Preventing Mirror Shake
At slower shutter speeds, vibration caused by the camera’s mirror returning to its down
position may cause a loss in image sharpness (mirror shake).
The Mirror-up Cable Release prevents mirror shake by employing a two-step shutter release
procedure.
With a half-press of the cable release’s plunger, the mirror is raised to its up position. Next,
the plunger is fully pressed; this fires the shutter and the mirror returns to its down position.
Using the Mirror-up Cable Release on RZ67 Lenses
1. Screw the black-tipped cable into the lens’ Mirror-up Socket until it is snug. The cable’s Release
Socket will elevate and a red line will be visible on the socket. Fig. 1.
2. Screw the chromium-tipped cable into the camera’s Shutter Release Button.
The camera is now ready for mirror-up photography.
3. Fully depress the camera’s Cocking Lever.
4. Hold the cable release’s Grip, and then gently press the release’s plunger.
The mirror will raise to its up position.
3. Wait until any vibrations have ceased, and then push the plunger further down.
After a slight resistance, the shutter will fire and the mirror will return to its down
position.
Note: Quickly pressing the plunger will result in the shutter and mirror
operating normally.
4. When you have finished with mirror-up photography, remove the black-tipped cable from the lens’
Mirror-up Socket and the chromium-tipped cable from the camera’s Shutter Release Button.
The black-tipped cable’s socket will return to its normal position and its red line will not be visible.
Always remove the cable from the lens first, and then the cable from the camera’s Shutter Release
Button.
