serially inter onne ts devi es in the field. A Fieldbus
system is similar to a Distributed Control System (DCS)
with two ex eptions:
• Although a FOUNDATION fieldbus™system an use the same
physi al wiring as an existing 4–20 mA devi e, Fieldbus
devi es are not onne ted point to point, but rather are
multidropped and wired in parallel on a single pair of wires
(referred to as a segment).
•F
OUNDATION fieldbus™is a system that allows the user to
distribute ontrol a ross a network. Fieldbus devi es are
smart and a tually maintain ontrol over the system.
Unlike 4–20 mA analog installations in whi h the two wires
arry a single variable (the varying 4–20 mA urrent), a dig-
ital ommuni ations s heme su h as FOUNDATION fieldbus™
onsiders the two wires as a network. The network an arry
many pro ess variables as well as other information. The
E3 Modulevel®transmitter is a FOUNDATION fieldbus™reg-
istered devi e that ommuni ates with the H1
FOUNDATION fieldbus™proto ol operating at 31.25
kbits/se . The H1 physi al layer is an approved IEC 61158
standard.
An IEC61158 shielded twisted
pair wire segment an be as long
as 6234 feet (1900 meters) with-
out a repeater. Up to 4 repeaters
per segment an be used to extend
the distan e. The maximum num-
ber of devi es allowed on a
Fieldbus segment is 32 although
this depends on the urrent draw
of the devi es on any given seg-
ment. See Figure 1.

1.2 Benefits
The benefits of FOUNDATION fieldbus™an be found
throughout all phases of an installation:
1. Design/Installation: Conne ting multiple devi es to a single
pair of wires means less wire and fewer I/O equipment.
Initial Engineering osts are also redu ed be ause the
Fieldbus Foundation requires interoperability, defined as
“the ability to operate multiple devi es in the same system,
regardless of manufa turer, without a loss of fun tionality.”
All FOUNDATION fieldbus™devi es must be tested for
interoperability by the Fieldbus Foundation. Magnetrol®
E3 MODULEVEL FOUNDATION fieldbus™devi e registration
information an be found at www.fieldbus.org.
2. Operation: With ontrol now taking pla e within the
devi es in the field, better loop performan e and ontrol are
the result. A FOUNDATION fieldbus™system allows for mul-
tiple variables to be brought ba k from ea h devi e to the
ontrol room for additional trending and reporting.
3. Maintenance: The self-diagnosti s residing in the smart
field devi es minimizes the need to send maintenan e
personnel to the field.
1.3 Device Configuration
Device Descriptions
The fun tion of a FOUNDATION fieldbus™devi e is deter-
mined by the arrangement of a system of blo ks defined by
the Fieldbus Foundation. The types of blo ks used in a typi-
al User Appli ation are des ribed as follows:
Resource Block des ribes the hara teristi s of the
FOUNDATION fieldbus™devi e su h as the devi e name,
manufa turer, and serial number.
Function Blocks are built into the FOUNDATION fieldbus™
devi es as needed to provide the desired ontrol system
behavior. The input and output parameters of fun tion
blo ks an be linked over the Fieldbus. There an be
numerous fun tion blo ks in a single User Appli ation.
Transducer Blocks ontain information su h as alibration
parameters and sensor type. They are used to onne t the
sensor to the input fun tion blo ks.
An important requirement of Fieldbus devi es is the inter-
operability on ept mentioned earlier. Devi e Des ription
(DD) te hnology is used to a hieve this interoperability.
The DD provides extended des riptions for ea h obje t and
provides pertinent information needed by the host system.

