Installing or removing the recipro
saw blade
CAUTION: Always clean out all chips or for-
eign matter adhering to the blade and around the
blade clamp.Failuretodosomaycauseinsufcient
tighteningoftheblade,resultinginaseriousinjury.
For Model M4500
To install the blade, loosen the bolt on the blade clamp
with the hex wrench. Insert the blade between the blade
clampandtheslidersothatthepinontheslidertsinto
theholeinthebladeshank.Ifthepincannoteasilyt
into the hole, remove the hex wrench from the screw
andthentryagain.
Afterthepintsproperlyintothehole,tightenthescrew
clockwisesecurely.Makesurethatthebladecannotbe
extractedeventhoughyoutrytopullitout.

CAUTION:Ifyoutightenthescrewwithoutthe
pinonthesliderttingproperlyintheholeintheblade
shank, the pin or the blade shank will be damaged.
Thismaycausethebladetobeextractedunexpect-
edlyduringoperation.
To remove the blade, follow the installation procedure
in reverse.
For Model M4501
Toinstallthereciprosawblade,alwaysmakesurethat
the blade clamp lever (part of the blade clamp sleeve)
is in released position on the insulation cover before
inserting the recipro saw blade. If the blade clamp lever
isinxedposition,rotatethebladeclampleverinthe
direction of the arrow so that it can be locked at the
released positon .

Insert the recipro saw blade into the blade clamp as far
asitwillgo.Thebladeclampsleeverotatesandxes
the recipro saw blade. Make sure that the recipro saw
bladecannotbeextractedeventhoughyoutrytopull
it out.

CAUTION: If you do not insert the recipro saw
blade deep enough, the recipro saw blade may be
ejected unexpectedly during operation. This can
beextremelydangerous.
CAUTION: Keep hands and ngers away from
the lever during the switching operation. Failure to
dosomaycausepersonalinjuries.
To remove the recipro saw blade, rotate the blade
clampleverinthedirectionofthearrowfully.Thereci-
pro saw blade is removed and the blade clamp lever is
xedatthereleasedposition .

NOTE:Ifyouremovethereciprosawbladewithout
rotatingthebladeclampleverfully,thelevermaynot
be locked in the released position . In this case,
rotatethebladeclampleverfullyagain,thenmake
sure that the blade clamp lever locked at the released
position .
NOTE: If the lever is positioned inside the tool, switch
onthetooljustasecondtoletthebladeclampout.
Switch off and unplug the tool from the mains before
working on the blade clamp lever.
Hex wrench storage
When not in use, store the hex wrench as shown in the
guretokeepitfrombeinglost.

OPERATION
CAUTION: Always hold the tool rmly with
one hand on insulation cover and the other on the
switch handle.
CAUTION: Always press the shoe rmly
against the workpiece during operation. If the
shoeisremovedorheldawayfromtheworkpiece
during operation, strong vibration and/or twisting will
beproduced,causingthebladetosnapdangerously.
CAUTION: Always wear gloves to protect
your hands from hot ying chips when cutting
metal.
CAUTION: Be sure to always wear suitable
eye protection which conforms with current
national standards.
CAUTION: Always use a suitable coolant
(cutting oil) when cutting metal. Failure to do so will
cause premature blade wear.
Presstheshoermlyagainsttheworkpiece.Donot
allow the tool to bounce. Bring the recipro saw blade
into light contact with the workpiece. First, make a pilot
groove using a slower speed. Then use a faster speed
to continue cutting.

MAINTENANCE
CAUTION: Always be sure that the tool is
switched off and unplugged before attempting to
perform inspection or maintenance.
NOTICE: Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner,
alcohol or the like. Discoloration, deformation or
cracks may result.