DDs are similar to the drivers that your personal omputer
(PC) uses to operate peripheral devi es onne ted to it. Any
Fieldbus host system an operate with a devi e if it has the
proper DD and Common File Format (CFF) for that devi e.
The most re ent DD and CFF files an be found on the
FOUNDATION fieldbus™web site at fieldbus.org.
1.4 Intrinsic afety
The H1 physi al layer supports Intrinsi Safety (IS) appli a-
tions with bus-powered devi es. To a omplish this, an IS
barrier or galvani isolator is pla ed between the power
supply in the safe area and the devi e in the hazardous area.
H1 also supports the Fieldbus Intrinsi ally Safe Con ept
(FISCO) model whi h allows more field devi es in a
network. The FISCO model onsiders the apa itan e and
indu tan e of the wiring to be distributed along its entire
length. Therefore, the stored energy during a fault will be
less and more devi es are permitted on a pair of wires.
Instead of the onservative entity model, whi h only allows
about 90 mA of urrent, the FISCO model allows a maxi-
mum of 110 mA for Class II C installations and 240 mA
for Class II B installations.
FISCO ertifying agen ies have limited the maximum
segment length to 1000 meters be ause the FISCO model
does not rely on standardized ignition urves.
The E3 MODULEVEL is available with entity IS, FISCO IS,
FNICO non-in endive, or explosion proof approvals.
1.5 Link Active cheduler (LA )
The default operating lass of the E3 MODULEVEL with
FOUNDATION fieldbus™is a basi devi e. However, it is
apable of being a Link A tive S heduler (LAS). The LAS
ontrols all ommuni ation on a FOUNDATION fieldbus™
segment. It maintains the “Live List” of all devi es on a seg-
ment, oordinates both the y li and a y li timing and, at
any given time, ontrols whi h devi e publishes data via
Compel Data (CD) and Pass Token (PT).
The primary LAS is usually maintained in the host system,
but in the event of a failure, all asso iated ontrol an be
transferred to a ba kup LAS in a field devi e su h as
the E3 MODULEVEL. The operating lass of
E3 MODULEVEL an be hanged from basi to LAS
using a FOUNDATION fieldbus onfiguration tool.

2.0 Quick tart Installation
2.1 Getting tarted
 
No spe ial equipment or tools are required to install
E3 MODULEVEL. The following items are re ommended:
• Wren hes, flange gaskets and flange bolting appropriate for
pro ess onne tion(s)
• Flat-blade s rewdriver
• Level
•1⁄8" Allen wren h
• Fieldbus ompatible power supply with proper termination
 
Some key information is needed to onfigure the
E3 MODULEVEL transmitter. Complete the following
operating parameters table before beginning onfiguration.
2.2 Quick tart Mounting
NOTE: onfirm the style and process connection size/type of the
E3 MODULEVEL transmitter. Ensure it matches the require-
ments of the installation before continuing with the QuickStart
installation.
 
1. If appli able, adjust and trim the adjustable hanger able
assembly to the required length and mount it between the
stem and displa er.
2. Using a level, verify that the vessel mounting flange is level
in all dire tions within 3°.

3. Position the head flange gasket on the vessel flange and gen-
tly lower the displa er into the vessel. To prevent damage to
the stem/spring assembly, avoid tipping the unit or, in any
way, putting lateral for es on the stem.
4. Align the flanges and ensure that the gasket is seated properly.
5. Install the flange bolts and nuts and tighten alternating nuts
in a star pattern. Flange bolting torque spe ifi ations are
listed on page 12.
 
1. Remove the shipping strap and wire assembly whi h se ures
the displa er in the hamber during shipment. This assem-
bly must be removed through the bottom onne tion or
drain.
2. Using a level, verify that the vessel mounting flanges are
level in all dire tions within 3°.
3. Align the MODULEVEL pro ess onne tions with those
on the vessel and atta h a ordingly, based upon the on-
ne tion type. Appropriate gaskets and bolting will be
required for flanged onne tions. Install the flange bolts
and nuts and tighten alternating nuts in a star pattern.
Flange bolting torque spe ifi ations are listed on page 12.
2.3 Quick tart Wiring
WARNING: Explosion hazard. Do not connect or disconnect equip-
ment unless power has been switched off or the area is
known to be non-hazardous.
NOTE: Ensure that the electrical wiring to the E3 transmitter is com-
plete and in compliance with all regulations and codes.
1. Remove the over of the upper wiring ompartment of the
transmitter.
2. Atta h a onduit fitting and mount the onduit plug in the
spare opening. Pull the power supply wire through the on-
duit fitting.
3. Conne t an earth ground to the nearest green ground s rew.
See Figure 2. Use a minimum 18 AWG rated up to 85 °C.
4. Conne t the positive supply wire to the (+) terminal and the
negative supply wire to the (-) terminal. For Explosion
Proof Installations, see Wiring, Se tion 3.5.3.
5. Repla e the over and tighten.

2.4 Quick tart Configuration
The E3 MODULEVEL transmitter omes onfigured with
default values from the fa tory but an be re onfigured
in the shop. The minimum onfiguration instru tions
required in the field follow. Use the information from
the operating parameters table in Se tion 2.1.2 before
beginning onfiguration.
1. Power up the transmitter.
The display hanges every 5 se onds to show one of three
values: Status, PV-Lvl (or PV-If or PV-SG) and AI Out.
2. Remove the over of the lower ele troni ompartment.
3. Use the and keys to move from one step of the
onfiguration program to the next step, see Figure 3.
4. Press key. The last hara ter in the
first line of the display hanges to an
ex lamation point (!).
5. Use the and keys to in rease or de rease the value in
the display or to s roll through the hoi es.
6. Press key to a ept a value and move to the next step of
the onfiguration program (the default password is 1).
7. After entering the last value, allow 10 se onds before
removing power from the transmitter.
The following two onfiguration entries are the minimum required for
onfiguration (the default password is 1 from the LCD/keypad).

3.0 Complete Installation
3.1 Unpacking
Unpa k the instrument arefully. Take are not to bend the
displa er stem or en losing tube. Ensure all omponents
have been removed from the pa king material. Che k all the
ontents against the pa king slip and report any dis repan-
ies to the fa tory.
Before pro eeding with the installation, do the following:
• Inspe t all omponents for damage. Report any damage to
the arrier within 24 hours.
• On hambered units, remove the shipping strap and wire
assembly holding the displa er in pla e. This assembly must
be removed through the bottom hamber onne tion before
start-up.
 If reshipping to another location, the displacer must again
be secured using the same strap and wire assembly.
• Che k that the model number on the nameplate mat hes
the pa king slip and pur hase order.
• Re ord the model and serial numbers for future referen e
when ordering parts.

3.2 Electrostatic Discharge (E D)
Handling Procedure
MAGNETROL ele troni instruments are manufa tured
to the highest quality standards. These instruments use
ele troni omponents whi h may be damaged by stati
ele tri ity present in most work environments.
The following steps are re ommended to redu e the risk of
omponent failure due to ele trostati dis harge.
• Ship and store ir uit boards in anti-stati bags. If an anti-
stati bag is not available, wrap the board in aluminum foil.
Do not pla e boards on foam pa king materials.
• Use a grounding wrist strap when installing and removing
ir uit boards. A grounded workstation is re ommended.
• Handle ir uit boards only by the edges. Do not tou h
omponents or onne tor pins.
• Ensure that all ele tri al onne tions are ompletely made
and that none are partial or floating. Ground all equipment
to a good, earth ground.

3.3 Before You Begin
 
Ea h E3 MODULEVEL transmitter is built to mat h the
physi al spe ifi ations of the required installation. Ensure
that the pro ess onne tion(s) on the vessel mat hes the
MODULEVEL pro ess onne tion(s).
See Mounting, Section 3.4.
Ensure that the wiring between the power supply and
MODULEVEL transmitter are omplete and orre t for the
type of installation.
When installing the MODULEVEL transmitter in a general
purpose or hazardous area, lo al, state and federal regulations
and guidelines must be observed.
See Wiring, Section 3.5.3.
 

Ele troni MODULEVEL. The following items are

• Fieldbus ompatible power supply with proper termination

The MODULEVEL transmitter should be lo ated for easy
a ess for servi e, onfiguration, and monitoring. There
should be suffi ient headroom to allow installation and
removal of the transmitter head and, in ases of tank top
onfiguration, the displa er. Spe ial pre autions should be
made to prevent exposure to orrosive atmosphere, ex essive
vibration, sho k, or physi al damage.
The operating temperature range for the transmitter ele -
troni s is -40 to +176 °F (-40 to +80 °C). The operating
temperature range for the digital display is -5 to +160 °F
(-20 to +70 °C).
 Operation of all buoyancy type level devices should be
done in such a way as to minimize the action of dynamic
forces on the float or displacer sensing element. Good
practice for reducing the likelihood of damage to the con-
trol is to equalize pressure across the device very slowly.

3.4 Mounting
The E3 MODULEVEL transmitter an be mounted to a
tank using a variety of onfigurations and pro ess onne -
tions. Generally, either a threaded, welded or flanged on-
ne tion is used with an external age. A flanged onne tion
is always used on a tank top model. For information
about the sizes and types of onne tions available, see
Model Numbers, Section 8.7.
Ensure all mounting onne tions are in pla e on the tank
and properly sized for the spe ifi unit being installed.
Compare the model on the nameplate with the produ t
information to ensure the MODULEVEL transmitter is
orre t for the intended installation.
If the MODULEVEL must be insulated, DO NOT insulate
the transmitter head, e-tube or finned extensions.
 
Figure 6 illustrates a typi al tank top installation.
Before installing, ensure that:
• There is adequate headroom for the installation of the
MODULEVEL head and displa er and that it has unob-
stru ted entry into the vessel.
• Using a level, the mounting flange is level within 3° in all
dire tions.
• If the adjustable hanger assembly (P/N 32-3110-001) is
used, it is ut to the required length and atta hed to the
displa er stem.
NOTE: The adjustable hanger assembly is used when the top of the
displacer and, therefore, the top of the measurement range
must be positioned in the vessel more than 9.31" below the
mounting flange. The standard hanger cable length is 8 feet.

• A stilling well is installed for appli ations where ontinuous
agitation is present. The stilling well must be verti ally level
so as not to restri t displa er movement.
See Figure 7 for a typi al stilling well installation.
• The pro ess temperature, pressure and spe ifi gravity are
within the unit’s spe ifi ations for installation.
See Specifications, Section 8.6.
To install:
1. Position the head flange gasket on the vessel flange and gen-
tly lower the displa er into the vessel. To prevent damage to
the stem/spring assembly, avoid tipping the unit or, in any
way, putting lateral for es on the stem.
2. Align the flanges and ensure that the gasket is seated properly.
3. Install the flange bolts and nuts and tighten alternating nuts
in a star pattern. Flange bolting torque spe ifi ations are
listed on page 12.
 All MODULEVEL units are shipped from the factory with the
enclosing tube tightened and the transmitter head set
screws locked to the enclosing tube. Failure to loosen the
set screws prior to repositioning the supply and output con-
nections may cause the enclosing tube to loosen, resulting
in the possible leakage of the process liquid or vapor.
4. Loosen the transmitter head lo k s rews (so ket type) and
position onduit outlet in the desired dire tion.
See Figure 8.
5. Retighten lo k s rews.
NOTE: Since the transmitter head is rotatable through 360º, it is impor-
tant to make certain that the controller locking screws are tight
before making electrical connections.
 
The hamber type MODULEVEL is mounted on the side
of the vessel with either a side/side or side/bottom onne tion,
as furnished. Figure 9 on page 14 illustrates a typi al hamber
type installation.
Before installing, ensure that:
• There is adequate room for installation of the MODULEVEL.
• Using a level, the vessel mounting onne tions are level
within 3° in all dire tions.
• The pro ess temperature, pressure and spe ifi gravity are
within the unit’s spe ifi ations for installation.
See Specifications, Section 8.6.
• If not already done, remove the shipping strap and wire
assembly holding the displa er in pla e in the hamber. This
assembly must be removed through the bottom hamber
onne tion or drain before start-up.

onne tion type. Appropriate gaskets and bolting will be
required for flanged onne tions. Install the flange bolts and
nuts and tighten alternating nuts in a star pattern. Flange
bolting torque spe ifi ations are listed on page 12.
NOTE: It is recommended that shut-off valves be installed in each
equalizing line to the chamber, along with a drain valve (refer to
Figure 8). Equalizing lines should be sized at least as large as
the connections provided at the chamber.
2. Make sure that the hamber is verti ally level within 3° in
ea h dire tion to ensure fri tionless operation of the internal
displa er.
 All MODULEVEL units are shipped from the factory with the
enclosing tube tightened and the transmitter head set

3.5 Wiring
 FOUNDATION fieldbus E3 MODULEVEL transmitter operates
at voltages of 9–32 VD . Higher voltage will damage the
transmitter.
Wiring between the power supply and the E3 MODULEVEL
transmitter should be made using minimum of 18 AWG
shielded twisted pair instrument able. Wiring must be suit-
able for temperatures up to at least +85 °C. Within the
transmitter en losure, onne tions are made to the terminal
strip and the ground onne tions. When installing a remote
mount E3 transmitter, refer to Figures 12 & 13 for wiring
onne tions.
WARNING! Explosion hazard. Do not disconnect equipment unless
power has been switched off or the area is known to be
non-hazardous.

A general purpose installation does not have flammable
media present. Areas rated non-in endive (Cl I, Div. 2) have
flammable media present only under abnormal onditions.
No spe ial ele tri al onne tions are required so standard
installation methods may be followed.
To install General Purpose or Non-Incendive wiring:
1. Remove the over to the wiring ompartment of the trans-
mitter. Install the onduit plug in the unused opening. Use
PTFE tape/sealant to ensure a liquid-tight onne tion.
2. Install a onduit fitting and pull the supply wires.
3. Conne t shield to an earth ground at power supply.
4. Conne t an earth ground wire to the nearest green ground
s rew. Use a minimum 18 AWG rated up to 85 °C.
5. Conne t the positive supply wire to the (+) terminal and the
negative supply wire to the (-) terminal.
6. Repla e the over to the wiring ompartment of the
transmitter.
To install Remote Mount wiring:
1. Install onduit from the remote mounted head to the
integral onduit onne tion of the E3 transmitter (refer to
lo al plant or fa ility pro edures).
2. Remove the over of the remote transmitter, terminal board
housing and of the integral terminal board housing.
3. Conne t one end of the six ondu tor able (P/N
037-3226-xxx or 037-3227-xxx) to the integral terminal
blo k and the other end to the terminal blo k within the
remote terminal board housing. Be sure to mat h the six
dis rete numbered wires with the numbers on ea h terminal
blo k. See Figures 12 & 13.
4. Conne t shield to an earth ground at the power supply.
5. Conne t an earth ground wire to the nearest green ground
s rew per lo al ele tri al ode (not shown in illustration).
6. Conne t the positive supply wire to the (+) terminal and the
negative supply wire to the (-) terminal.
7. Repla e the overs to the wiring ompartment of the
transmitter and to both terminal board housings. Ensure
that all overs are ompletely tightened down before apply-
ing power.
 
An intrinsi ally safe (IS) installation potentially has flamma-
ble media present. An approved IS barrier must be installed
in the non-hazardous (safe) area. Consult fa tory for agen y
drawing.

To install Intrinsically Safe wiring:
1. Make sure the IS barrier is properly installed in the safe area
(refer to lo al plant or fa ility pro edures). Complete the
wiring from the barrier to the E3 transmitter.
2. After IS barrier installation, follow General Purpose and
Non-in endive wiring pro edure on page 15.
 
Explosion Proof (XP) is a method of designing equipment
for installation in hazardous areas. A hazardous lo ation is
an area in whi h flammable gases or vapors are, or may be,
present in the air in quantities suffi ient to produ e explo-
sive or ignitable mixtures. The wiring for the transmitter
must be ontained in Explosion Proof onduit extending
into the safe area.
To install Explosion Proof wiring – Integral mount:
Due to the spe ialized design of the Integral E3 transmitter,
no Explosion Proof onduit fitting (EY seal) is required
within 18" of the transmitter. An Explosion Proof onduit
fitting (EY seal) is required between the hazardous and safe
areas. See Agen y Approvals, Se tion 8.4.
1. Install Explosion Proof onduit from the safe area to the
onduit onne tion of the E3 transmitter (refer to lo al
plant or fa ility pro edures).
2. Remove the over to the wiring ompartment of the
transmitter.
3. Conne t shield to an earth ground at the power supply.
4. Conne t an Earth ground wire to the nearest green ground
s rew per lo al ele tri al ode. Use a minimum 18 AWG
rated up to 85 °C.
5. Conne t the positive supply wire to the (+) terminal and the
negative supply wire to the (-) terminal.
6. Repla e the over to the wiring ompartment of the
transmitter before applying power.
 Instrument and conduit junction box covers must be in
place and tightly sealed at all times during operation.
To install Explosion Proof wiring – Remote mount:
1. Install Explosion Proof onduit from the remote mounted
E3 transmitter head to the integrally mounted terminal
housing at the LVDT. An Explosion Proof onduit fitting
(EY seal) is required within 18" of the remote mounted
transmitter head wiring housing (see figure 13). Follow
steps 2 through 7 of Remote Mount wiring pro edure on
page 15.

4.0 Function Blocks
4.1 Overview
The E3 MODULEVEL Liquid Level Displa er Transmitter
operates on the Ar hemedes prin iple of buoyan y for e.
Refer to Bulletin 48-635 for more detailed information on
the MODULEVEL transmitter.
The E3 MODULEVEL is a liquid level transmitter with
four FOUNDATION fieldbus™Blo ks (one Resour e Blo k,
one Transdu er Blo k, one Analog Input Fun tion blo k,
and one PID Fun tion blo k. The idea of Fun tion Blo ks,
whi h a user an ustomize for a parti ular appli ation, is a
key on ept of Fieldbus topology. Fun tion Blo ks onsist
of an algorithm, inputs and outputs, and a user-defined
name.
The TRANSDUCER blo k output is available to the
network through the ANALOG INPUT blo k.
• The ANALOG INPUT blo k (AI) takes the TRANSDUCER
blo k level or density value and makes it available as an
analog value to other fun tion blo ks. The AI blo k has
s aling onversion, filtering, and alarm fun tions.
 
The following are general des riptions of the parameters
ommon to all blo ks. Additional information for a given
parameter is des ribed later in that spe ifi blo k se tion.
ST_REV (static data revision): a read only parameter that
gives the revision level of the stati data asso iated with the
blo k. This parameter will be in remented ea h time a stati
parameter attribute value is written and is a vehi le for
tra king hanges in stati parameter attributes.
TAG_DESC (ta descriptor): a user assigned parameter
that des ribes the intended appli ation of any given blo k.
STRATEGY: a user assigned parameter that identifies
groupings of blo ks asso iated with a given network onne -
tion or ontrol s heme.
ALERT_KEY: a user assigned parameter whi h may be used
in sorting alarms or events generated by a blo k.
MODE_BLK: a stru tured parameter omposed of the
a tual mode, the target mode, the permitted mode(s), and
the normal mode of operation of a blo k.
• The a tual mode is set by the blo k during its exe ution to
refle t the mode used during exe ution.
• The target mode may be set and monitored through the
mode parameter.

• The permitted modes are listed for ea h blo k.
• The blo k must be in an automati mode for normal
operation.
NOTE: The MODE_BLK target parameter must be OOS (out of service)
to change configuration and calibration parameters in that func-
tion block (when in OOS, the normal algorithm is no longer exe-
cuted and any outstanding alarms are cleared).
All blocks must be in an operating mode for the device to oper-
ate. This requires the Resource Block to be in “AUTO” and the
Transducer Block to be in “AUTO” before the Function Blocks
can be placed in a mode other than OOS (out of service).
BLOCK_ERR: a parameter that refle ts the error status of
hardware or software omponents asso iated with, and
dire tly affe ting, the orre t operation of a blo k.
NOTE: A BLO K_ERR of “Simulation” in the Resource Block does not
mean simulation is active—it merely indicates that the simula-
tion enabling hardware jumper is installed.
4.2 Resource Block
The RESOURCE blo k ontains data spe ifi to the
E3 MODULEVEL transmitter, along with some
information about the firmware.
NOTE: The Resource Block has no control function.
MODE_BLK: Must be in AUTO in order for the remain-
ing blo ks in the transmitter to operate.
NOTE: A Resource Block in “out of service” will stop all function block
execution in the transmitter.
RS_STATE (Resource State): identifies the state of the
RESOURCE blo k state ma hine. Under normal operating
onditions, it should be “On-Line.”
DD_RESOURCE: a string identifying the tag of the
resour e that ontains the Devi e Des ription for this devi e.
MANUFAC_ID: ontains the MAGNETROL International,
In orporated FOUNDATION fieldbus™manufa turer’s ID
number, whi h is 0x000156.
DEV_TYPE: the model number of the E3 MODULEVEL
transmitter (0x0003). It is used by interfa e devi es to
lo ate the Devi e Des riptor (DD) file for this produ t.
DEV_REV: ontains the firmware revision of the
E3 MODULEVEL transmitter. It is used by interfa e
devi es to orre tly sele t the asso iated DD.

DD_REV: ontains the revision of the DD asso iated with
the version of firmware in the E3 MODULEVEL transmitter.
It is used by interfa e devi es to orre tly sele t the asso iat-
ed DD.
RESTART: Default and Pro essor sele tions are available.
Default will reset the Model E3 to the default blo k
onfiguration.
NOTE: RESTART DEFAULT will not reset parameters to their default
values in the custom Transducer Block.
FEATURES: a list of the features available in the transmit-
ter. The Model E3 features in lude Reports, and Software
Write Lo king.
FEATURES_SEL: allows the user to turn Features on or off.
CYCLE_TYPE: identifies the blo k exe ution methods that
are available.
CYCLE_SEL: allows the user to sele t the blo k exe ution
method.
MIN_CYCLE_T: the time duration of the shortest y le
interval. It puts a lower limit on the s heduling of the
resour e.
NV_CYCLE_T: the minimum time interval between opies
of non-volatile (NV) parameters to NV memory. NV mem-
ory is only updated if there has been a signifi ant hange in
the dynami value and the last value saved will be available
for the restart pro edure. A value of “0” means it will never
be automati ally opied. Entries made by human interfa e
devi es to NV parameters are opied to non-volatile memory
at the time of entry.
NOTE: After completing a large copy, allow several minutes before
removing power from the E3 MODULEVEL transmitter to ensure
that all data has been saved.
FREE_SPACE: shows the amount of available memory for
further onfiguration. The value is zero per ent in a pre-
onfigured devi e.
FREE_TIME: the amount of the blo k pro essing time that
is free to pro ess additional blo ks.
SHED_RCAS: the time duration at whi h to give up om-
puter writes to fun tion blo k RCas lo ations. Shed from
RCas will never happen when SHED_RCAS = 0.
SHED_ROUT: the time duration at whi h to give up om-
puter writes to fun tion blo k ROut lo ations. Shed from
ROut will never happen when SHED_ROUT = 0.

FAULT_STATE, SET_FSTATE, CLR_FSTATE: these only
apply to output fun tion blo ks. (The E3 MODULEVEL
has no output fun tion blo ks).
MAX_NOTIFY: the maximum number of alert reports that
the transmitter an send without getting a onfirmation.
The user an set the number low, to ontrol alert flooding,
by adjusting the LIM_NOTIFY parameter value.
LIM_NOTIFY: the maximum numbers of un onfirmed
alert notify messages allowed. No alerts are reported if set
to zero.
CONFIRM_TIME: the time that the transmitter will wait
for onfirmation of re eipt of a report before trying again.
Retry will not o ur if CONFIRM_TIME = 0.
WRITE_LOCK: When set to LOCKED, will prevent any
external hange to the stati or non-volatile data base in the
Fun tion Blo k Appli ation of the transmitter. Blo k on-
ne tions and al ulation results will pro eed normally, but
the onfiguration will be lo ked.
UPDATE_EVT (Update Event): is an alert generated by a
write to the stati data in the blo k.
BLOCK_ALM (Block Alarm): is used for onfiguration,
hardware, onne tion, or system problems in the blo k. The
ause of any spe ifi alert is entered in the sub ode field.
The first alert to be ome a tive will set the A tive status in
the Status attribute. As soon as the Unreported status is
leared by the alert reporting task, another blo k alert may
be reported without learing the A tive status, if the sub-
ode has hanged.
ALARM_SUM (Alarm Summary): ontains the urrent
alert status, the una knowledged states, the unreported
states, and the disabled states of the alarms asso iated with
the blo k.
ACK_OPTION (Acknowled e Option): sele ts whether
alarms asso iated with the blo k will be automati ally
a knowledged.
WRITE_PRI (Write Priority): the priority of the alarm
generated by learing the write lo k.
WRITE ALM (Write Alarm): the alert generated if the
write lo k parameter is leared.
ITK_VER (ITK Version): ontains the version of the
Interoperability Test Kit (ITK) used by the Fieldbus
Foundation during their interoperability testing.
